"Where do I even start teaching my kids about AI?"
I'm a developer, and a dad of two daughters. AI is the world my girls are
growing up in — but I wasn't about to sit them in front of an open chatbot
and hope for the best. Everything I found was built for adults. Nothing
explained, at a child's level, what AI actually is, how to ask it good
questions, and why it sometimes gets things wrong.
So I built it myself.
My First AI is the app my two daughters use every day. Because it was built
for my own kids, it has no ads, no open-ended chat, and it collects no names,
photos, or location. It's a safe first step into AI for children aged 4-10 —
and peace of mind for the parent watching over their shoulder.
▶ Magic Drawing — imagination into pictures
Kids pick who / what / where blocks to build a sentence, and the AI draws it.
By comparing a "vague" request with a "detailed" one, they naturally learn how
to ask well (prompting). It's the first moment your child says "whoa" — and the
lesson that stays with them longest.
▶ Daily missions with an AI friend
A kind AI friend greets your child each day with a short note. Kids complete
missions built on five pillars — Understand, Ask, Create, Protect, Verify —
growing real digital thinking skills. Ten minutes a day is enough.
▶ "AI can be wrong" — safety education
Spot-the-mistake quizzes, protecting personal information, telling real from
fake. The critical thinking and safety habits kids need in the AI era, made fun.
This is the part I most wanted my own daughters to learn.
▶ Built for parents' peace of mind (a dad's ground rules)
• Zero ads — purchases and external links sit behind a parent lock (math gate)
• No login, no account — no names, photos, or location; only an anonymous device ID
• No open chat — a parent should be able to predict what their child and the AI exchange
• Minimal data — speech is bundled on-device for offline playback (nothing transmitted);
children's inputs are pseudonymized
• Built to comply with COPPA and child-directed policies
▶ Start with no pressure
Free magic credits are refilled every day, so missions and play keep going
without paying. Parents can choose more from the Parent Area if they want to.
The first AI I wanted to give my daughters — now for your child, too.
