Macchiato is a chat app built from the ground up for talking to your AI agent — not to other people. Personal agents today borrow human messaging apps like Telegram or Discord. But those apps were designed for people talking to people, so an agent's real work — tool calls, file edits, approvals, progress — gets flattened into a wall of text. Macchiato is different: every part of the interface is designed around the way an agent actually works. PAIR YOUR OWN AGENT Scan a QR code to securely link the agent running on your own machine. Macchiato is the front end; your agent stays where you run it. Add more than one and switch between them in a tap. SEE STRUCTURE, NOT A WALL OF TEXT • Tool calls render as clean cards instead of raw logs • File changes show up as readable diffs • Approvals become real buttons you tap to allow or deny — and the history shows exactly what you approved • Replies stream in token-by-token, and you can interrupt any time TALK, TYPE, OR SEND FILES • Hold to talk: record a voice message and your agent transcribes it • Attach images, PDFs, and documents • Rich Markdown, code blocks, and tables, rendered natively with selectable text STAY ORGANIZED • Keep many conversations going at once and jump between them instantly • Full-text search across your whole history • Pin, rename, and archive conversations PRIVACY BY DESIGN • Passwordless email sign-in — no password to leak • Optional per-conversation end-to-end encryption: your device and your own agent hold the keys, and our servers only relay the ciphertext • We never sell your messages, use them to target ads, or train models on them Built as a fully native iOS app — system typography, materials, haptics, and automatic light and dark themes — so it feels at home on your iPhone. Note: Macchiato is the client for an AI agent that you run yourself (for example, a Hermes agent on your own machine). You pair your agent once by scanning a QR code; the app talks to it through our relay.

Projects: register a folder as shared project memory (AGENTS.md) your agents read every turn — filter and group chats by project. Voice messages are more reliable: swipe-to-cancel and tap-to-record now work as expected, and recordings are no longer sent by accident when you switch apps. Smoother reading: the jump-to-latest button and auto-scroll behave correctly while an agent is streaming. Quote a selection when you reply — your reply now keeps exactly the part you quoted. Appearance: choose System, Light, or Dark. Plus a clear, in-app summary of how your messages are handled, and many fixes and refinements.
