study cards turn pages of a pdf into flashcards. choose the pages, and the on-device ai writes question and answer cards and fill in the blank cards, each linked to the page it came from. study them on your mac. with icloud sync on, your iphone or ipad studies the same decks, and one schedule follows you across devices. edit or delete any card, add your own from a passage you select, and export a deck to anki, csv or markdown. renaming or moving a document in the library keeps its catalog entry and its ocr text. a citation's page number is no longer cut off when the file name is long. the mcp tab in settings has an add to claude button for claude desktop. save the file, then choose install in claude. other ai apps use one command that points at bibliome. it no longer needs python3 or xcode's command line tools. if an ai app asks for your library while bibliome is closed, bibliome opens quietly in the background. folders you hide from search stay hidden from the ai apps you connect, and a change in settings reaches them within seconds. the mcp tab says when no ai app has asked yet, and updates by itself while it is open. the list of hidden folders shows each folder's whole path, and a folder you remove can be put back with undo. the scan page names your newest scan, automatic ones included.

a new layout, with one toolbar, a sidebar for your folders and categories, and an inspector for what you have selected. edit in the toolbar opens one strip with mark up, redact, personal info, fill form and pages. read aloud has four english voices of its own, adam, heather, michael and sarah. they run on your mac with no network access, and other apps on your mac can use them too. ai apps you connect can reach your library whenever bibliome is running, even with no window open. questions about an exact model or part number now find the document that names it. page theme follows your mac's light or dark look by default, and remembers what you pick. categories count only the documents in the library you have open.

ai apps now search your library first when you ask about your own documents. if the search index build is interrupted, the next build picks up the documents it already finished instead of starting over. the index progress now shows how many documents are being worked on, so a long build no longer looks stuck. building the search index uses less memory, and on a mac with 8 gb of memory it works on fewer documents at once. leftover temporary files from an interrupted index build are cleaned up.

Redaction has a review panel. After Find PII, a side list shows every term it covered and how many times. Open a term to see each place it was found, click one to jump to it, or uncheck the term to remove all its boxes in one step. You can add your own words to the list. On scanned pages, redaction now covers the ink itself, not where the hidden OCR text says the words are, so the bottoms of numbers no longer show below a box. If a stamp or signature hides where the characters end, Bibliome won't save and tells you which page to box by hand. Removing a box takes one click. If other boxes cover the same text, Bibliome asks whether to remove just that one or all of them. Undo brings anything back, and there is a Redo button now. Redaction matches whole words only, so a short word is no longer boxed inside longer ones, and redacting the same text twice no longer stacks a darker box. Bibliome is in the menu bar. A book icon gives you a search field that sends your question to Ask, even with no window open. Turn it off in Settings, and choose whether Bibliome opens at login. Spotlight and Shortcuts have their own switch in Settings. Turn it off and Bibliome stops offering your documents to them and takes back the ones it already offered. Text size in Settings now reaches every part of the app. Eleven places, the Library tree and the redaction panel among them, kept their old size. Moving your library out is safer. A resumed move keeps Finder tags you changed in between, and a half copied file goes to the Trash instead of being deleted. A second move can't start while one is running or while Organize runs, and Organize can't start while a move is running. In Reference mode, Undo removes the tags again, tagging no longer strips the color from your own tags, and entries for documents that are gone no longer stay in your library. Suggest Categories marks which categories come from the starter list, and a switch leaves that list out. Also fixed: the Fill Form row in the Tools list opens the form; clicking it did nothing. Dropping a folder that holds your library says why nothing was added. Import Documents treats an app or an RTFD as one item. Settings no longer shows "not tested" for the Qwen 3.5 model folder. Scheduled organizing and the launch scan check where your library is before they run. Suggest Categories and the MCP tools work with long account names.

A new model runs inside the app. Bibliome now ships with Qwen3.5 4B in place of Llama 3.1 8B. It does the same work: sorting documents by topic, meaning search, and answers that cite the page they came from, all on your Mac, with nothing leaving it. Bibliome takes less room and files faster. The built in model is about 1.3 GB smaller than before, so the app takes less space on your disk. Filing a document is roughly 1.4 times quicker on the same Mac. Filing accuracy is unchanged. The new model was measured against the old one before the switch, on the same 63 hand labelled documents and again on a 500 document sample. Neither model came out ahead. Your first question is faster. The model is now loaded when Bibliome starts, the way it was always meant to be, instead of inside the first answer you ask for. Suggest Categories stops instead of guessing. If it cannot name the groups it found, it leaves your category list alone rather than replacing it with names like Cluster_Error. Select Text says when a page is scanned. Dragging across a scanned page used to do nothing at all, with no highlight and no explanation. There is no text on a scan to select, and Bibliome now tells you so. Bibliome warns you when your library is inside the app itself, wherever you chose to put it, and the button that moves it back out now works. Import Documents takes folders again. On macOS 27 its window let you pick documents but not a folder. Dropping a folder from the Finder onto a library folder now imports the documents inside it. Before, only loose PDFs came in. Ask finds keyword matches in Italian, French, German and Spanish. One accented word in a question used to leave its keyword search with nothing. Bibliome now requires macOS 15.

Folders you can actually manage. In the Library's Folders pane, Cmd-click or Shift-click to select several folders, then right-click for Merge Into, Reassess Category, Rename, New Folder Inside, and Move to Trash. Every one of them can be undone from Edit > Undo, with the operation named. Merging moves every document across, keeps folder structure, and sends emptied folders to the Trash rather than deleting them. Tags merge the same way. In the Tags pane, select two or more tags and choose Merge Into: every document under the other tags gets the surviving tag, nothing moves, and Undo puts each one back. Drop documents in from the Finder. Drag PDFs onto a folder in the Library to copy them in and start a scan right away, so they show up in search without a manual scan. Undo removes the copies; your originals are never touched. Find your library from Spotlight. Every document is listed in Spotlight by title and category, and choosing a hit opens it in Bibliome. Nothing leaves your Mac.

Fill out PDF forms. If a PDF has real form fields — text, checkboxes, choice fields — you can now fill them in and save your answers right in the reader, without printing and rescanning. (Forms with no underlying fields, like a scan or a flattened PDF, aren't supported yet.) Printing is back. File > Print (or Cmd-P) prints the document open in the reader. macOS 27 fixes. This release closes several problems specific to Apple's macOS 27 update: - Compress PDF was silently doing nothing on macOS 27 — it now re-encodes images itself and shrinks files again. - Saving a filled-in form on macOS 27 could lose which checkboxes or radio buttons you'd chosen, or strip a form's underlying structure. Both are now preserved correctly. - Ask could silently fall back to a lower-quality answer, or work from a stale limit on how much of a document it considered. Fixed.

This release keeps your library current while you work, hides what you asked it to hide, and closes several ways a document could quietly fall out of search. KEEP UP WITHOUT A RESCAN • Keep the library indexed while open. A new setting, off by default: while Bibliome is open, documents that land in your library are noticed and indexed about a minute after the additions stop, with a check once an hour. • Scans of a library that stays where it is now index only what is new. The first scan after updating reads your library once more; after that only new documents are read. • Documents are read on every core your Mac has. Indexing had always run on one, whatever the machine. • Identical copies, and documents with nothing to embed, are no longer re-read on every scan. The time estimate now scales to the run in front of it instead of quoting the last big one. • Hide from search. Folders you list in Settings stay indexed and browsable but are left out of search and Ask, unless a Smart Group or a document scope names them. WHAT WAS FALLING OUT OF SEARCH • An unattended scan in Reference mode dropped from search every document the catalog did not list, and the next manual scan put them back. • The pre-OCR originals Bibliome keeps for you turned up in search beside the real document. They are left out now. • Adding an OCR language re-reads your scans, but search kept the old text. It now follows. • Meaning search could report no index on a large library that had one, and offer an hours-long rebuild. It now waits for its engine. • Scanned documents were being read by an English-only recognizer. Text in other languages is now recognized, and you can set the scan languages in Settings. • A password-protected document was indexed as empty and said nothing. It is now reported as locked. • A Smart Group defined by category alone only ever saw PDFs. It now sees every file type you have enabled. MORE WAYS TO READ AND SHARE • Read Aloud in the reader, on this Mac's voices, with a voice picker. Speed and voice change on the word being spoken, not at the next page. • Page themes for reading at night or on paper-white. • Copy or export any document as Markdown. • Summarize a document: a one-page summary from the on-device model, with nothing leaving your Mac. • Export Library List writes a spreadsheet of your whole library, or one Smart Group. • Hookmark can link to the document open in the reader, and a link from another app opens in the window you already have. • Check OCR quality, off by default under Scanned documents, marks pages whose recognized text is garbled. ALSO • Two toolbar menus had no VoiceOver label. They do now. • Read Aloud could crash the app on launch. Fixed. • A document that cannot be opened at all is no longer indexed as an empty page. • Settings, Privacy, Performance log shows how often the app has hung, with Show in Finder and Clear.

This release is about telling you the truth. Bibliome now says what a scan is going to do before you start it, and what it actually did when it finished. Large libraries index far faster, and several failures that used to happen quietly now say so. WHAT A SCAN TELLS YOU • The checklist before a scan only lists steps that will actually run. In the default setting, which leaves your files where they are, it used to promise filename cleanup and duplicate detection that never happened. It now also names what this setting does not do, and where to change it. • A finished scan shows a receipt: how many documents were tagged, moved, copied, skipped, or could not be filed. Before this every outcome showed the same word, so a run that deliberately left your files alone and a run that reorganised thousands of them looked identical. • Help was naming the wrong default. It said files are moved into your library unless you choose otherwise. They are not: the default leaves them exactly where they are. Settings described only the safe option too, so the one setting that rearranges files on disk was the one shown without a word of explanation. Both now say what happens to your files. • Changing "Organize by" used to do nothing to documents you had already scanned, and said nothing about it. It now reports how many are affected, and there is a switch to apply the new setting to them. SPEED AND HONESTY ON LARGE LIBRARIES • Rebuilding the search index is dramatically faster on a large library. The check deciding whether a document had changed was scanning the whole index once per document, so the cost grew with the square of your library size. It is now a direct lookup. • While a scan is finding your documents it shows a running count. On a big library that stage used to sit at zero for minutes, which looked like nothing was happening. • A document Bibliome cannot read no longer reports itself as fine on the next scan, so the prompt asking for access to that folder stays until you grant it. • A search index that finishes but cannot be saved, for example when the disk is full, no longer reports success. Bibliome keeps the previous index and tells you. • Accept on the Suggest Categories screen now starts the pass it promises, and Start from Scratch begins from a genuinely clean slate. ALSO • Much more of the app is translated. The sidebar, the markup tools and the folder pickers were showing English in German, French, Italian, Spanish and Chinese. • Fixed a folder permission that could stop working after a while and needed the folder to be chosen again.

Mark up a document straight from your library, without hunting for the file you are already looking at. Page Tools has moved in alongside the drawing tools, so rotating, reordering and extracting pages all happen in one place. Word search is faster and more complete too. NEW • Markup where your documents are. Select anything in View Library and click Markup in the title bar: the document you are reading becomes the one you are editing. The separate Markup tool is still there for a PDF that is not in your library yet. • Page Tools is now part of Markup Document. A rail of page thumbnails sits beside the page you are marking up. Select pages to rotate, reorder, duplicate or delete them, or add pages from another PDF. Every page change saves automatically and can be undone, which the old separate screen could not do. • Make a new PDF from the pages you pick. Extract selected pages, or split a document into parts, and the results land in your library right beside the original instead of somewhere you have to go and find. • Undo and Redo are now in the Edit menu, where they belong, and they cover page changes as well as marks. FIXED • Word search used to stop at 50 results even when many more documents matched, so real matches were missing from the list. It now finds everything, and offers to show more instead of cutting off. • Typing quickly while searching no longer causes lag to build up, in word search and Meaning search alike. • A "Results shown" limit set in Settings now applies to word search too, not only Meaning search. • An image added to a document sometimes did not appear until you clicked the page, and undoing one could leave it on screen after it was gone from the document. Both are fixed. • Images and signatures are no longer squeezed into a fixed shape when you place them. They keep their proportions. • The Delete key now removes whatever mark you have selected, not just the Delete button. • Meaning search uses a properly calibrated relevance threshold, so its results are more consistently on target. • Smart Groups no longer truncate their base set before applying filters, so a large group's membership is accurate. • The redaction "find every instance" scan used to stop partway through a long document. It now scans every page. • The Text tool now accepts text. Place a text box and it opens ready for you to type, and you can double click any text box later to change what it says. • Resizing a text box scales its text reliably. Shrink one right down, pull it back out, and it returns to the size it started at. • Stamps and signatures draw completely when you place or resize them, instead of looking half painted until you scrolled or zoomed. • The built in stamps are much higher resolution, so enlarging one no longer looks pixelated. • Choosing a page with the page slider no longer fights the scroll wheel. Scroll away from that page and you stay where you scrolled. • The signature sheet no longer clips its Cancel button.

Mark up a PDF: draw, highlight, add text boxes, stamps, images and a signature directly on any document. Plus a Suggest Categories that finishes cleanly on a large library, and never quietly loses a category you made. NEW • Mark Up a PDF (Tools, Home, and the sidebar). Pen, line, arrow, rectangle, oval, and text-box marks, custom stamps, inserted images, and a saved signature you can reuse. Autosaves as you go, including right up to quitting. • Renaming a category in Review Categories now actually renames it. Before, a rename in the sheet didn't survive being accepted, so the old name came back. Now it sticks, and documents already filed under the old name follow it. • A new option on Suggest Categories, "Keep only the categories this run finds", for when you want a clean slate. Every category the run doesn't find again is dropped and its documents are re-filed. It's off by default, and you see the full list before anything is adopted. FIXED • Suggest Categories no longer drops a category you built. A category still holding documents is kept even when a run doesn't rediscover it, so a folder you organized by hand can't disappear because the grouping didn't happen to find it that time. • Suggested categories could come back named Cluster_1745 or Cluster_Error_645, sometimes holding thousands of unrelated documents. Naming now recovers from a busy graphics card instead of giving up, and a group that still can't be named is named from its own documents rather than a number. • One suggested category could swallow most of the library. An oversized group is now split into real topics, and the run tells you when one group has taken over. • Sheet music and other notation-heavy PDFs were being read as though their notation symbols were text. That let them into grouping as a fake topic, and into search results as matches for questions they had nothing to do with. Both are fixed. • Entering a group size that finds nothing no longer dead-ends. The run retries at the largest smaller size that works and tells you what it used. • On a Mac running other AI apps, Suggest Categories could fail partway through for lack of memory. Bibliome now releases its model when it isn't using it, and doesn't load a second copy it doesn't need. • Asking what a court opinion decided could occasionally report the wrong thing as the holding, quoting a document's background section instead of its actual ruling. • Longer answers in Ask no longer cut off mid-sentence.

Ask answers from the right document more often, and Start from Scratch now re-checks every document, as it always said it would. NEW • Ask can be pointed at a single document, and the control that does it is visible instead of hidden. The answer then comes from that document only. • Ask works out on its own when a question already names a document, and answers from it without you setting anything. A question that asks about your library as a whole is left alone. • A follow up question keeps the sources of the answer before it, so narrowing a question no longer loses the documents it was working from. FIXED • Start from Scratch re-checked only the documents that had no category at all. If your documents stay where you put them, which is the default, everything already filed kept the category it had, including the wrong ones. That is the opposite of what the tool is for. It re-checks every document now. If you ran it on 1.3.6 and some categories did not change, running it again on this version will pick them up. • A line break inside a filename sent most citations to the wrong document. • Headers and footers repeated on every page were indexed as though they were part of the text, which crowded out real prose when Ask went looking for an answer. • Meaning search could still return documents the scanner had already been told to leave out.

Adds Start from Scratch, for when the categories Bibliome chose aren't yours, and fixes the button that was supposed to correct them one at a time. NEW • Start from Scratch (Tools). Replaces your category list with a fresh one worked out from your own documents, lets you rename, merge, delete or add to it, and only then re-checks every document against what you approved. Nothing is renamed or deleted, and if your documents stay where they are, nothing is moved. • AI Classify is back in Tools. It carries the two options nothing else offers: recreate the category list before sorting, and re-check documents already filed under your old categories. A normal re-run skips those, which is why re-organizing could look like it did nothing. FIXED * Suggest Categories: fixed a stuck popup. * The category review screen could come up blank and get permanently stuck, showing "already open in another window" everywhere else, even after quitting and restarting. Fixed. Also cleaned up the duplicate Stop button and made it clearer why Run is greyed out while something's already running. * Redact a PDF: two detector fixes plus a new tool. * Fixed: names in a signature line (like "Sincerely, [name]") and company names in a letterhead were slipping through the automatic detector. Both get caught now. * New: Select Text mode. Drag over any text in the PDF, then hit Redact Selection (just that spot) or Redact All Matches (every place that text shows up in the document). • Reassess Category was greyed out and could not be selected, for every library where documents stay in place rather than being moved into folders. That is the default, so for most people the one button named for fixing a wrong category never worked. It reads the category from your catalogue now, and re-tags the document where it sits instead of moving it. • Suggest Categories could not see a library whose documents stay in place. It read a single folder, and there is no single folder holding a library like that, so it proposed categories from a fraction of your documents. It now reads all of them. • A citation with no known page reported "p.2" instead of the first page. • Opening a document could read the same file several times at once. That was slow on large files, and the copies could overwrite each other in a way that left the viewer showing a document you hadn't picked. It reads once now.

Fixes two problems in the Evernote (ENEX) importer: imported notes could sit invisible forever instead of becoming searchable, and an all-images export could leave the Import button greyed out. FIXED • After a successful Evernote import, the button offered to finish the job ran a pass that only reads your library folder. Evernote import writes into a separate inbox, so that pass never saw the new files: the import reported success, but nothing showed up in Recently Added and nothing was searchable, no matter how many times you ran it. The button now runs Organize, which reads the inbox too. • An Evernote export whose only attachments were images showed the Import button disabled, even though the count on the button was real and nonzero (any note with no attachment at all imports regardless of which kinds are ticked). The button now matches the count it displays.

Suggest Categories now actually lets you review and accept what it comes up with after your first run. A second, different cause of the scan progress bar sitting at zero is fixed. And a tooltip on the Suggest Categories screen was showing the wrong text. FIXED • Suggest Categories only ever let you review and adopt its suggestions the very first time you ran it. Every run after that produced a proposed category list with no way to accept it, so documents stayed in Uncategorized even after a successful run. It now offers you that same review step every time. • A second, different cause of the "stuck at zero" scan progress bar. Last update fixed one cause of a scan appearing frozen until you clicked away and back. This fixes a second: heavy background work during a large scan could starve the window's own ability to redraw, even while the scan itself was running normally. • The "Use placeholder names" tooltip on the Suggest Categories screen was showing text meant for the toggle below it.

Undo can now reverse your whole history of runs, not just the last one. The first scan setup screen leads with what happens to your files. And a progress bar that used to sit at zero for a while on a large library is fixed in every place that was still happening. NEW • Undo All Recorded Runs. Undo already reversed your most recent run. Now it can offer to walk all the way back through your history, showing what it can do right now and what is still waiting on an earlier step to be undone first. FIXED • Several progress bars used to sit at zero for a while on a large library, then jump forward all at once once you clicked away and back. That was fixed for scanning last time. It is now fixed everywhere else it was still happening, including search indexing, metadata, and iCloud downloads. • A Help topic about importing from Evernote said running the read only search tool would file your documents into folders. It does not, and never did. Corrected. ALSO • The read only tool that reads scans and builds search is now called "Make Everything Searchable" instead of "Index & Organize", which sounded like it also sorted files into categories. It never did that. • The first scan setup screen now leads with what happens to your files (reference, copy, or move), instead of that choice sitting fourth of five options, and explains what your choice means in plain language as you pick it.

Turning on iCloud sync had quietly stopped Bibliome scanning the folder you chose — that is fixed, highlights can be taken back, and documents stop disappearing from Meaning search. FIXED • Syncing through iCloud no longer stops Bibliome watching your own folder. Turning sync on made the iCloud library the one it read, and silently dropped the folder you had picked — while Settings still listed that folder under "Always scanned". So new documents added there were never noticed. Your folder is always scanned now, sync or no sync, and Settings names the iCloud library instead of leaving it to be discovered. • Undoing a run no longer hides those documents from Meaning search and Ask. Undo put the files back but left the meaning index pointing at where they had been, so those documents dropped out — and no later run brought them back. Word search still found them, which is what made this easy to miss. • Moving a document inside Bibliome no longer costs it its place in the meaning index. Its passages followed the move, but the record saying it had already been read did not, so the next run quietly did that work again. • The MCP server (Settings → MCP) connects from newer versions of Claude Code. It used to answer a client with a protocol version ahead of what that client asked for, which reads as unsupported and gets refused instead of connected. • Putting a document in the right category is easier to find. The button that does it now says “Move to Category” rather than “Move to…”, which described moving a file and never said the word category — and having Bibliome look at a document again and re-file it, which used to be hidden in the right-click menu, is now in that same button. • Suggest Categories works again. Every category was coming back named "Cluster_Error" with an error message where its description should be, and because it reported success anyway, the next filing run put the whole library in Uncategorized. It now names categories properly, and if that step ever does fail it stops and says so instead of replacing your categories with a broken list. • When you have chosen to leave documents where they are, the app calls that button "Tag Documents in Place" — and now everywhere else calls it that too. Several screens still told you to run "Auto-File into Folders", which is a button you only have in the other mode, so it read as missing. • Asking about several documents at once now covers more of them. A question like "which papers deal with this, and what does each one cover" could spend most of its reading on two or three documents and never reach the others, so the answer named only a few. It now takes one passage per document, and the answer covers the set. HIGHLIGHTS • Undo a highlight. Undo and Redo sit next to the Highlight button, so a highlight in the wrong place is no longer permanent. SCANNED DOCUMENTS • A scan keeps the day it was taken, however you rename it. The capture date is recorded on the file itself now, not just in its name — so a scan called "Electric Bill" still knows when it was scanned, and renaming it again keeps the date. ALSO • When you have chosen to leave documents where they are, the Folders pane now says so instead of looking empty. Nothing is ever moved into folders in that mode, so there are none to show — your documents are under Categories. • A scan that finds nothing now says why. "No PDFs found" is not much help when the folder looks full — if what is in it are aliases, or files still in the cloud, Bibliome names that instead of just reporting the count.

Scanning from your iPhone works, Ask stops quoting documents you deleted, and a scan keeps the day it was taken. FIXED • Scan with iPhone. The phone scanned, and Bibliome then said it couldn't read what the iPhone sent. It could have — it asked for the page a fraction of a second after macOS had already put it away. Scans arrive now, and land in a Scanned folder in your library. • A running scan shows its progress instead of sitting at 0. Nothing was ever stuck: the count was being updated faster than the window could redraw, so the screen kept showing the number it last managed to draw. Clicking away and back appeared to start it, and that was the redraw, not the scan. • Ask no longer answers from documents you have deleted. Deleting a document removed it from word search but left it in the meaning index, so Ask kept quoting it and citing it, behind a citation that opened nothing. Deleting now removes a document from both. • Read status survives filing. Marking a book as read and then moving or renaming it made it unread again — the mark was kept against the old name and nothing carried it across. • The first-sync estimate describes the library you actually have. Changing your library folder and opening Sync within a day could size the upload from the folder you left behind. SCANNED DOCUMENTS • A scan keeps the day it was taken. Its filename is the only record of when it was captured, so naming it "Electric Bill" used to throw that away. It becomes "2026-08-16 Electric Bill" instead, which also leaves a folder of scans in date order without being asked. • Scans are named from what is inside them now. Bibliome skipped them before, so a scanned bill stayed named after the moment it was scanned. VIEW LIBRARY • The folder you are inside stays at the top while you scroll it, so you can collapse it without scrolling back up to find it. Nested folders stack the same way. • The arrow keys move between documents again, and Left and Right close and open folders. ALSO • Help says which parts of Bibliome are read-only, and explains what connecting another app over MCP actually lets you do — searching, asking with citations, and using your own documents from an editor.

Move your Evernote notes into Bibliome — plus a batch of fixes to things that quietly weren't working. MOVE FROM EVERNOTE • Point Bibliome at an Evernote .enex export — one file, or the whole folder if you exported each notebook separately — and it shows you what's inside before anything happens: PDFs, images, Word documents, audio, with counts and sizes. You tick what comes in. • Your notebooks survive. Evernote's export doesn't include them, but the filename is the notebook name, so exporting one notebook at a time brings your structure across. Tags, dates and each note's own text come with it. • A note's text is searchable even when the note was really an attachment. A scanned receipt with "boiler service, paid cash" typed above it is findable by those words, not only by whatever the scan says. • Images are off by default, because that's where logos and email signatures live — tick it if your notes are scans. Audio and formats Bibliome can't read are off too, and the screen says plainly that they'd be copied but never searchable, rather than promising to index them. • A damaged or half-finished export is named before you commit, with how many notes can be read from it. Importing the same export twice doesn't duplicate anything. Stop keeps everything already imported. FIXED • Your own Finder comments are searched now. Anything you had typed into Get Info on a document was invisible to search; it is part of the index. • Sort works where you actually stand — in both panes. In a library organised into folders, the top level is all folders, and folders ignored the Sort menu entirely. The Tags pane ignored it too. Both follow the order you pick now. • A running scan is never invisible. "Show details" could sit on a finished run's log while a scan was genuinely under way — nothing moved, so it read as frozen. Live progress shows whenever anything is scanning, with the last run's log kept underneath. • Stop means stop. Stopping a run freed the Mac up, and a background search-deepening pass took that as its cue and started within the minute — so the fans stayed on and it looked as though Stop had done nothing. It stays quiet now, and says why. • A screen could lay itself out past the edge of the window: everything present, nothing visible. • A job that finishes says so. An import that ran quickly left the same button on screen with its summary below the fold, so it read as though nothing had happened.

A safety fix for Review Duplicates, plus everything from 1.2. NEW IN 1.2.1 • Review Duplicates never takes documents OUT of iCloud to keep a copy stored somewhere else. That removes them from your iPhone, iPad and every other Mac, so it is never a local clean-up — Bibliome now stops and explains instead of moving anything. Keeping your iCloud copy and clearing out old local duplicates is unchanged. • Two guarantees are now checked against your disk at the moment you confirm, rather than assumed from how the list was sorted: you can never lose the last copy of a document, and never the copy that lives in your library. • In Reference mode the auto-filer is called "Tag Documents in Place" — which is what it does there: reads each document where it sits and tags it, moving and renaming nothing. Bibliome now requires a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later). It always did in practice — the organizing engine and the on-device AI only run there — but the app would install on an Intel Mac and then fail the moment you tried to use it. This version says so up front instead. NEW • Your very first Organize now shows you the categories before it files anything into them. Bibliome works these out from your own library, and until now the same pass that worked them out also sorted everything against them — so you first saw them afterwards. It now stops and shows you. If you close that review, Bibliome says exactly what it had already moved and offers to put it back; nothing is ever deleted. • Scanned documents keep getting more searchable on their own. Bibliome reads the first pages of a scan right away so it turns up in search quickly, then quietly keeps reading the rest in the background — only while you're not using the app and the Mac is plugged in. A status line at the bottom of the sidebar says what it's doing, and "Finish Now at Full Speed" hands the job to every core if you'd rather not wait. Nothing is read twice, and quitting never loses the work. • Ask now tells you when it's working from a document it hasn't finished reading, instead of presenting a partial read as a complete one. FIXED • Read-only documents are no longer left out of your library. In "leave files in place" mode a read-only file can't be tagged, and that was costing the document its category altogether — so it went missing from your categories, from search and from Ask. Both filing passes now keep and categorize them; only the Finder tag is skipped. If a run reported documents it "couldn't file", run Organize once more. • Scan for Duplicates works in "leave files in place" mode. It only looked inside your library folder — but that mode leaves documents where they are, so on a library full of duplicates it could find none. It now checks everything it catalogued, and never offers your iCloud copies: those are the same document, synced. • Ask Your Library and AI filing crashed on macOS 15 and earlier. If Organize stopped partway with "Failed: exit 6", or Ask returned a blank answer, this was why — a bundled component was built for macOS 26, which older systems can't load. If either has never worked for you, please try again. • Better categories for libraries that aren't about audio and music. Bibliome was feeding its AI a "best guess" hint drawn from a bundled topic list that leaned heavily toward audio gear, so unrelated documents could be nudged somewhere odd. Measured against real books and papers, filing is more accurate without it, so it's gone. • Asking what a court decided now finds the decision, instead of quoting a dissent that argues the opposite. • Bibliome can no longer hang on a step that stops responding. It gives up and explains itself instead of freezing with no way out but force-quitting. • Spreadsheets are searchable. Excel workbooks were filed but not read, so you could find them by filename only — including numbers now, so an invoice total finds the document it's in. • Bibliome now tells you when documents couldn't be read, asks once per folder rather than per file, and offers to rebuild the index so they become searchable. • Documents whose size couldn't be read — an iCloud placeholder, or one outside a permitted folder — are no longer silently left out of the index. • A crashed step now says so instead of reporting a tidy "exit" code, pinch-to-zoom works on the first try, and the library path no longer shows your home folder. TEMPORARILY REMOVED • Scan with iPhone is hidden in this version. It didn't work — the menu opened without ever offering your phone — and a button that reliably does nothing is worse than no button. It's being rebuilt and will return once it genuinely works. Meanwhile, scan with your iPhone's Notes or Files app and use Import Documents.

NEW • Put Files Back. Organize put your documents somewhere you didn't want? One button returns them to exactly where they were. It never deletes and never overwrites if a name is taken, that file is left alone and listed for you. Every step now keeps a record, so filing, renaming, de-duplicating and the AI passes are all reversible. • Bibliome now shows you the categories before it files anything. You can rename, merge or remove them, accept the new categories the AI proposes, and lock any category as correct so later passes stop re-filing it. Nothing moves until you approve. • You can turn off Finder tagging. In Reference mode Bibliome records a document's category in its own catalog and also as a Finder tag on the file. Settings → Reference mode now lets you switch the tag off: search, Ask and the library browser work exactly the same, and Bibliome leaves your files' tags alone. Worth doing if you use Finder tags yourself, Bibliome's category names can collide with yours. FIXED • Search now covers your whole library. In Reference mode Bibliome only searched documents it had catalogued, so anything added since — or never classified — was missing from search with nothing to say so. On a 5,600-document library that was a third of it. • Scanned documents kept outside your library folder are now read as well, so their text is searchable instead of just their filename. (The first index run after updating takes longer while it catches up.) • Word, RTF, Markdown and plain-text files you've switched on are now included in the search index, not only filed. • Accented and non-English text was being dropped from RTF and plain-text files — "café" was indexed as "caf", and Windows text files could come out unreadable. Rebuild the index to pick those up. • Two ways your files could be lost during an iCloud move are closed: a copy could overwrite a different file of the same name, and a folder containing only hidden files could be deleted along with them. • Approving your categories could delete other settings you had added to your categories file, and accepting a proposed category could file its documents into a folder your categories didn't point at. • Ask formats its answers properly instead of showing raw markdown, and a blank answer now tells you something went wrong rather than presenting an empty reply as the result. • Organize tells you when documents couldn't be filed, instead of reporting a clean finish. Closing the category review explains why nothing ran. Downloading from iCloud says it's waiting on iCloud rather than sitting silently at zero — and that you can quit Bibliome while it finishes. • See a document's full title, however long it is. • Word search is about six times faster, and pinch-to-zoom works in the viewer on a trackpad.

• Fixed a data-loss bug in the opt-in "Embed Text Layer" tool: on scans over 40 pages it kept only the first 40. Bibliome now also detects any file this affected before and offers to restore the full original from its automatic backup. • Reads more than PDFs: Word (.docx), OpenDocument (.odt/.ods), Excel (.xlsx), RTF, Markdown, and plain text — enable each in Settings. • Choose your OCR depth (Standard / Deep / Every page), with the time and disk cost for YOUR library shown before you pick. • Files still waiting in iCloud/Dropbox/Google Drive are counted and shown, with a one-click download — no more silent gaps in your index. • Ask answers cite the section they came from (a court opinion's dissent now reads as a dissent, not the ruling). • Opens noticeably faster on large libraries.

• New: Ask Your Library has a Fast/Detailed toggle right on the page (Apple Intelligence vs. the built-in model) — Fast is now the default, and switching mid-question restarts cleanly instead of getting stuck. • New: a Clear button on the Ask page starts a fresh question in one tap. • New: your very first full Organize now shows a setup screen first — review the settings that matter, then run it now or schedule the whole thing (organizing + building Meaning Index, back to back) for overnight.
