Sharper prices. If a shop doesn't list your exact vintage, Caveau now estimates from nearby years of the same wine and tells you which years it used. Estimates for everyday bottles are better tuned to real shop prices, gains and losses use real price ranges, and your portfolio shows how much of your cellar is priced from current shop listings. Hundreds more famous wines from around the world now have current prices.

Drinking a bottle is now one tap: tap Drink one, or swipe or hold it in your cellar. Rate it and Caveau tells you if it played above what you paid. Undo if you slipped. New Drink soon list puts the bottles that need opening first, and values are now per bottle everywhere, including a new Worth per bottle sort.

Follows 1.4.0, live since 30 Aug. One theme: the app was good at taking bottles in and had no idea when they came out. In the 30 days to 17 Sep, 18 people added a bottle and one person logged drinking one. Not because logging was hard, but because nothing ever asked. Drink it. Rate it. One tap. • Tonight's Pour now takes the answer. It has always told you what to open; it never asked whether you did. Tap "Drinking it — log it" right on the card, tap a star, done, without leaving the first screen. • "Drink one" moved to the top of the bottle screen. It used to sit below the drinking window, the market value, both ratings, the community notes, the food pairings and the serving guide. It is now the first thing under the name. • Logging a bottle is one gesture. Tapping a star IS the log. No second confirm, no form. Not in the mood to rate it? "Log it without rating" is right there. • The tasting note is now optional and out of the way, behind "Add a tasting note". It was sitting in the required path and nobody was filling it in. • NEW: follow Caveau. Settings now links to our Instagram and getcaveau.com. Under the hood: we can now see where the drink-log loses people, whether they never reach a bottle, never find the button, or start a log and abandon it. We could only ever see the logs that finished, which made every fix a guess. The next change to this flow will be measured rather than assumed.

Bang for the buck, measured. • NEW: every bottle now tells you whether it plays above or below its price point — from how YOU rated it against what YOU paid, not a critic's number. Haven't rated it yet? The bottle asks, and answers the moment you do. • Every price now shows where it came from — what you paid, merchant listings, our estimate — and is drawn only as precisely as that source has earned. The bands got WIDER, because we measured how wide they need to be: on 1,376 held-out wines with real prices, our old band contained about 30% of them. • Prices now come from real shops where real shops carry the wine — several listings agreed, not one, with the range they actually span. • Ratings got the same treatment. A rating built only from our baseline now shows as a range with "baseline only" under it, instead of a confident-looking number. One members have actually rated shows as the number it is. • Where we can, a rating now says the only thing we can genuinely prove: "better than N% of 13,015 blind-judged wines" — from competition data we own. • Your cellar's gain or loss no longer claims a direction the numbers can't support. When the estimate is too uncertain to call, it says so instead of picking a side. • The insurance schedule moved to replacement cost — what it would cost to buy each bottle again at an ordinary shop, which is what policies schedule against and is higher than a resale figure. • Fixed: opening a bottle for detail could crash the app. • Why it works this way: across those 13,015 wines the median score is 88 in every single price bracket. Price barely predicts quality — so "good value" can only mean a wine you loved that cost little.
