NEW: 部品 components in the 部首図鑑 next to the 182 radicals, 236 pieces that keep showing up from kanji to kanji without being official radicals: 寺, 者, 古, 各… many are made of other pieces, and their page shows the formula (寺 = 土 + 寸, 莫 = 艹 + 日 + 大): tap a piece to open its own page. they unlock when you learn a kanji that contains them. notifications, redone no more the same message since day one. each day of the week has its own reminder, with your current streak. your kanji write to you themselves, so does the mascot, and the message changes every time. and when your streak is at risk, a reminder comes at 9:30 pm, only on days you haven't reviewed anything yet. a sturdier streak • vocabulary and readings count too: a vocab-only day no longer breaks it • it no longer drops to 0 in the morning: it holds until midnight • it's shared between iPhone and iPad, even when progress sync lags behind • a card reviewed today no longer erases the trace of previous days • お守り charms show up again on the home screen in notebook style coming soon: from kanji to word 熟語 a little memo on the home screen announces the next mode: learn a kanji with its on and kun readings, then read the real words it appears in right away (水 is read みず on its own, but スイ in 水曜日). tap it to see how it will work. also • iCloud: for some people, sending progress kept failing since 3.0, fixed; the diagnostic (Settings > iCloud) now gives the real reason for a failure • the level icon is no longer cropped on a kanji's page • with the tab bar at the bottom, review badges are no longer cut off • in English, a few texts left in French are now translated

NEW — the "notebook" style a brand new look for the whole app: Windows 95 meets a Japanese schoolgirl's notebook. grid paper, washi tape, stickers, よくできました stamps, a genkō sheet to write on, a 成績表 report card after each session, a sticker album for achievements, a 単語帳 card ring for vocabulary, Windows 95 dialog boxes. every theme works with it; dark ones become a black notebook in gel pens. the app opens in it, on the Washi theme; prefer the old look? Settings > Interface style. NEW — radicals 部首 the building blocks of kanji get their own encyclopedia, the 部首図鑑: 182 radicals to unlock by learning the kanji that contain them. when a new radical shows up, a short lesson comes before the kanji: its name, its meaning, where it sits (偏 on the left, 冠 on top…) and its stroke order. then it comes back in reviews: on its own, or inside a kanji with a gap where you redraw the missing radical. and when you write a kanji, its radicals appear next to the box as you finish each one. NEW — on iPad, the app finally fills the screen two-column home, slightly bigger text, a wider dictionary, and a bigger writing box by default. NEW — "I forgot" and canvas size mid-session during reviews, an "I forgot" button shows the kanji and its stroke order so you can trace it over, no need to scribble on purpose. blank halfway through? ask for just the next radical: your strokes stay, it shows up faintly and you keep going. and the writing box size can be changed without leaving the session: reviews, lessons or vocabulary. NEW — the games, redone, and the oni turns RPG the six games move to the notebook: genkō sheet, kanji circled in red pen, stamps and records. the oni fight becomes a little kawaii RPG: たたかう or にげる, block HP bars, your mascot as the hero. Free writing, Reverse chrono and Radicals are gone: they overlapped. NEW — start over on a level or a kanji Settings > Data resets a whole level (N3, say), or a kanji's page resets just that one. it's erased everywhere through iCloud, and the rest (other levels, vocabulary, XP, achievements) stays put. NEW — your enemies 敵 the kanji that really resist you now have their own page: reread their story, write your own version, and face them in a dedicated drill. once one of them reaches Samurai II, it joins the defeated 倒. NEW — your year in review 年 from December 1st: kanji learned, reviews, longest streak, strokes drawn, your worst enemy, your finest stroke… swipe through it and share it. NEW — replay the stroke order when you're stuck when a missed kanji shows up faintly, a play button replays its stroke order. a whole new start the first launch was rebuilt: you trace your first three kanji right away, pick your reminder time, and each tab introduces itself in one sentence. also • during a lesson, the meaning and the 音/訓 readings stay on screen at every step • the daily limit shows how many kanji you actually learned, not always 5 • the 今日 badge updates right after vocabulary • "one character at a time" no longer shows the character to trace • the reading now shows when you get a vocab word right • the part of speech (noun, adverb…) can show as a hint • the kanji watermark is clearly visible on light themes • a simple tap no longer counts as a missed stroke • writing in vocabulary was harder than in kanji: same tolerance now, and one missed stroke no longer wipes everything

NEW : flag a vocabulary word with no French translation the French-Japanese dictionary behind the app's vocabulary does not have a translation for every word: those showed up in English, with no warning. the app now says so clearly, with a button that opens an email straight to me with a translation suggestion. the 今日 tab badge stayed lit after finishing vocabulary reviewing kanji cleared the badge right away, reviewing vocabulary did not — you had to switch tabs for it to catch up. it now updates immediately, vocabulary included. the "one character at a time" vocab mode was showing the character to trace the box for the character you were about to write already displayed it, right above the canvas — no need to remember it, just copy it. it now stays blank until you have actually traced it. pronunciation was missing from the vocab success screen getting a word right during review showed the kanji and an arrow to continue, no reading — only a miss showed it. it now shows either way.

the pause between strokes is a choice again 2.5 removed it so you could write straight through. some people preferred that beat, especially on a character they are meeting for the first time: a setting in the writing options brings it back. perapera, for vocabulary my other app now shows up in the vocabulary tab: 8,800 words from N5 to N1, with the same review system. the card closes for good if it is not for you. fix: a few kanji were showing the wrong stroke order a mismatch in the database made 嫌 and 箱 display another character's strokes. fixed.

NEW — five free kanji, from any level you like the free preview was locked to N4: anyone who already reads Japanese had to try the app on kanji they know by heart. the five free kanji now come from whichever level you pick, N1 included, and they stay yours forever — learning and reviews. all of N5 and every kana stay free for life, as before. NEW — first launch asks what you already know starting at N3 used to mark all of N5 and N4 as known, no questions asked. that was a bet, and the gaps stayed invisible forever. a screen now shows you those kanji, level by level, all ticked: untick the ones you would rather relearn and they join your queue. NEW — tabs can move to the bottom in settings, right under text size. on a large phone they finally sit under your thumb. NEW — free practice for vocabulary kanji had their drill; vocabulary only had its due reviews. three ready-made sets: the words you miss most, the recently learned, and random. nothing is recorded — your review schedule stays put. boxes big enough to write in the whole word sat on one line: a four-character word gave you 84-point boxes, five characters 65 points. you cannot draw a fifteen-stroke kanji in that. boxes are twice the size now, and a setting even lets you write one character at a time, large. the daily counter was talking nonsense learning ten kanji against a goal of five showed "5/5", greyed out as if something had broken. it now shows what you actually did, overshoot included. strokes stayed on the previous kanji after a lesson, the page moved on to the next kanji for readings and meaning, but the strokes stayed behind. thanks to whoever reported it — the description alone was enough to find it. first launch, fully redrawn hard corners, solid buttons, window title bars and mascots: onboarding was the one place in the app that did not look like it. lighter writing settings ink colour, opacity and canvas background are gone. nobody comes here to tune the hue of their stroke, and black ink on a black background was only a trap. stroke width, size, grid and sounds remain. when your progress takes a while to arrive on a new device, iCloud takes a minute or two to pull your progress down. the screen stayed empty with no explanation, and it looked like everything was lost. a message now says so, and the settings page shows where the sync stand

writing flows without the pause after a validated stroke, the canvas stayed deaf for 400 milliseconds — the length of the badge, and enough to break your rhythm on a kanji you know by heart. the next stroke now starts straight away, and the badge shows on top without blocking anything. only a rejected stroke still pauses, long enough to read what went wrong. thanks to the reviewer who reported it. the radical breakdown was broken since 2.4, the kanji page showed a single "component": the kanji itself. the radicals it is built from, the ones the mnemonics talk about, were gone entirely. the breakdown is back: and no component shows up without its name any more: the radical dictionary grows from 239 to 818 entries, and every one of the 1,903 kanji with components has all of them named. writing flows without waiting after a validated stroke, the drawing area stayed deaf for four tenths of a second while the validation badge faded. when you know a kanji well, you want to write it in one go. the badge now appears on top without blocking anything: the next stroke starts immediately. the lock only remains on a rejected stroke, where there is a diagnosis to read. 的 accuracy could close the app this ranking only accepts players past 100 reviews, but it still tried to load the list for everyone else — and a filler date returned by game center was enough to quit the app. the tab now shows your progress towards the threshold and queries nothing until you reach it. "i already know it" finally moves on the button did its job, but the page didn't close behind it: you stayed facing the kanji you had just validated, as if nothing had happened. it now moves straight to the next one, like the end of a lesson. thanks to alexandre for reporting it. the kanji page header folds away a small arrow, top right. folded, it drops from 152 to 54 points and keeps only what matters: the kanji, its meaning, its readings and your level. on a small screen it ate half the page before you reached any content. your choice is remembered. the learning path ran backwards the progress map on first launch described a journey starting at the advanced level and ending at beginner, and skipped N1 entirely. it now reads the right way round: from N5 up to N1.

NOUVEAU — la taille du texte se règle quatre tailles, dans les réglages, tout en haut. jusqu'ici l'app ignorait le réglage d'iOS : ses polices étaient écrites en dur et le zoom du système n'avait aucune prise dessus. corrigé sur les 816 tailles de l'app. les grands caractères japonais ne bougent pas, ils sont déjà lisibles. NOUVEAU — cinq thèmes, dont quatre clairs 和紙 washi (papier crème) et 氷 kōri (glace) sont gratuits. 紅 kurenai (cramoisi sur laque noire), 絹 kinu (soie) et 檜 hinoki (bois clair) rejoignent Plus. et les thèmes gratuits passent devant dans la liste, au lieu d'être noyés derrière ceux qui sont verrouillés. le paysage fonctionne la fiche kanji et l'onboarding ne défilaient pas quand le téléphone est à plat sur l'onboarding, le bouton du bas devenait carrément inatteignable. tout défile. le classement revient la 2.3 est partie sans que les classements y soient rattachés côté apple, d'où le « impossible de charger » de ces derniers jours. c'est réparé et vos scores n'ont jamais été perdus, ils réapparaissent exactement comme vous les aviez laissés.

cette version vient presque entièrement de vos messages. merci pour vos retours ^^ 写経 recopie : des cases à ta taille la grille était figée à cinq colonnes, soit des cases minuscules pour y tracer un kanji de quinze traits. tu choisis maintenant entre petit, moyen et grand: en grand, une case fait le double de surface. le texte se recopie simplement sur plus de pages. 写経 recopie : moins sévère, enfin la notation était calculée sur la largeur de la case. dans une petite case, deux millimètres de tremblement pesaient autant qu'un gros écart sur le grand canvas : c'était le mode le plus dur de l'app sans que ce soit voulu. la tolérance s'adapte désormais à la taille des cases, dans les deux modes de recopie. les boutons répondent partout sur beaucoup d'écrans, seul le texte à l'intérieur d'un bouton réagissait, pas le cadre autour; il fallait parfois s'y reprendre à plusieurs fois. corrigé sur 159 boutons, dans toute l'app. la pastille de l'onglet 今日 elle restait affichée après la dernière révision et n'attendait que le changement d'onglet pour disparaître. elle décompte maintenant au fil de la session. 的 précision : on te dit pourquoi tu n'y es pas ce classement demande 100 révisions, sans quoi une seule bonne réponse vaudrait 100 %. l'onglet affiche désormais combien il t'en reste à réaliser avant de pouvoir le rejoindre onze kanji comptés deux fois 目 était listé en N5 et en N4, 回番点声所市向内全両 en N4 et en N3. le total et les listes les comptaient deux fois. un kanji appartient maintenant au niveau où on le rencontre.

NOUVEAU — 特訓 drill deux séries prêtes en un geste dans les révisions : tes kanji les plus ratés, et ceux que tu viens d'apprendre. le kanji est caché, tu écris de mémoire — et si tu bloques, un bouton l'affiche en filigrane sous la grille. celui que tu as regardé revient en fin de série, pour le refaire sans aide. la notation ne punit plus un doigt qui glisse jusqu'ici, un seul trait raté faisait perdre le kanji entier : sur un caractère de quinze traits, ça devenait injouable. maintenant un trait refusé se refait simplement, sans effacer les précédents. la marge suit la densité du caractère. révisions moins sévères la révision — le seul mode qui compte pour ta progression — n'appliquait pas la tolérance prévue pour les kanji très chargés et les kana. c'était le mode le plus dur de l'app. corrigé. NOUVEAU — 選 choisis tes kanji une liste où tu coches exactement ce que tu veux réviser, avec recherche par kanji, sens ou lecture, et filtre par niveau. pour les trois kanji d'une leçon, ceux que tu confonds, ceux croisés dans un texte la veille. le classement se met à jour tout seul tes scores partent à la fin de chaque session et au retour dans l'app. plus besoin d'ouvrir le 番付 pour y exister. l'onglet semaine affiche maintenant le temps qu'il te reste avant de sortir du classement. l'app est plus rapide la base des 1 981 kanji était reconstruite en mémoire à chaque rafraîchissement d'écran. elle ne l'est plus qu'une fois. les écrans de révision et d'accueil respirent, et d'autant plus que tu as débloqué de kanji. et aussi • l'ordre du classement était inversé : le plus petit score arrivait en tête. remis à l'endroit. • le classement t'est proposé à ta première promotion, une seule fois, et jamais si tu l'as déjà refusé.

NOUVEAU — 番付 classement mesure-toi aux autres joueurs : xp, série, kanji appris et précision, sur la semaine ou depuis toujours. optionnel, et désactivé par défaut. NOUVEAU — 写経 recopie copie un texte entier à la main sur une feuille quadrillée japonaise. correction caractère par caractère, ou d'un bloc à la fin sur la grande feuille libre. le texte est lu à voix haute. 逆算 chrono inversé un nouveau mode de vitesse, plus les combos ×N sur le speed round. DU SON PARTOUT l'apprentissage, les révisions et les récompenses ont enfin leur retour sonore — comme le reste de l'app. reconnaissance plus juste les kana acceptent les traits liés, et les kanji très chargés ne sont plus pénalisés par leur densité. iCloud enfin complet xp, niveau, succès, défis, kana et records se synchronisent vraiment entre tes appareils. correction d'un doublon qui pouvait dédoubler ta progression. et aussi • choix de la langue dès le premier écran • rappel discret si les notifications sont coupées • le nombre de mots annoncé en vocabulaire correspond enfin à la session réelle

on ne retient pas un kanji en le regardant. on le retient en l'ÉCRIVANT. rakugaki est la seule app française qui t'apprend à écrire le japonais à la main, trait par trait, dans le bon ordre — au doigt ou à l'Apple Pencil. l'app vérifie chaque trait : direction, position, ordre.
