A shipwreck, a dream, and a supermarket that finally does what it says. The Shipwreck is a ship on the sea floor, taken over by the things that live down there. Crabs that come at you sideways, pufferfish too angry to deflate, sardines that arrive as a whole school, jellyfish that leave a sting where they die, and starfish that become two starfish when you cut them in half. The wreck has a captain — the Kraken, who hurls its anchor, jets straight at you and calls in crabs. Nobody goes down there without air. In the Shipwreck every hero, and the Guard Goose, wears a glass diving dome, bubbles and all. Past it lies Dreamland, the newest chapter and the hardest: a child's bedroom come loose and floating on the clouds. The sheep you count to fall asleep, hopping at you in flocks. The monster under the bed, which has brought the bed. A pop quiz that flutters from side to side, so it is never quite where you aimed. Pillows that burst into smaller pillows. And nightmares that vanish and come back closer — watch the floor where one is about to land. At the end of the dream waits the Rude Awakening, an alarm clock that rings out waves of sound. Backing away will not save you; find the gaps. The Supermarket now does what the Collection Book always said it did. The mop bucket really does leave the floor slick enough to slow you down. The tin can stack really does topple into two. And runaway trolleys really are hopeless at corners. The Trolley Titan, meanwhile, had never used a single one of its attacks: the game had never been told it had any. Now it throws shopping baskets and charges down the aisle, with red warnings you can actually see on that pale floor. The floor itself was being drawn stretched, too; its square tiles are square again.

Three heroes come off the bench, and a supermarket opens after dark. Bromm, Mira and Freya have been sitting locked in the roster with nothing behind them. They have a fight now. Bromm hits like weight — every fifth blow throws a second shock out of the impact. Mira's weapons spin up for four seconds in every twelve. Freya turns running into armour: keep moving and the next hit that finds you lands soft, and the next one you throw back does not. The Supermarket is the eighth chapter and the hardest. It is a normal shop at night, which turns out to be where this game's weapons come from — the aisles are full of the things you have been throwing all along, and they have opinions about it. A runaway trolley that cannot corner, a frozen turkey you turn and fight rather than outrun, sour milk, a mop bucket that leaves the floor slick where it falls, and a stack of tins that topples into two. At the end of the aisle, a mountain of shopping trolleys welded into one furious creature. Every chapter also got its own furniture. Cover used to be the same two grey shapes tinted a different colour in each world; now the desert fights around carved stone columns, the volcano around cooled lava, the toy store around block towers and open toy chests.

A screen you could get stuck on. Opening a chest, or reaching an Ascension milestone, could leave the button that closes the screen just below the edge of the display — and those screens have no other way out. On some phones it was a few pixels under; at larger text sizes it was a long way under. Both now keep the button on screen whatever your phone and whatever your text size, and the chest spins when you tap it, the way it has always said it does. Also fixed: the Guard Goose stood still during the pause between waves while you walked off without it, and it no longer spends its twenty-five seconds on a break with nothing to bite.

Every hero looks where they are going. Only the Knight ever turned to face the way he walked. Now all six do — walk north and you see a back, not a face. New: the Guard Goose. Buy one, let it loose mid-run, and it stands over you for twenty-five seconds biting whatever comes close. It guards you, not the arena. You can also restock UFOs, pumpkins, swatters and geese from the pause menu, instead of abandoning a run to do it. Fixed: a chapter is saved the moment you clear it, so closing the game during the next one no longer costs you the one you just unlocked. Chapter select opens where you left off. Pizza slices no longer stop turning between waves. And new players actually receive the free one-shot items they were always meant to start with.

A handbook, at last. The Collection Book now has two new pages. WEAPONS lists every weapon with what it does and what each level is worth — damage and fire rate, level by level. GUIDE explains the rest: the magnet, the boots, the shield, the piñata, the fridge, the goblin, and what the game is asking you to do in the first place. Some of it should have been said long ago. The pigeon does no damage itself — only the mess it drops does — which is why it can never save you from something already touching you. The tea is a crowd weapon: what lands stays scalding and burns everyone standing in it.

Enemies no longer get stuck behind cover — they walk around it and come for you. Every weapon now has its own attack: a slipper is flung, a chicken is heaved, tea is poured. Your hero lends the colour, the weapon decides the move. Beat a boss and it bursts apart. One piece comes straight at the camera, hits the screen and slides down it. New in the shop: two bundles and two gold packs.
