While a shift is running, SiteOps watches a geofence around the site and can automatically clock a worker out the moment they leave, so nobody has to remember. Employers get an accurate, tamper-resistant record of who worked where and when. While you are clocked in, it uses background location to detect when you leave the site and clock you out automatically. Background location is used ONLY during an active shift and stops the moment you clock out — when you're off the clock, SiteOps does not track your location. Because location is monitored continuously during a shift, background GPS use can affect battery life. Automatic clock-out requires "Always" location permission; if you don't grant it, the app shows a banner and everything else keeps working.
