Every Word Literacy is a structured-literacy reading program for a tutor and child working side by side on one iPad. A parent, teacher, or volunteer sits with the child; the app guides the session step by step, so the adult never needs training in phonics instruction to deliver it well.
Lessons follow a careful skill sequence from Kindergarten through Grade 5 — starting with single letter sounds and short vowels, building through blends, digraphs, and vowel teams to multisyllable words. Placement is by skill, not grade or age: start the child exactly where reading is still tricky, and move at their pace.
Every lesson follows the same predictable rhythm:
• Sound warm-up — quick review of letters and letter teams the child already knows
• New focus — one new sound or pattern, introduced explicitly
• Blending practice — the child sounds out and blends real words built only from taught patterns
• Decodable reading — a short passage written so that every word is decodable with the skills taught so far
A side panel coaches the tutor through each step in plain language: what to say, what to listen for, and what to do when the child stalls. Flag anything that needs another look and the app brings it back for review.
