Bring your own audio: import a Japanese audio file or link and we'll transcribe it, so you can tap any word, read along with furigana, and save what you're learning — just like with the shows. Plus bug fixes and improvements.

Word cards just got richer. Tap any word — in transcripts, in your saved words, or in dictionary search — to see the real sentences it appears in across our shows and hear them spoken, now with furigana over the kanji. Each card also shows synonyms: related words, how they differ, and when to use each. Plus a fix: words you saved from YouTube now correctly show where you saved them.

Save the exact phrase: press-hold and drag the transcript to keep just the words you want as a Moment — the surrounding sentence stays as context, and playback plays only that phrase. Copy and export full transcripts (Pro), with a quick guided tour. YouTube transcripts are more reliable and load faster, video lengths appear on channel pages, and your recently-watched channels show up on Home. Mark the exact spot you missed with "I got lost" for a focused explanation, and review saved phrases as fill-in-the-blank clozes over the audio. The dictionary now credits its source (JMdict). Plus tap-a-word-to-seek, a tighter transcript layout, and localization polish.

Share links now open right in Wakatta — tap a channel or video link a friend sends and it opens in the app instead of the browser. We also fixed a glitch where transcript words could shift as the current word was highlighted, so the text stays steady now. Plus more reliable video loading and small fixes.

The new Videos lens brings 170+ hand-picked Japanese YouTube channels — learners, vlogs, food, gaming and more — with the same tap-to-look-up transcript, furigana and saved words you use for podcasts. • Shows now holds both Podcasts and Videos — switch at the top, search channels (even in romaji) and follow your favorites. • Review a saved word or moment right from its video clip, and see which channel it came from. • Polish and fixes throughout.
