PassportPic: ID Photo Maker
2x2 Prints & U.S. Visa JPEG
Free
Check for severe lighting or softness concerns before exporting a U.S. visa JPEG, or verify supported U.S. and Canadian originals—privately on device.
Prepare a 2x2 photo for printing, a clearly labeled U.S. visa digital JPEG, or check an imported original file for U.S. or Canadian online passport renewal—privately on your device, with no subscription, account, ads, or uploads.
Take a new photo or choose one you already have. Use the square and face guides to position the portrait, then adjust zoom, position, and rotation. PassportPic preserves the photo's original background: it does not remove, replace, whiten, or blur it.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT OUTPUT
• U.S. visa digital JPEG: choose 600 x 600 or 1200 x 1200 pixels. The app creates a 24-bit sRGB JPEG, automatically compresses it to 240 KB or less, and validates the final saved bytes before offering the file.
• Passport 4x6 print sheet: create six 2x2 photos on a 1200 x 1800 JPEG with explicit 300-DPI metadata. Print on 4x6 paper at 100% or Actual Size—never Fit to Page.
• U.S. online renewal original: choose the original from Photos or Files. The app checks its listed format, byte size, readability, and color, then shares the exact imported bytes without cropping, rotating, filtering, or re-encoding. It links directly to the State Department rules and official .gov application.
• Canada online-renewal photographer original checker: import the commercial photographer's direct original JPEG with Files. The checker verifies detected JPEG/JPG bytes, one complete top-level image, valid EXIF orientation, 200 KB–5 MB size, portrait 2:3 orientation, and dimensions from 1200 × 1800 through 3000 × 4500 pixels. Camera, Photos-library import, crop, rotation, retouching, filters, and re-encoding are disabled. Confirm the in-person commercial photographer, six-month recency, direct camera file, and availability of the photographer or studio name, complete address, and date taken. The app links to the official Canada.ca photo rules and online-renewal eligibility page.
ON-DEVICE GUIDANCE
Run technical and composition guidance to check the final visa JPEG's dimensions, color format, and file size, along with one-face detection, approximate centering, face scale, and whether the unchanged outer background appears light and even. Only when exactly one face is detected, the app also checks that sampled face area for severe under- or overexposure and possible blur or softness.
Lighting and sharpness results are conservative pixel-based guidance, not agency measurements. A green result means that the app did not find the specific severe issue it checks; it does not establish compliance. Canada's chin-to-crown, expression, centring, lighting, background, glasses, and head-covering requirements are shown for manual review only; the checker does not measure, pass, or reject face geometry or visual compliance. Photo checks do not establish eligibility to renew online. Guidance is informational and cannot prove a photo is recent, original, or unedited, and it cannot guarantee acceptance. PassportPic is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by a government agency. Requirements vary by document, application method, country, and agency. Always confirm current official instructions before applying.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Photo processing and guidance run on your device. Camera access is used only when you choose to take a photo. Canada originals are chosen with Files only. On iPhone, visa and print exports request Photos add-only access only when saved; online originals use a verified temporary local copy for the system share sheet and actions such as Save to Files. The app removes its temporary copy after the share flow. The app has no backend, account system, advertising SDK, or third-party analytics SDK.

Version 1.4 adds explainable lighting and sharpness guidance to the U.S. visa JPEG workflow. When exactly one face is detected, the app looks for severe underexposure, washed-out highlights, and possible blur or softness in that sampled face area, then explains how to improve the capture. Otherwise, subject-quality rows remain cautions instead of showing a pass. These checks run locally and are warning-only: they do not alter the photo, make an acceptance decision, or replace manual review of current official instructions.
The existing one-face, position, scale, background, final-byte, format, color, and file-size checks remain available. U.S. and Canadian online-renewal original workflows still preserve and verify exact imported bytes; the Canada commercial-photographer checker, U.S. 2x2 print sheet, and visible SHA-256 proof remain unchanged.
