RunWay: Every Run Is A Flight
Flight-Themed Run Tracker
Free · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
Turn every run into a flight.
RunWay is a running tracker that shows your run the way an aircraft cockpit shows
a flight. Pace, heart rate, cadence and altitude are read as instruments rather
than numbers, and you get an alert the moment you drift off target. Built by a
former aircraft maintenance engineer.
■ Two flight modes
MISSION FLIGHT is for running to a target pace or heart rate. Step outside your
tolerance and it tells you right away, and it calls out your approach 50 m before
the target distance.
FREE FLIGHT is for running without a target. No alerts, just the record.
■ GPWS alerts
Drop below your target and SINK RATE sounds; go above it and OVERSPEED does. You
can hear where you are without looking at the screen. Every alert is marked on the
map so you can go back to it afterwards.
■ FLIGHT DATA RECORDER
Pick any moment of a run you have already finished. Drag the trace and the pace,
heart rate, cadence and altitude from that instant come up together, with the point
on the map where you were running. Sampled every five seconds.
■ DEBRIEF
Some things only show up once runs pile up. Debrief lays out how your pace tends to
flow, how your heart rate answers the same pace on different days, and where your
alerts keep going off. It compares runs of similar distance, so read it as a hint
rather than a diagnosis.
■ Apple Watch
Use the watch on its own, the iPhone on its own, or both together. Whichever one
you start or finish on, you end up with a single record. The watch reads your heart
rate and puts the instruments on your wrist.
■ Records and data
Splits are kept for every kilometre, and the calendar and logbook let you find any
run again. Each kilometre is announced by voice and marked by a haptic.
Everything stays on your device. You can back it up to your own iCloud whenever you
press the button, and nothing is sent anywhere else. No ads, no analytics.
Available in English, Korean and Japanese.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
- Flipped the PACE lane in the FLIGHT DATA RECORDER so a faster pace sits higher. The other three lanes still read bigger-is-higher.
- Pace slower than 33:00/km is no longer recorded. Only a standing start or a full stop produces those values, which is what left readings like 40:00/km behind.
- Stretches where a value left the lane are now marked with a bar along the edge, so they can be told apart from a gap with nothing recorded.
- The graphs in the FLIGHT DATA RECORDER are drawn taller.
- Fixed the distance being cut off on the Watch past 20 km.
- The watch now buzzes at every kilometer in runs started from the phone, not just in runs started on the watch.
- Split voice callouts now come from whichever device your earphones are connected to. Paired to the watch, the watch reads them; paired to the phone, the app does.
- Fixed split voice callouts going silent from the second run onward when you started another run without quitting the app.
