SÈGBÉ — African Languages
Learn. Record. Preserve.
Free
The free app to learn Fon, Ewe, Mina and Adja-gbe — and to record your voice to preserve the coastal languages of West Africa.
Listen to the voice of your roots.
SEGBE is the free app that learns, transmits and preserves the languages of West Africa. First step: the gbe continuum — Fon, Ewe, Mina, Adja-gbe — spoken by over 13 million people in Benin, Togo, Ghana, Nigeria and across their diaspora.

TWO MODES
Learner mode. Discover the language of your parents, your grandparents, or simply a language that draws you in. Interactive lessons, essential vocabulary, guided exercises. For beginners as well as advanced learners.
Contributor mode. Are you a native speaker? Your voice can save a language. Record words, proverbs, life stories. Each clip enriches an open linguistic corpus that will serve researchers and future generations. Your phone's microphone is enough — the app automatically checks audio quality.
Community validator mode. Help moderate other speakers' contributions and unlock recognition tiers.

WHY SEGBE
Today, neither Siri, Alexa nor Google Assistant understand the languages of the gbe continuum. AI models are trained mostly on English, French, Mandarin. SEGBE flips this equation by building, from its users' voices, the corpora that will tomorrow let these languages exist in the digital world.

WHO IT IS FOR
- Diaspora wanting to reconnect with the original language
- Younger generations who want to pass it on to their children
- Native speakers who want to contribute to collective memory
- Teachers, researchers, linguists
- Curious learners
The interface is designed for elders as much as for young people: large buttons, clear text, step-by-step guidance. Your tech-savvy partner and your grandmother should both be able to use it.

PRIVACY AND RESPECT
SEGBE takes your privacy seriously:
- You choose, scope by scope, what you allow (internal corpus, research, open data, learner mode, AI training — 5 distinct and modifiable decisions).
- No ads, no trackers, no intrusive analytics.
- Your recordings are stored in Europe (Supabase servers in Paris), encrypted at rest and in transit.
- No speaker recognition, ever.
- Account deletion is effective within 24 hours, in one tap.
