Bit-perfect audio to your USB DAC - PCM to 768kHz, native DSD and SACD, with a status line that shows the lock. Optional conversion to match your DAC. No subscription. Desibel plays your music bit-perfect - the exact samples in your files, sent untouched to an external USB DAC. Most players quietly resample, mix, or apply volume and EQ before the audio ever reaches your DAC. Desibel doesn't. It hands each track to your DAC in its own native integer format and locks the hardware to the file's sample rate. By default, nothing sits between your files and your DAC - no resampling, no dithering, no mixing, no hidden volume stage. And it shows you. A status line on every track says exactly what's happening: • PCM / DSD - a clean bit-perfect lock at the file's native rate • DSD -> PCM - a disclosed, controlled DSD-to-PCM conversion for DACs that can't lock raw DSD • PCM UPSAMPLED / PCM -> DSD / PCM −6.02 dB - an optional conversion you turned on (see Output matching) • RESAMPLED BY iOS / NON-USB OUTPUT - the audio couldn't stay bit-perfect on this route; it still plays, and you're told You always know whether you're hearing bit-perfect audio. It is never silently degraded. OUTPUT MATCHING (OPTIONAL) Bit-perfect is the default, and every conversion stays off unless you turn it on. If your DAC is at its best at a particular rate or format, you can opt in to: • Upsample PCM to a higher rate in the same family • Convert PCM to DSD • Lower the PCM level by exactly 6.02 dB for headroom - every sample halved, no filter Each is output matching for your DAC, not a fidelity improvement - done in integer, kept off the playback path, and always shown in the status line, never as a bit-perfect lock.
