Turn what’s on your screen into something worth sharing. Verismo brings screen recording and video editing together for clear, engaging tutorials, product demos, and everyday presentations. Record a display, window, or selected area, then guide your audience with zooms, cursor effects, captions, and annotations. Version 1.17.3 makes editing feel more fluid. Keep your preview steady through consecutive cuts, and use in-app voice commands to access 35 editing presets, including playback, clip navigation, and splitting. Test recognition in Settings before using it in your project. Improved handling of microphone changes and audio formats helps you keep creating with fewer interruptions. In-app voice recognition supports English, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese. It requires your own OpenAI API key. Command audio is sent to OpenAI when you invoke recognition, and API usage is billed separately. macOS Voice Control is also available as a separate option.

Keep your ideas moving—with your voice. This update brings together the improvements from 1.17.0–1.17.2 for a smoother journey from recording to final export. - Meet Voice Actions Use the new panel with macOS Voice Control to navigate by source time, frame, or captured click. Select clips, captions, annotations, and zooms; edit text; add or move annotations; split, exclude, restore, undo, and open export. Undo, Redo, and export stay in view. - Clearer, more accessible controls Pause and Resume are now explicit recording menu actions. Select timeline captions and annotations without changing their timing. Transcript controls announce text, source context, and selection or exclusion state more clearly, and the marker action now has its missing spoken label. - More dependable recording Improved handling of recording startup, pause, resume, and stop—including rapid changes and empty audio or video inputs. Camera timing stays aligned when the camera is hidden, with consistent results in preview and export, even when it stays hidden through Stop. - More freedom to refine your edit Fixed music file selection and added imported-audio validation. Replacing music or voiceover preserves track settings, and Undo safely restores previous audio. Audio controls and clip restoration support Undo. Restoring a selected clip leaves neighboring excluded footage untouched. - Better project and preview handling New recordings use unique folders and keep your chosen default layout. Audio imports coordinate with saves to avoid false file-change warnings. Outdated preview loads are ignored, closing the editor stops playback, and opening the Library from Settings takes you to the right place. - Exports you can rely on Cancel stalled exports, keep existing output files if an export fails, and avoid interference from cancelled batch jobs when starting a new run. Temporary export files are cleaned up. The 15 fps GIF preset preserves your edited duration more accurately instead of gradually slowing playback. - A more complete experience in three languages Expanded English, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese coverage for recording readiness, permissions, recording and export errors, batch results, audio analysis, AI status, Undo, and timeline labels. Generated messages follow your in-app language setting, and English counts use the correct singular or plural form.

- Reimagined Library, Settings, and theme experience with more expressive typography and clearer spacing for faster discovery. - Right-aligned all Settings switches and removed redundant configuration patterns for a cleaner control surface. - Simplified Editor style panels by removing duplicated controls and reorganizing panels into clearer sections.

• A canvas-first editor and new first-edit guide make reviewing, splitting, polishing, and exporting easier. • Safer clip editing prevents accidental deletion of the last active clip. • Recording controls now have clearer, more balanced spacing. • More reliable region selection and source picking across multiple displays. • App Store purchases and restore are now available for approved premium themes.

Unified inspector choices behind reusable segmented and menu pickers for cursor, background, webcam, branding, and caption controls. Refined Library filtering with a responsive toolbar, result count, and removable active-filter chips. Split General and Recording settings into focused panes and added a Debug-only Developer pane for local commerce diagnostics. Reworked theme commerce around an injectable client so purchase, restore, cancellation, pending, entitlement, and revocation states are testable without App Store access. Added a dedicated Verismo-IAP-Dev scheme and local StoreKit catalog for interactive purchase testing without production transactions. Made the complete local commerce lifecycle available from ordinary development runs, including product loading and prices, purchase, cancellation, pending approval, restore, entitlement updates, refunds, and revocations, while keeping every Archive action StoreKit-free. Moved Pop Banana, Utamaro, and Hiroshige commerce fully back into development mode; both production editions now include all three themes unlocked and contain no StoreKit linkage or product identifiers. Expanded CI to run app and commerce tests, build both distribution editions, validate localization completeness, and verify project generation. Completed missing Simplified Chinese and Japanese editor strings and removed unsafe optional and index assumptions from editor and export paths.

Sharing state always ends. The macOS system source picker now deactivates after recording completion, discard, failure, setup cancellation, and preflight-only checks, so the sharing indicator cannot remain active when no recording starts. Recording survives Presenter Overlay. Mid-recording pixel-format and dimension changes are normalized before writing, with a plain-HEVC fallback on Macs that cannot encode HEVC with alpha. Timeline notes resize correctly. Caption and annotation pills have larger edge handles, accurate hit regions, and resize cursors for changing their duration without moving the whole pill. Deleting timeline notes is safe. Caption and annotation inspectors and canvas controls resolve edits by stable IDs instead of captured array indexes, preventing an out-of-range crash during SwiftUI teardown. Capture failures are actionable. Broken recordings surface the recovery reason saved by the capture pipeline instead of only showing the media player's generic error. Distribution boundaries stay explicit. Direct downloads contain every bundled theme without StoreKit or IAP identifiers; App Store release builds retain their StoreKit catalog. Theme ordering and recording-control spacing are consistent across editions.

Three-pane studio editor. A sections rail on the left (Frame · Webcam · Overlays · Motion · Audio · Script, ⌘1–⌘6) with a collapsible panel, the canvas and timeline in the middle, and a dedicated selection inspector on the right. Dark mode. Dark by default, with a System / Light / Dark switch in Settings ▸ Themes — applied app-wide with no launch flash. Ambient themes. The chrome wears the active theme's ambience: leaf green by default, Friday Night's party crimson, Christmas's candle gold — re-tinting live when the theme changes. Per-track timeline. Every caption and annotation owns its own timeline row; beyond three rows the band scrolls, keeping the canvas height stable. Compact transport & adaptive toolbar. The playback cluster stacks its time readout under the buttons; the action bar drops to icons when space is tight. Clear text editing. Captions and text annotations get labelled, bordered multi-line text boxes. Shortcut fixes. ⌘1–⌘6 section switching, Delete on selected annotations, and arrow-key nudging now work reliably. Localization fixes. Inspector headers that rendered raw English in 中文/日本語 builds are now translated.

Broadcast — publish, on-brand Branding Kit adds intro/outro cards and a corner watermark; Audio Ducking keeps music under speech; AI Publish Kit drafts title, description, and chapters from transcript plus markers. Cursor spotlight + click sounds ship in preview and export parity, global record shortcuts are remappable with conflict badges, and long takes now transcribe past Whisper's 25 MB cap via silence-split chunking and timeline stitch.

Showtime — the creator workflow - Reusable Creator Styles and sequential Export Sets turn one recording into branded YouTube, Shorts, square, 4:5, MP4, GIF, and captioned deliverables. - Transcript-native cuts, first-class caption styles, region capture, voiceover replacement, Quick Share, frame shadows.

Fix UI display bug for library

Added — Global record shortcuts. Added — System audio capture. Fixed — Live-mute keeps the audio lane on the clock. Added — GIF and captions in the editor's export panel. Added — Recordings know their own name. Changed — The export panel reads as three questions, not eight presets.

Added — Christmas theme. A new pack in Settings ▸ Themes beside Friday Night: new recordings get a candle-lit evergreen "waves" background, drifting snowfall, a twinkling Christmas tree in the bottom-left corner, and a gingerbread man and stocking swaying from the top corners. While the theme is on, the app's brand marks (Library sidebar, floating control bar) wear the Christmas edition of the logo. Added — Christmas decorations in the editor. Frame ▸ Decorations grows four toggles — Christmas tree, Gingerbread man, Stocking, and Snowfall — usable on any recording, any theme, individually or together, and rendered identically in preview and export like the Friday Night props. Added — Christmas background preset. The background preset grid gains the theme's animated evergreen-and-candlelight palette. Added — 9:16 and 16:9 framing, highlighted. The site's Framing feature panel (en / zh-Hans / ja) now calls out reframing a recording to 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, or 4:5 for landscape, Reels/TikTok/Shorts, or square posts. Added — Themed Dock icon. The Dock/Cmd-Tab icon now swaps to match the active theme's logo (e.g. Christmas' festive mark), applied at launch and whenever the theme changes in Settings ▸ Themes. Fixed — Christmas no longer offers the Friday Night track. The Themes pane's background-music picker now only lists tracks the active theme actually bundles, instead of always listing Friday Night's. Fixed — Missing "Change…" / "Use Default" strings. Settings ▸ General ▸ Recordings had two untranslated raw localization keys instead of button text; both are now filled in for English, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese. Fixed — Cover buttons no longer mismatch in height. "Choose Image…" and "Use Frame" in the editor's Cover inspector could wrap to two lines at the inspector's width while the other stayed on one, making the pair look broken; both now stay single-line.

Zero-permission cursor capture - Cursor overlays, click ripples, and auto-zoom now need no permission — clicks and moves are read from public CoreGraphics state, so they work out of the box in both editions. - Recordings and exports always land in the real ~/Movies folders, and Settings gains Change… so the recordings folder can live anywhere — the pick survives relaunch. Camera bubble polish - The live webcam preview is now a rounded, shadowed M3-style bubble, and rounded PiP is the default style for new recordings. - Camera-on recordings stop reliably: webcam session setup and teardown now run through one serial queue. - Shortcut panels across the app and site now share the same grouped layout and separated keycaps, with localization filled in.
