When you pick up Japatan during word cards or writing practice, it now dangles below your finger so you can see it, and sways as you move side to side.

• Japatan now moves on the Home screen. Each picture has its own little motion: breathing while asleep, brushing teeth, nodding over a book, and more. • Kanji Monster: after a battle, review every kanji you faced with its reading and meaning, and add the ones you missed to your word cards in one tap. • Writing: new Memory Writing. Write each character 3 times as the guide fades away, then earn a stamp for neat strokes. (Switch to single tracing with the button at the top right.) • Bring Japatan along in Writing too (button at the top right). • Japatan reacts in more ways while you study word cards, and floats when you drag it. • Japatan also moves during setup. • Small improvements and fixes.

• Monster Dex, deeper: each defeat earns a vermilion, silver, then gold seal and unlocks eyewitness accounts and legends. 1% chance to meet a shiny. • Each monster's Dex page keeps the kanji you learned in battle. • Long-press a word in News, or tap + in the word list, to save it to a "News Words" folder. • Bring Japatan along while you study cards (button at the top right). Get a card right and it munches it! • Kanji Monster, News and Writing now count toward your study streak. • Tap Japatan on the Status screen to see it move. • Small improvements and fixes.

• Monster Dex now follows Light and Dark Mode. • Monsters you beat are now marked as defeated (討伐) in the Monster Dex. • Small improvements and fixes.

• Monster Dex: collect all 80 kanji monsters in the Reading tab. Every monster you meet is recorded, and when you answer all of its questions correctly it is purified and its lore unlocks. • Monsters now come alive in battle: they move, attack, flinch, and dissolve into light when purified. • Status: the Level and Challenge stats are replaced by Kanji (correct readings in the Reading tab) and Reading (News articles you've read).

• Daily News: translations now refresh correctly when an article is updated. • Small stability improvements.
