MendSage (formerly Chatmend) helps you improve the language you're learning by chatting with friends or family who already speak it or are learning it too. An AI coach sits quietly inside the chat, catches the mistakes you can't see yourself, offers to finish your sentence when you're stuck, and explains grammar right on each message — only for those who are learning.
It's correction first, translation only when you need it. Everyone understands what they're typing; the value is feedback on what you wrote, grounded in real conversations with people you care about.
HOW IT WORKS
• Message normally: Your messages send immediately, as written — the chat is never blocked.
• Gentle feedback markers appear a beat later:
– Clean: A light check. You nailed it.
– Nudge: Correct, but a native would phrase it more naturally. A suggestion, not a failure.
– Correction: Words underlined. Tap to see the fix and plain-language explanation.
• Hear it spoken: Tap the speaker on a correction to hear the corrected sentence read aloud.
• Deep grammar: Tap "Teach me more" to ask follow-up questions in private discussion threads.
NEVER GET STUCK MID-CONVERSATION
• Finish my thought: Stuck mid-sentence? Tap "Finish my thought" and pick from natural endings that fit your chat. Long-press a suggestion to see its translation before you use it.
• On-demand message translation: Press and hold a message to read it in your own language when your partner uses unfamiliar phrasing.
PRACTICE TOGETHER
• 1:1 and group chats for couples, friends, and language exchange partners, all practicing the same language.
• Mixed-level rooms just work: Native speakers can join uncorrected — mark a language as native and your messages are never coached, so a fluent friend or partner gives natural input while only the learners get feedback.
• Choose the language your explanations are written in, so coaching meets you at your level.
