Density Scanner measures a cut foam sample with the camera, asks for its weight, and calculates density in pounds per cubic foot (lb/ft³) — in seconds, entirely on your device.
HOW IT WORKS
• Scan four sides of the sample with on-screen alignment guides.
• Review the measured length, width, and height — correct any dimension by hand, or drag the detected outline's corners onto the sample with a magnifier.
• Enter the sample weight in grams.
• Get the density instantly, saved with a timestamp.
ACCURATE, FIELD-READY MEASUREMENT
• LiDAR devices (Pro iPhones and iPads) measure scale from the depth sensor — no reference object needed.
• Other devices use a credit-card-size reference for scale.
• Manual entry is always available, including fractions like "3 1/16".
• A built-in Calibration Check tunes accuracy to your device against an object of known size.
• On LiDAR devices, a flatness check on the top and bottom faces flags samples with voids or uneven cuts that would throw off density.
• Built for real, saw-cut field samples — not just clean lab cubes.
TRACK AND EXPORT YOUR RESULTS
• Persistent Job ID and optional Sample ID for organizing work and R&D.
• Record ISO and Resin material, lot/batch, and expiration with every result.
• Optional GPS location tags each result to its project site.
• Every result is stored on-device, newest first — swipe to share, archive, or delete.
• Export as CSV, PDF, or a date-stamped folder (CSV + PDF + scan photos) via email, message, or AirDrop.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
All measurements, calculations, and storage happen on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and no account is required. Location, when enabled, is recorded only into your local results and shared only when you choose to export.
BUILT-IN TUTORIAL
A quick, replayable tutorial covers sample sizing for open- and closed-cell foam, lighting, and — most importantly — holding the phone vertical and square to the sample face for the best reading.
Please note: density values are good-faith field estimates derived from camera-based measurements and user-entered weights, intended for general quality-assurance reference. They are not a substitute for calibrated laboratory equipment or applicable standard test methods.
On the roadmap: optional cloud sync and a team dashboard for sharing results across a crew. Today the app works fully on-device, no account required.
