Kipp: Hybrid Training Coach
Recovery, training & nutrition
Only for iPhone
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
Chasing a squat PR, a race or HYROX? Kipp reads your recovery, training and nutrition together and gives you the day's call every morning.
Most fitness apps show you data. Kipp uses it.
Every morning, Kipp reads your stats, understands your training and diet yesterday, and tells you what it means for today: what to push, adjust, or leave alone.
Just like a long-term private coach who’s paying close attention to your health and fitness.
ONE CONVERSATION FOR YOUR BODY
Your wearable knows your sleep. Your food log knows your macros. Your training app knows the session. Your calendar knows the chaos.
Kipp considers the whole picture together, so your plan reflects your life, that day.
THE COACH WHO TEXTS YOU FIRST
Kipp checks in first thing in the morning, with a clear read for your day ahead. No more deciphering charts or opening five apps.
JUST TALK TO KIPP LIKE YOU WOULD A HUMAN COACH
No forms. Tell Kipp what you ate, or snap a photo for macros. Describe your gym session and Kipp records the sets, reps, and effort. Mention your sore back or travels, and Kipp adjusts accordingly.
BUILT FOR PEOPLE WHO TRAIN WITH INTENT
Whether you are chasing a squat PR, preparing for a race, or training for HYROX, Kipp adapts the plan to your specific goals, lifestyle, and recovery.
CONNECTS YOUR DEVICES
Connect Apple Health, Garmin, Strava, and more to bring sleep, recovery, HRV, activity, and training into one place for a useful whole analysis.
A REAL INTAKE, NOT A QUIZ
Onboarding is modeled on a $2,000/month private coach. Kipp learns your history, your goals, and what's made things stick (or not) before it builds anything, so the plan actually fits you.
SEE THE PATTERN
Bring calories and fiber together in one calendar. Explore meal macros, recorded workouts, strength and endurance trends, recovery, water, weight, habits and body measurements in Insights. Home screen widgets keep today’s priorities close.

more A fresh look for Insights, with your progress easier to read.
- More accurate strength trends. Accessory exercises such as face pulls are no longer mistaken for compound lifts.
- A clearer Insights layout. Recovery, training, habits, water and measurements now share a consistent dark design with clearer charts and figures.
- Calories and fiber, together. One calendar brings both into view, while keeping missing and partial food logs distinct.
- More useful meal details. See calories, protein, carbs and fat for each meal, with missing fiber estimates clearly marked.
- Easier measurement entry. Switch between body measurements, see the values you've entered and save them together.
1.0.23 1d ago
A clearer view of your training and progress.
- More reliable workout logging. Different exercises with the same weights and reps are no longer mistaken for a repeated workout.
- Insights keeps previously loaded readings when a refresh fails, with an option to try again.
- Your lifts, in a journal. Tap an exercise to browse recorded sessions, sets, top sets, estimated one-rep max, volume and workout notes.
- Easier details to browse. Activity sessions open in a scrollable journal, and the fiber breakdown has a cleaner meal-by-meal layout.
- A helpful starting point. Insights now shows what to log to build each trend, with suggested messages you can edit before sending to Kipp.
- Added too much water? Undo a quick-add straight from the water card.
1.0.22 4d ago
A closer look at your progress in Insights.
- Easier measurements. Tap a body marker to enter that measurement, see your previous reading and add more before saving. Decimal commas now work, and your entries stay put if saving fails.
- Your lifts, set by set. Expand an exercise in Strength to see recorded weights, reps and effort, then open its full history.
- Fiber, meal by meal. Tap a day and open View meals to see each meal's fiber estimate and photo when available. Missing estimates are clearly marked, and partial days no longer hide the whole card.
- Clearer workout summaries. Expand activity categories to see individual sessions and their details.
- More reliable water logging. Adding water in Insights now builds on today's current total, even when the saved history is still catching up.
1.0.21 Sep 17
Last night means last night. Before your watch had synced, the morning read could pick up the night before last and coach you off it - one athlete was told she'd slept 2.9 hours on a night she'd slept 7.2. Kipp now reads only the night that ended after midnight, and when nothing has landed yet it asks how you slept instead of carrying a stale number forward.
- Measurements, drawn on a body. The Measurements card in Insights is now a figure with a marker at every tape site. A measured site shows its number and the change since your first reading; an unmeasured one shows where the tape goes, with a tap to add it. Two readings on the same day count as one session with a correction, so a typo you fixed ten seconds later can no longer show up as a +1 cm change.
- Fiber, a month at a glance. The Fiber card is now a calendar of rings, one per day of the last 30: closed when you hit that day's target, open to how far a short day got, dotted when the day wasn't fully logged. Dotted means not logged, never missed. Today fills in as you eat and only counts once the day is done.
- Fiber and sodium from a barcode. A scanned label now brings its fiber and sodium along, and manual entry has a field for each, so one scanned yogurt no longer drops the whole day out of the Fiber card.
- Setting up with Apple Health. Kipp now reads what you train from your phone's workouts, not just how much: lifts, runs and rides counted, walks kept separate. Your first plan is built for the sport you actually do.
1.0.20 Sep 14
Your strength, read out. The Strength card in Insights now opens with a read, not a list: the main lift that moved most, the change in its estimated 1RM, and the two top sets that change comes from. That lift gets a real chart, one point per session on a real date axis, with your first and last top sets named on it. Holding your load while you cut reads as a win, not a stall. A lift Kipp can't call yet says how far off it is ("2 of 3 sessions") instead of a dash, and an accessory can sit in the ledger but never leads.
- Kipp tells you when a newer version is out. A quiet line above the chat says which version is in the App Store, with an Update button; dismiss it and it stays away until the next release. Settings also gets an Update Kipp row that stays put while you're behind, and its footer now shows the version you're running.
- Setting up without a watch. Kipp now asks about your phone or your watch, not a tracker you may not own. Two new answers on the connect step: "Just my phone" connects Apple Health for your steps and runs the first read straight away, and "No tracker, I'll tell you" records that answer, so Kipp never asks you to connect again and never treats it as a sync gap.
1.0.19 Sep 7
Your block, in Insights. Every day of your current training block is now a dot in the Training section, coloured by the sport you did that day, with the week you're in and your check-in date at the end of the rows. A hollow dot means nothing reached Kipp that day, never that you missed it. Weeks are graded against your own target, and only full weeks count. No block yet? The card says how to set one with Kipp in the chat.
- The morning notification now carries the read. Instead of "today's read is ready", the 7am push tells you what it found: your HRV and sleep against your baseline once your watch has finished writing the night, or the sessions you've banked this week against your target, or the session your plan names for today. There's no verdict in the notification. The call still happens in the chat.
- Your first day with Kipp is free, all of it. New members get 24 hours of full access from the end of onboarding, on top of the free messages, so the first morning read lands before any question about paying does. Also fixed: some athletes were asked to subscribe one message early.
- Membership has a place in Settings. Until now the only way to join was to be stopped by the paywall first. There's now a Membership row (plans, free trial, restore) you can open whenever you decide.
- When the free day ends, Kipp shows what it held: your messages, meals and reads, today's session, tomorrow's read and your check-in date. The membership screen shows the week from your own plan instead of a list of features. And a morning read that lands after the free day says so plainly, instead of offering replies it can't answer.
1.0.18 Sep 5
Logging the same meal twice. If you sent a photo and then also told Kipp what was on the plate, you could end up with both: the card was still sitting there waiting to be tapped, and tapping it wrote a second entry for food you ate once. Kipp now recognises it as the same meal, closes the card, and tells you it did.
- Kipp was reading your recovery before your watch had finished writing it. Your phone opens the new day at midnight, so for a few hours the morning read can still be carrying last night's numbers. Kipp was grading that half-finished read against your baselines and telling people to back off on mornings when their numbers had actually settled fine. It now waits for the real read before calling the day.
- Connecting a device during setup no longer goes nowhere. If you linked Garmin, Strava or Apple Health and then closed the screen instead of tapping "Analyze my last 3 months", the connection worked but Kipp never saw it and the conversation just stopped. Closing now runs the analysis.
- Photo meals are included in your free messages when you start out, so the first thing Kipp asks you to do, snap a plate, no longer hits the paywall. The one-tap corrections on an estimate ("no oil", "half portion") are free.
- New members now get five morning check-ins before subscribing instead of one. The check-in is the thing Kipp is built around, and one was not enough to see what it does.
1.0.17 Aug 30
Your workout cards were reading "Session deleted" for sessions that were sitting safely in your log the whole time. The card only ever knew about today, so at midnight it stopped recognising its own session. Nothing was lost, and older cards fill themselves back in when you open the app.
- Kipp's evening check-ins, Sunday recaps and reminders could arrive as a notification and then not be in the chat until you force-quit the app. Worse, the next thing you did in the app erased them. Both fixed.
- A meal could be logged twice if your connection dropped mid-message. And when Kipp offers to clear a duplicate and log it back as a single entry, it can now actually do that instead of only saying so.
- Kipp now replies in the language you write in. If you start in German or Portuguese it stays there, instead of drifting into English after one tap.
- Logged strength sessions now show total volume, and repeated sets collapse to "3 x 6 @ 100kg" instead of printing the same set three times.
- Your weekly plan card was rendering as a solid orange block. It is readable again.
- Kipp's welcome and morning check-in now offer a few tappable follow-ups, so you can reply without typing.
- Plain water no longer turns up in your food log as a meal.
- New members get their first few coaching messages free instead of one, and if you subscribe mid-conversation your question now goes through instead of being dropped.
1.0.16 Aug 27
Kipp was saving sessions you had only talked about, and adding water you had already logged. Both are fixed, along with four other things that were quietly corrupting your numbers.
- A session you discussed but never did could be saved as completed: exercises Kipp had just prescribed, a run you were planning for tomorrow, or a number you quoted while answering a question. That inflated your session count, marked habits as hit, and told you the next morning the work was already banked. Kipp now logs what you report doing, not what you talked about.
- Telling Kipp a total for the day, like "I have only had 1.5L so far", added that on top of what was already logged instead of correcting it. It now works out the difference. And if you ask Kipp to clear your water logs and say yes, they are actually cleared. It used to say it had, and delete nothing.
- Correcting a meal and tapping Log it before the new estimate arrived saved the old numbers. Log it now waits for the correction.
- A run described in minutes per mile was stored as minutes per kilometre, which under-recorded the distance. Fixed.
- Time in bed is no longer recorded as time asleep, and an impossible night is dropped rather than becoming the sleep baseline every later night gets judged against.
- How Kipp sees you is rebuilt around what you agreed, what has happened since, and Kipp's read of it. Your check-in now tells you it is due or overdue instead of showing a date that has quietly passed.
- If you go quiet, Kipp says so once and then leaves you alone until you reply. It used to check in every evening, indefinitely.
- Your first message to Kipp after onboarding is now free, so you get a real answer before deciding about a membership.
1.0.15 Aug 24
Your training plan now has a screen, and three bugs that were losing or corrupting your logged data are fixed.
- Your plan has a home. Open Settings, tap your name, and How Kipp sees you shows your week day by day with the habits you agreed. Ask Kipp where your plan is and you get a card, not directions to a tab that does not exist.
- Hand Kipp your own plan. Photograph or upload a training plan and Kipp reads it, keeps it, and talks you through it against what you are actually running or lifting. It will not quietly replace the plan you are on, adopting it stays your call.
- Kipp could report no water logged moments after you logged it, blame the app, and ask you to enter it again, which doubled your day. It now reads your real total.
- Asking to take one item out of a meal could delete the whole meal while Kipp said the rest had been re-logged. It now corrects the meal and leaves the rest alone.
- One gym session typed across two messages could be saved as two or three sessions, one of them empty, inflating your session count everywhere it appears.
- Days your plan groups together, like "Tue, Thu, Sat", were only read as the first one, so Kipp saw nothing planned on the others.
- The mic is back when you attach a photo, so you can talk through what is on the plate instead of typing it.
- Tell Kipp your race date and it now sticks.
1.0.14 Aug 19
Insights has been rebuilt, and the numbers in your training log got a pass.
- Insights is redesigned. Strength is now a ledger of every lift with the set behind it, and your main barbell lifts sort to the top instead of a machine accessory headlining the card. Endurance, recovery, hydration and habits were all redrawn to show what your data actually covers.
- One gym visit could be logged as two separate sessions, which doubled your session count everywhere it appears: your habits, Insights, your Sunday recap and the widget.
- Your habits card counted sessions differently from the grade above it, so a full bar could sit under a header saying nothing was on track. Both now use the same count.
- Kipp no longer removes a reading you did not ask it to remove. Telling it this morning's weight is not a reason to clear last week's.
- The calories and protein Kipp says you have left now update when you log something mid-conversation, instead of repeating the figure from before the meal.
1.0.13 Aug 14
Kipp can now remind you about something and actually hear your answer.
- Ask Kipp to remind you about anything on a schedule, your iron, your creatine, your physio. The reminder arrives as a card you can check off with Took it or Skipped, you can answer straight from the notification without opening the app, and telling Kipp in the chat counts too. It only ever counts the nights it actually asked you.
- If you train twice in a day, both sessions now show up. Two sessions of the same kind on the same day from the same device could be merged into one, so a second walk or a second run went missing from Insights along with its calories.
- If you weigh in regularly, Kipp now checks whether the calorie target it gave you matches what your own food log and weight trend say you are actually burning, and raises it with you when they disagree.
1.0.12 Aug 9
This one is mostly about the numbers in your log being right.
- Logging an item with no numbers ("the yogurt") could save your whole day's calories and protein onto that one item. Fixed, and the meals it affected have been corrected.
- Ask Kipp to remove a reading and it does: a glucose reading, a weigh-in, a water log, an injury you mentioned. A bare number in chat could also be saved as a blood sugar reading. That is fixed and the bad readings are gone.
- Kipp now checks your calorie target against what your body burns at rest, and tells you when it is too low to train on instead of coaching you to it.
- Talk in pounds and Kipp logs pounds. A bare "205" on a lift no longer lands as 205 kg.
- Sleep averages could read about a third of your real sleep, and a night recorded by two apps counted twice. Both fixed.
- Say "eating now" and Kipp logs the meal you just worked out with it, instead of asking what you ate.
1.0.11 Aug 4
Ask Kipp to remind you, and it actually sends it.
- "Remind me to take my iron at 7:30 pm, every other day." Kipp sets it, sends it at your time, and cancels it when you say so, instead of promising to remember.
- New in Insights: an endurance card with distance, pace, and heart rate for every discipline you train, a strength card built from your real top sets, and fiber. Recovery now leads with whatever your device actually measures.
- Your weekly sessions are counted by discipline, so a walk no longer ticks off a strength session. When Kipp can't see any training at all, it asks instead of marking it as missed.
- Kipp now reads your exercise minutes and body basics from Apple Health, so it stops asking you to type in what your phone already knows. You'll see a new permission request.
- Fixed a message sent twice coming back with two different answers.
1.0.10 Aug 1
Kipp now reads your body scan reports and takes a correction the first time.
- Send a body composition report (Arboleaf, Withings, Renpho, InBody, DEXA) or a photo of your scale, and your weight, body fat and measurements get logged from it instead of just described back to you.
- Your week gets a recap on Sunday, and when you hit a real PR or your longest ride yet, Kipp writes you a card worth sharing.
- Charts are titled by the data they actually have, so you never get a month-long chart covering three weeks.
1.0.9 Jul 29
Kipp now reads your recovery straight from a screenshot.
- Paste a readiness or sleep screenshot from Oura, Whoop, Garmin, or Apple Health into the chat and Kipp reads your recovery score, HRV, resting heart rate, and sleep off it, then uses it as today's recovery read. If your wearable isn't one Kipp can connect to yet, this is how it finally sees your mornings instead of saying it has no recovery data.
- Redesigned home-screen widgets. Your Fuel widget now leads with the calories you have LEFT for the day, the weekly view shows an unlogged day as an empty slot instead of a misleading zero, and your weight trend is colored by the direction you're actually chasing.
- Ask how much you've trained lately and Kipp now counts both the sessions you logged and the ones your watch measured, instead of missing half of them.
- A session you and Kipp agree on in chat now shows up in the next morning's check-in instead of being forgotten overnight.
- Charts Kipp draws in chat render cleaner and wider.
1.0.8 Jul 26
- Tell Kipp what's coming - travel, a dinner out, a slammed week - and he adapts instead of nagging. He'll move a hard session off a travel day, fuel the night out, and leave a day you flagged as light alone.
- Fresh app icon.
- Fixed older Insights workouts showing an "est." burn when your watch had measured them. They now read as measured as far back as the data goes.
- Fixed a re-sent message occasionally coming back with two different replies.
- Onboarding is now resumable, so an interrupted setup no longer starts over.
1.0.7 Jul 24
- Your training plan can change as your training does. When something has genuinely shifted, Kipp proposes one specific adjustment and waits for you to agree. Nothing changes on its own.
- Charts Kipp draws in chat, when you ask him to break down a stretch of training or nutrition, are now clearer and easier to read.
1.0.6 Jul 21
- Kipp remembers what you actually lifted or ran last time and builds today's session from those numbers. "Last time you pressed 30kg for 10" is now the starting point, not a generic prescription.
- Your morning check-in reads what you did, not just what was planned. Bank yesterday's ride, and Kipp says the week is done, instead of telling you to go ride again.
- Fuel advice now names food you actually eat, with the macros you logged for it, instead of a generic "150g lean beef with rice".
- Your training plan can now change as your training does. When something has genuinely shifted, Kipp proposes one specific adjustment and waits for you to agree. Nothing changes on its own.
- Fixed a bug where correcting a meal downward ("I didn't finish it") deleted the whole meal instead of adjusting it.
- Fixed the morning check-in firing at 1am about a day that had not happened yet, which then used up that day's check-in.
- No wearable? Kipp stops asking about recovery data he can never read. If your watch has stopped reporting, he mentions it once.
- You can now swipe between Insights, Chat and Settings.
1.0.5 Jul 20
- Kipp now gives something back as you go, sharing what he's seeing in your data instead of only asking questions.
- Your plan reveal is now two focused pages built around your milestone, replacing the old seven-page walkthrough.
- Your plan now arrives with your calorie and macro targets already set, instead of waiting up to a week for them.
- Kipp now asks whether you want to lose, gain, or hold weight rather than inferring it from how you phrased your goal.
1.0.4 Jul 16
- A bold new look across chat, Insights, and Settings, with easier-to-read data cards.
- Connect your Apple Watch for recovery, sleep, and workouts.
- Bloodwork results now highlight what matters, with the full panel one tap away.
- Garmin and Apple Health sessions now count toward your weekly training goals.
- Fixed a bug where a chat-logged workout could fail to save, plus other reliability improvements.
1.0.3 Jul 16
- Workout logging is now rock-solid, with a clear confirmation every time you log.
- Ask Kipp to fix or remove a logged meal or workout and it edits the real entry, or asks if it's unsure.
- Tell Kipp about an injury or illness and it tracks it and programs around it.
- Smarter, more personal evening check-ins based on your daily rhythm.
- More accurate Insights: no more double-counted activity, newest-first sessions, tap a day for its calorie total.
- Fixed a login screen flash for returning users.
1.0.2 Jul 14
- Track your blood sugar - log a reading in chat or snap your CGM, and see your trend in Insights.
- Now tracking fiber on every meal you log.
- A redesigned photo scan - watch Kipp read your plate and count up the macros in real time.
- Your morning check-in now includes a "Today's Focus" card: one clear action for the day.
- Kipp can now draw trend lines in chat, not just bar charts.
- Kipp is time-aware - no more asking about lunch at night.
- Faster replies, plus fixes so your logged meals, water, and workout corrections always stick.
