Double-click a Markdown file and read it the way it is meant to look. Hashpane is a fast, focused reader for Markdown: open a .md file and it renders instantly into clean, well-typeset text, right on your Mac.
DEAD SIMPLE
Set Hashpane as your reader and double-click any Markdown file, or use Open With, the Open dialog, drag-and-drop, or recent files. There is nothing to set up and nothing to save. One calm reading pane, and that is the whole app.
GITHUB-ACCURATE
What you see is what GitHub shows. Hashpane renders GitHub Flavored Markdown faithfully: headings, lists, and task lists; tables with alignment; fenced code with real syntax highlighting; footnotes; and math. Front matter is shown as a tidy header rather than dumped into the text.
COPY THE WAY YOU MEAN IT
Select any part of a rendered document and copy it as formatted, rich text, so it pastes into Mail, Notes, or a doc with its formatting intact. Or choose Copy as Markdown from the Edit menu to copy the original Markdown source for exactly what you selected.
CALM TO READ
Light, dark, and system themes, warm and low-contrast by design, with reading typography tuned for long sessions and an adjustable text size. No clutter, no chrome competing with the document.
LOCAL AND PRIVATE
Hashpane makes no network requests to render a document. Nothing is uploaded, there are no accounts, and there is no telemetry. Your files are plain text on your disk, and they stay there. Flight mode is a perfectly good place to read.
The name says what it is. Hash, for the # that begins every heading. Pane, for the reading view. Markdown, the way it should look, the moment you open it.

Fixes a rendering bug where a sentence containing two dollar amounts, such as prices or funding figures, could be typeset as a math expression instead of plain text. Math written as an equation still renders as before.
