Somnary is a private dream journal with no account, no cloud and no subscription required. Your dreams live only on your iPhone, for your eyes only, and a one-tap encrypted export moves your whole dream diary to a new phone whenever you choose.
Most dream journal apps fail the same way: they lose your entries when you switch phones, paywall your own backup, show a teaser and then demand $20 a month, and hand you the same generic AI "interpretation" as everyone else. Somnary was built to do the opposite.

• Offline and encrypted — the whole journal works offline, and export writes a passphrase-encrypted backup file that you keep and move yourself. Backup and export are free.
• An honest reading, free — the Dream Decoder reads the symbols in each dream and shows its reflection in full. Free, on-device, never a teaser.
• No AI — the Decoder is a deterministic engine with a hand-written symbol library, not a chatbot. The same dream always reads the same way.

CAPTURE A DREAM THE MOMENT YOU WAKE
Your draft saves as you type and comes back if the app closes, so a dream written at 4am is not lost. Log the title and the dream, the night you dreamed it and the time, your mood on waking, sleep quality, vividness, lucidity on a 0–4 scale, a nightmare flag and your own tags. The vault is ordered by the night you dreamed, so a dream you add days later still files under its own date.

Still half asleep? Say "Hey Siri, log a dream in Somnary" and speak it. Siri saves your note without opening the app, and it is waiting in your vault the next time you open Somnary. (iOS 16 or later.)

Search every dream's title, text and tags at once, or tap one of your own tags to filter the vault. Search runs on your phone.

A LUCID-DREAM TRAINER THAT KEEPS GOING
Schedule reality-check reminders across your waking hours. They repeat every day, so the habit behind lucid dreaming keeps coming back instead of quietly stopping after a day.
A PRIVACY LOCK AND DARK MODE, FREE
Turn on the privacy lock and your vault stays behind a lock screen until you choose to open it. Dark mode is free, because you write at 3am.
SOMNARY+ (OPTIONAL)
Somnary+ adds the Deep Decoder (how your symbols and moods connect over time), guided MILD / WBTB / WILD lucid-dreaming walkthroughs, Nightmare Rescript and extra palettes. Nightmare Rescript is a gentle, self-guided journaling exercise: name the moment the dream turned, write a new ending in the present tense, and rehearse it. Everything runs on your phone. Choose monthly, annual with a 7-day free trial, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.
Invite a friend: when they enter your code, you both get 30 days of Somnary+ free. The invite sends only a random install ID and the code — never your dreams.
