A safety fix for Review Duplicates, plus everything from 1.2. NEW IN 1.2.1 • Review Duplicates never takes documents OUT of iCloud to keep a copy stored somewhere else. That removes them from your iPhone, iPad and every other Mac, so it is never a local clean-up — Bibliome now stops and explains instead of moving anything. Keeping your iCloud copy and clearing out old local duplicates is unchanged. • Two guarantees are now checked against your disk at the moment you confirm, rather than assumed from how the list was sorted: you can never lose the last copy of a document, and never the copy that lives in your library. • In Reference mode the auto-filer is called "Tag Documents in Place" — which is what it does there: reads each document where it sits and tags it, moving and renaming nothing. ALSO IN THIS RELEASE • Index & Organize now leads. It reads every document where it already is and organizes it into searchable categories — nothing is moved or renamed. That gets you the whole app: search, meaning search and Ask, without rearranging a folder. • Search shows its first results immediately. Settings → AI Model shows the tested options, what each needs from your Mac, and verifies the folder before using it. The one Bibliome ships with is still the default. FIXED • Duplicate Review keeps the right copy. If your library syncs through iCloud, it could rank the pre-move leftovers on your Mac above the live synced documents and offer to trash the wrong ones. It now keeps the copy that lives in your library, names the library it scanned, and asks first. • "Sync my library through iCloud" is never quietly ignored. When macOS was slow to hand over the iCloud folder, Bibliome fell back to the old local one without saying so, then indexed the wrong library. • Every folder you've granted access to is available at launch. Bibliome opened only the first, so on some setups View Library and Ask sat greyed out over a library that was right there. • Undo, then organize again, and it actually organizes again. Undo put your documents back but Bibliome still had them noted as filed, so the next run finished instantly having done nothing. • Deleting the search index to force a clean rebuild no longer leaves you with an empty one, and a scan that finds nothing never replaces a working index. • A failed step says what went wrong. "Failed: exit 1" used to be the whole of it; the details are kept now. • A background pass can't outlive the app. Quitting during a long scan could leave it running invisibly, competing with everything else until you restarted. • Editing your categories says what it means for documents already filed, instead of appearing to do nothing. • Scanned documents keep their text when they move, including when you move them in Finder — the slowest work Bibliome does, previously thrown away and redone. • Rebuilding an index is dramatically faster, an interrupted one keeps what it finished, and background OCR stopped re-opening thousands of already-finished documents on every pass. • Help describes the app you're actually running. Bibliome now requires a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later). It always did in practice — the organizing engine and the on-device AI only run there — but the app would install on an Intel Mac and then fail the moment you tried to use it. This version says so up front instead. NEW • Your very first Organize now shows you the categories before it files anything into them. Bibliome works these out from your own library, and until now the same pass that worked them out also sorted everything against them — so you first saw them afterwards. It now stops and shows you. If you close that review, Bibliome says exactly what it had already moved and offers to put it back; nothing is ever deleted. • Scanned documents keep getting more searchable on their own. Bibliome reads the first pages of a scan right away so it turns up in search quickly, then quietly keeps reading the rest in the background — only while you're not using the app and the Mac is plugged in. A status line at the bottom of the sidebar says what it's doing, and "Finish Now at Full Speed" hands the job to every core if you'd rather not wait. Nothing is read twice, and quitting never loses the work. • Ask now tells you when it's working from a document it hasn't finished reading, instead of presenting a partial read as a complete one. FIXED • Read-only documents are no longer left out of your library. In "leave files in place" mode a read-only file can't be tagged, and that was costing the document its category altogether — so it went missing from your categories, from search and from Ask. Both filing passes now keep and categorize them; only the Finder tag is skipped. If a run reported documents it "couldn't file", run Organize once more. • Scan for Duplicates works in "leave files in place" mode. It only looked inside your library folder — but that mode leaves documents where they are, so on a library full of duplicates it could find none. It now checks everything it catalogued, and never offers your iCloud copies: those are the same document, synced. • Ask Your Library and AI filing crashed on macOS 15 and earlier. If Organize stopped partway with "Failed: exit 6", or Ask returned a blank answer, this was why — a bundled component was built for macOS 26, which older systems can't load. If either has never worked for you, please try again. • Better categories for libraries that aren't about audio and music. Bibliome was feeding its AI a "best guess" hint drawn from a bundled topic list that leaned heavily toward audio gear, so unrelated documents could be nudged somewhere odd. Measured against real books and papers, filing is more accurate without it, so it's gone. • Asking what a court decided now finds the decision, instead of quoting a dissent that argues the opposite. • Bibliome can no longer hang on a step that stops responding. It gives up and explains itself instead of freezing with no way out but force-quitting. • Spreadsheets are searchable. Excel workbooks were filed but not read, so you could find them by filename only — including numbers now, so an invoice total finds the document it's in. • Bibliome now tells you when documents couldn't be read, asks once per folder rather than per file, and offers to rebuild the index so they become searchable. • Documents whose size couldn't be read — an iCloud placeholder, or one outside a permitted folder — are no longer silently left out of the index. • A crashed step now says so instead of reporting a tidy "exit" code, pinch-to-zoom works on the first try, and the library path no longer shows your home folder. TEMPORARILY REMOVED • Scan with iPhone is hidden in this version. It didn't work — the menu opened without ever offering your phone — and a button that reliably does nothing is worse than no button. It's being rebuilt and will return once it genuinely works. Meanwhile, scan with your iPhone's Notes or Files app and use Import Documents.

NEW • Put Files Back. Organize put your documents somewhere you didn't want? One button returns them to exactly where they were. It never deletes and never overwrites if a name is taken, that file is left alone and listed for you. Every step now keeps a record, so filing, renaming, de-duplicating and the AI passes are all reversible. • Bibliome now shows you the categories before it files anything. You can rename, merge or remove them, accept the new categories the AI proposes, and lock any category as correct so later passes stop re-filing it. Nothing moves until you approve. • You can turn off Finder tagging. In Reference mode Bibliome records a document's category in its own catalog and also as a Finder tag on the file. Settings → Reference mode now lets you switch the tag off: search, Ask and the library browser work exactly the same, and Bibliome leaves your files' tags alone. Worth doing if you use Finder tags yourself, Bibliome's category names can collide with yours. FIXED • Search now covers your whole library. In Reference mode Bibliome only searched documents it had catalogued, so anything added since — or never classified — was missing from search with nothing to say so. On a 5,600-document library that was a third of it. • Scanned documents kept outside your library folder are now read as well, so their text is searchable instead of just their filename. (The first index run after updating takes longer while it catches up.) • Word, RTF, Markdown and plain-text files you've switched on are now included in the search index, not only filed. • Accented and non-English text was being dropped from RTF and plain-text files — "café" was indexed as "caf", and Windows text files could come out unreadable. Rebuild the index to pick those up. • Two ways your files could be lost during an iCloud move are closed: a copy could overwrite a different file of the same name, and a folder containing only hidden files could be deleted along with them. • Approving your categories could delete other settings you had added to your categories file, and accepting a proposed category could file its documents into a folder your categories didn't point at. • Ask formats its answers properly instead of showing raw markdown, and a blank answer now tells you something went wrong rather than presenting an empty reply as the result. • Organize tells you when documents couldn't be filed, instead of reporting a clean finish. Closing the category review explains why nothing ran. Downloading from iCloud says it's waiting on iCloud rather than sitting silently at zero — and that you can quit Bibliome while it finishes. • See a document's full title, however long it is. • Word search is about six times faster, and pinch-to-zoom works in the viewer on a trackpad.

• Fixed a data-loss bug in the opt-in "Embed Text Layer" tool: on scans over 40 pages it kept only the first 40. Bibliome now also detects any file this affected before and offers to restore the full original from its automatic backup. • Reads more than PDFs: Word (.docx), OpenDocument (.odt/.ods), Excel (.xlsx), RTF, Markdown, and plain text — enable each in Settings. • Choose your OCR depth (Standard / Deep / Every page), with the time and disk cost for YOUR library shown before you pick. • Files still waiting in iCloud/Dropbox/Google Drive are counted and shown, with a one-click download — no more silent gaps in your index. • Ask answers cite the section they came from (a court opinion's dissent now reads as a dissent, not the ruling). • Opens noticeably faster on large libraries.

• New: Ask Your Library has a Fast/Detailed toggle right on the page (Apple Intelligence vs. the built-in model) — Fast is now the default, and switching mid-question restarts cleanly instead of getting stuck. • New: a Clear button on the Ask page starts a fresh question in one tap. • New: your very first full Organize now shows a setup screen first — review the settings that matter, then run it now or schedule the whole thing (organizing + building Meaning Index, back to back) for overnight.

• New: a page scrubber in the reader shows exactly where you are ("Page 12 of 340") as you scroll. • New: Text Size setting (Settings → Interface) makes all of Bibliome's text larger — independent of System Settings, since macOS only extends that to Apple's own apps. • Improved: the Tools row now wraps to fit your window instead of hiding tools off-screen when it's narrow. • Improved: tooltips on toolbar buttons now appear almost instantly. • Improved: full support for larger accessibility text sizes throughout the app, plus better contrast on section headers. • Fixed: a rare case where highlight and note colors could shift after saving.
