Cadence: Am I On or Off
Shift rotation calendar
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
Am I on or off? One glance. Continental, 2-2-3, DuPont, 4/4, 3/3, 7/7, 14/14, 2-4 — plus week numbers, partner overlap, best breaks, Siri and Apple Watch. Free.
Cadence is a shift rotation calendar for people who work an on/off schedule. It answers one question, beautifully: am I working today, or am I off?
If your life runs on a rotation — 2-2-3 Pitman, DuPont, 4-on-4-off, 7/7 hitch, 14/14 offshore, 4/3, or a pattern all your own — Cadence turns it into a calm, glanceable answer. Open the app and you see one big word: ON or OFF. That's it.
WHAT MAKES CADENCE DIFFERENT
• The glance. A weather-app-simple home screen — one word, not a dense grid.
• "When am I free?" A first-class feature. See your next stretch of days off and exactly when it lands, without scanning a calendar by eye.
• "When are WE free?" Add a partner's rotation by hand — no app or account on their end — and see the stretches you're both off, or check whether a date works for everyone.
• Ask Siri. "Am I on tomorrow?" "When am I next free?" "When are we both free?" Works from Spotlight, Shortcuts, and the Action button too.
• Apple Watch. ON or OFF, your week, and your next stretch off, on your wrist.
• No account. No subscription. Free.
• Genuinely good design, with a considered dark mode.
EVERY ROTATION, BY NAME
• 2-2-3 (Pitman / Panama) for fire, police, and plant crews
• DuPont 28-day rotation
• Continental 2-2-2 and the five-crew 6-on-4-off (2-2-2-4)
• 4-on-4-off and 3-on-3-off
• 7/7 hitch, 14/14 offshore, and the Norwegian 2-4 rotation
• 4/3, or any custom X-on / Y-off pattern
Set the first day of your next on-stretch and the whole year fills in.
MADE FOR EUROPE TOO
• Weeks start on Monday and ISO week numbers run down the calendar (KW 38 / v. 38).
• Monthly pay by default outside the US — no American overtime assumptions.
• Prices and currency follow your region.
PLAN YOUR TIME OFF
• Find my best breaks: tell Cadence how many leave days you have and it finds the dates that buy the longest unbroken break — and how many of those days your partner is off too.
• Vacation planner: pencil in a day or two and see how they merge with your off-stretch into one long break.
BUILT FOR CREWS, NOT JUST CALENDARS
• Shift swaps: log who you traded with and which days. Both days update everywhere.
• Overtime: mark a long day or an extra shift with its real hours — pay uses them.
• Pay period band: see exactly which days land in this paycheck, right on the calendar, with shifts, hours, and estimated gross. Overtime is counted on your employer's full workweek.
• Lock-screen and home-screen widgets: ON/OFF today, days left, next free stretch.
• Share your schedule with family or a coworker as an image or a calendar file — no app needed on their end.
• Day-before reminders and shift alarms so you never miss a start.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your schedule, household, and pay stay on your device and sync through your own iCloud. No analytics that harvest you, no ads, no sign-up.
SUPPORT, NOT A PAYWALL
Cadence is free. If it helps you, there's an optional tip jar and a one-time, cosmetic-only Supporter Pack — extra accent colors, on-day colors, alternate app icons, and a supporter badge. Nothing you need to plan your life is behind a price, and there is no subscription.
Made by one person, on nights off. Tell a coworker.
Ratings & Reviews
NEW — European rotations, by name: 3-on-3-off, the Continental 2-2-2, 6-on-4-off (the Dutch five-crew 2-2-2-4 and UK "6 on 4 off"), and the Norwegian 2-4 offshore rotation join 2-2-3, DuPont, 4/4, 7/7 and 14/14.
NEW — ISO week numbers down the side of the calendar (KW 38, v. 38), on by default wherever the week starts on Monday. Toggle in Settings.
IMPROVED — Sensible defaults outside the US: the week starts on Monday, pay is monthly, and Cadence no longer assumes American 40-hour weekly overtime. Everything stays editable.
IMPROVED — The Supporter Pack and tips from 1.3 are live; thank you to everyone who chipped in.
