Guidetone now puts the words on the TV. Open a song with lyrics, and when there is a TV or a second screen to go to, a Stage button appears beside Record. Pick where the words go and the Lyrics page goes up big enough to read from across the room: words lighting as they are sung, chords in time above them, while the device in your hand stays the remote for play, loops and tempo. It works over a cable or AirPlay Screen Mirroring, and on a Mac on any screen it has, its own included. If the words land a hair early or late, Lyrics timing trims them and remembers it. On iPhone and iPad you can also cast to a Chromecast or Google TV and choose Sound on the TV: the TV plays the song, this device goes quiet, and its own lyrics follow the room. Karaoke rides along: on a song you have separated, turn on Sing along in the Stage picker and the vocals drop out while the words stay up on the wall. Also in this release: - Detect lyrics now asks what to listen to, the whole mix or the vocals alone, in place of Quick and Thorough. - Guided tours for Lyrics and the Chord Guide, plus new Help articles on lyrics, the Stage and chords. Tours you have finished are marked, and you can take them again. - In the chart, the tucked-away player has its own play button, with the pin right beside it. - Recording through an AirPlay speaker now warns you that it adds delay, as Bluetooth already did. One thing changes on iPhone and iPad: while Guidetone is open or playing, Screen Mirroring to a TV shows Guidetone's Stage screen instead of a copy of the app. Connect the Stage from the picker to put your lyrics there.

Guidetone now hears the words. Press Detect lyrics and the app transcribes what is sung, on your device, then lines every word up with the audio. You get two readings of the same song: a chord sheet with the words under the changes, and a Prompter you can read from a music stand across the room. The Prompter is built for playing rather than scrolling. Words light up as they are sung, the page turns itself a phrase at a time, and you pick the reading size for where you actually stand. Chords sit in time above the words on a bar ladder you can touch: tap to scrub, drag to loop, hold to drop a marker, and fix a chord where you see it. If a word comes back wrong, correct it in place. Words appear as soon as they are heard, while the timing is still being sharpened, so you read a page instead of watching a progress bar. Also in this release: - Setting a song up is far faster, and the wait finally tells the truth: real progress, a time estimate, and a Cancel that stops it. - The Mixer opens straight from the transport, so you can pull the vocal down without leaving the chart. - The Library has a proper Import button, and an import that names what it is working on and can be cancelled. One thing is gone: tapping the time signature on the engraved page no longer opens its own dialog. Feel and Reset to detected moved into the Meter tool, where the bars are. Shift beat 1 is retired outright — if a song's downbeat lands a beat off, re-detect it.

WoodShed is now Guidetone. Same app, same one-time purchase, and every project, recording and saved loop exactly where you left it — a new name for the tools you already use. A guide tone is the 3rd or the 7th of a chord: the note that tells you where the harmony is going, and the one worth hearing first. It is what this app has always been for. Also in this release: - All Fourths tuning (E A D G C F) joins the tuner and the playable neck — every adjacent pair is a perfect fourth, so one fingering carries all the way up. - The Chord Guide's guitar/piano switch is now a proper slider. The piano diagrams were always there; now they are impossible to miss. - Turning the play-along on no longer drops the track out mid-song. One thing is gone: the mixer's MAIN fader is retired. It scaled everything by a single number, which is what your device's own volume already does — so the desk is narrower and covers less of your song. You will be asked to accept the Terms once on first launch, because the app's name changed inside them.

A click that follows your song. You asked for a click you can actually practice to — not a metronome you line up by hand, but one that sits in the tune's own time. Switch it on and it counts through the track with you, from the first bar. Front of House. Every volume in one place: the original recording, each separated part, the click and the chord play-along, all on one desk. Slide the real track in against the stems to hear what a part is doing, solo anything, and mute whatever you want to play yourself. Three guitars. The playable neck now comes as nylon, steel-string and electric, each with its own voice — and each string sounds its own note, so a run up the neck is a run and not a chord. Pop or Jazz, chosen per song. Chord detection now asks what kind of tune it's about to read. A worship song was coming back full of sevenths nobody played; pick Pop and it reads the tune in front of it. This replaces the old Simplify setting — how a chart reads is decided when you detect it now, not afterwards. The music keeps playing. Leave WoodShed or lock the screen and the track keeps going, with play, pause and skip where you'd expect them. A song can be in more than one key. Tunes that modulate now read as more than one key, so the numbers stay right after the change. Songs you detected before this need one re-detect to see it. A new shelf for the tools. The metronome, tuner, guitar and Speed Trainer are four printed tickets now — pick one up and go. The small readouts and dials that sat on the old rack are gone; each tool has them inside. Smaller things: chord diagrams number your fingers instead of the intervals now (Settings switches it back), the Library's Add button moved up to the toolbar, markers delete the way they should, and dragging the playhead with Auto-Strum on no longer fires every chord it passes.

The playable guitar now turns your phone sideways, so the neck gets the whole screen — with the bench a tap away and the low strings clear of the system gestures.

Your chord diagrams make sound. Tap a chord in the Chord Guide and hear it strummed on a real nylon-string guitar or a grand piano. Drag across the strings — or the keys — to pluck the notes one at a time, and tap again to damp. Strings and keys light as they sound, so you can see what you are hearing. Turn on the pick and the guide strums your song's own chords along with the track, in time. Every string prints the note it actually sounds under your fingers, not the name of the open string, so a grip spells itself out left to right. The piano does the same under every key it presses. New since your last update: Tools. Your Metronome and Tuner have moved off the nav bar into a new Tools destination — a rack you can rearrange by dragging the units into whatever order suits you. On phones, Help comes back to the main bar. The Chord Guide. Pick any root and quality and WoodShed draws the shape on a guitar neck and a piano keyboard, with every dot named for the job it does in the chord — root, third, fifth, the tension. Load a song with chords detected and the guide fronts that song's own chords, capo and all; open it from the Player's chord lane. Left-handed diagrams are a free switch that flips every diagram in the app. Updates that install themselves. WoodShed now tells you when a new version is available and takes you straight to it. You asked: pick your export. Save as WAV for uncompressed audio, or M4A at Standard or High quality. The last five percent. Stem separation used to go quiet near the end and look stuck around 95%. It keeps reporting all the way through the finish now.

Move through the song with your hands. Drag the waveform to scroll it when you're zoomed in, and flick to glide. The chord strip scrolls the same way, any time. Both now show a thin line along the bottom telling you where your window sits in the whole track — so the two scrub bars that used to take up room under them are gone. Double-tap either one to move the playhead. One chord reader, always readable. The chord strip used to have two modes — its own reading window, or locked to the waveform — and the locked mode only paid off when you were already zoomed in far enough to read it. It's gone, and with it the zoom prompt that existed to cover it. What's left is the reading window. You can now hide the chord strip and the diagram lane independently, so you can keep the shapes and drop the symbols, or the other way round. Every chord control says what it does. The chord badge names what it's showing you — the key, or "No chords found", or "Chords · tap to detect" when there's nothing yet. Detect chords is a real button now instead of a caption that looked like a label. And there's a new Clear chords if you want to drop a sheet and start over. A Player with edges. The timeline, the chords and the transport are separated by lit seams, so you can see where one thing ends and the next begins instead of reading one undivided panel. On a phone, nothing gets dropped. The chord controls used to vanish on a narrow screen and the badge jumped to the opposite side. Now the strip stays one row with everything on the flank you expect, and the zoom buttons move onto the waveform itself — and you can drag that little zoom pill anywhere on the waveform if it's sitting over peaks you need. The track length rides the opposite corner. Transpose and the playback row reflow instead of running off the edge. Bass players, the tuner is yours. Set the Tuner to Bass and you get a four-string headstock that works out which string you're on, shows how far off it is, and lights that string's lamp when it holds. It reads all the way down to a low E — and to a low D when you're dropped, or tuned a whole step down. Four tunings: Standard, Drop D, Half-Step Down and D Standard. A headstock worth looking at. The tuner's headstock is rebuilt from the wood up — lacquer with real depth, a sunburst edge, bound edges, and a pearloid inlay that names the note you're reaching for. The tuner buttons are outboard now, and each one turns as its string locks in. Get every string and the whole instrument lights up together. Prefer your tuners in one row? It still switches between the crown layout — 3+3 on a guitar, 2+2 on a bass — and in-line. A proper welcome. Open WoodShed for the first time and The Opener takes you on a lap around the whole shop — Library, Player, Metronome, Tuner and Help — on a sample song that's already loaded and already charting its chords. Chords, as shapes you can play. A guitar chord-diagram lane now rides under the chord ribbon: the grip for the chord sounding right now, large and lit, with the ones coming up queued beside it. Every grip carries its fret numbers, so a shape high on the neck never reads as first position. Pick the size that suits your music stand — Small, Medium, or Large. A big chord card, when you want one. Tap the card chip on the lane and this chord and the next float up magnified. Drag it anywhere, size it by its corner, and it stays where you put it. Under the shapes, dots tick off the bar's beats and a count tells you how many bars are left on the chord you're playing — so the change never lands by surprise. Simplify and a digital capo. Busy chart? Simplify trims to triads or sevenths and hands you a playable grip. Put a capo on and only the shapes move — the song keeps its real names, the way a chart works. Suggest finds the fret that turns the most of the song into open chords. The tuner speaks guitar. A new Guitar mode puts a headstock front and centre: it hears which string you're on, lights the peg, and holds a lock lamp once a string is in tune. The needle is calmer, too. 4-stem separation is clean again on iPad. A player told us their four stems came back "almost like there is an extra drum track that's ms's off" — doubled and crackling on recent iPadOS. Fixed. If you gave up on 4-stem on an iPad, try it again. Steadier all round. WoodShed no longer crashes on Intel Macs during chord or beat detection, and a class of native error that used to take the whole app down now fails politely instead. On Macs too old for the audio models, WoodShed says so plainly rather than failing every attempt. Beat detection no longer halves the tempo on some tracks, and an interrupted model download picks up where it left off instead of starting over.

Export has a room of its own. One Export button on the Player opens a single card: choose the full mix or your stem mix, set the key and tempo you want baked in, and see the filename before you save. It starts from whatever you're practicing, so exporting what you just worked on takes no setup. You asked for both of these — one place for exports, and a tune in a different key. Changing key sounds better on Mac, iPad, and iPhone. Transposing has lost the thin, warbly edge it used to pick up — worst when you pitched a track up while slowing it down. Your screen stays awake while WoodShed is busy. Separating stems, recording, analyzing, playing, running the metronome or tuner, or reading Staff View — your device no longer locks out from under you mid-practice. Playback lands cleanly. Reaching the end of a track re-arms at the top every time, and Play no longer flips on over silence after a call or interruption. Chords read better: symbols that used to collide on the staff now slide apart, and zoomed all the way out the chord lane asks you to zoom in rather than showing a jumble. Also new — a "?" on every screen on phones, a What's New feed with a badge when a release lands, and a Sensitivity slider in the tuner so a quiet mic finally registers. Two things retired. The Key Trainer's Random order and Rest measure are gone; it's now simply Interval and Every (a walk in fourths already visits all 12 keys). And the Player's Unload button is gone — Back, the Library, or opening another track do the same job. Marker keys moved from [ and ] to , and . so they sit beside M; if you'd already rebound them, your keys are untouched.

WoodShed now runs on iPhone. The full practice studio — waveform, loops, stems, metronome, tuner and chord detection — laid out for a phone screen. Staff View comes with it: the engraved lead sheet reads two bars to a line at phone width, so the notation stays honest and the chord symbols stay clear of each other. Read or edit your chart without reaching for a tablet. Record a take right from the Library — tap Add, then Record a take. Also in this release: • Count-in now works the same way everywhere • Edit moved into the ⋯ menu on each track • Chord, beat and stem work stays with the track that started it • Fixed a crash when tapping the live Major/Minor readout • Cancelling an analysis no longer reports it as a failure Chord detection refreshes its model once on first use, and clears out older ones to free space.

Export Stem Mix — save exactly what you hear. Set your faders, mutes and solo in the Mixer, then export that blend as a single audio file. Solo one stem to export just that part. The Mixer's SOLO control is now a lit console button, and it's fully keyboard-operable.

Your library now leads with whatever you touched last, and the analysis badges are shortcuts. • The library sorts by most recently opened, so the song you're working on is waiting at the top. • Tap the tempo, key, or chord badges on the Player to jump straight to what they describe. • Compound meters like 6/8 now read as a feel — fast or slow — over the tracked grid, so the pulse matches how you actually count it. • The space bar plays and pauses. • Terms & Conditions: you'll be asked to agree once on first launch. The Terms and the Privacy Policy are now readable any time in Settings → Legal. • Stability and crash fixes.

Chord detection is faster, and no longer a black box. • Quick or Thorough — a new choice in Settings. Quick is the default and gets you a chord chart in a fraction of the time; Thorough digs deeper when you want the most accurate read. • A real progress bar. See how far along detection is, with a percentage and a Cancel button, instead of an open-ended spinner. • Fails fast. If chord detection can't get ready, you'll know in seconds rather than after a long wait. • Re-detect chords now sits right on the Notation Editor toolbar. • Fixed: the Pitch slider's per-semitone tick marks are back. • Fixed: more reliable chord and beat detection on some Macs.
