Photo descriptions can now use text you wrote with the same captured moment as a clue when identifying what is visible. A note on a specific photo takes priority, and descriptions should not add things the photo does not show. Use Refresh Photo Descriptions on a day to update existing captions after editing the moment's text.

Life Capture Studio 1.5 adds optional encrypted receiving from paired iPhones when you are away from home. Enable Receive away from home in Settings → iPhone, then attach the connection in Pocket. Studio supports multiple paired iPhones with separate connection controls. Keep Studio open and your Mac awake, with Pocket open while sending. This update also improves recovery when removing an old remote connection and provides clearer Retry messages when cleanup needs attention. Remote receiving remains off until you explicitly enable it.

Publishing settings, per archive. • Each archive now has its own publish folder and web host. Find them in Settings › Publishing, where you can change the folder whenever you like. • The first time an archive publishes, Studio offers your previous publish folder — you choose, and nothing moves on its own. A folder already used by another archive is never offered again. • Publishing from one archive never touches another archive's folder or its landing page. • The web host you set is the one your published pages and links use. As always, your archive stays plain files on your Mac.

Optional Cloud photo descriptions are here. • On supported Macs running macOS 27, use Apple Private Cloud Compute to describe still photos without downloading a local image model. • Cloud photo descriptions are off by default, with their own privacy explanation and consent separate from Cloud narrator. • Descriptions reflect saved photo edits. If cloud processing cannot complete, Apple Vision provides the local result. Find Cloud photo descriptions in Settings → Enrichment. To update an existing day, open Days, select the day, and choose More → Refresh Photo Descriptions.

Cloud narrator is here. • On compatible Macs running macOS 27, choose Apple’s Private Cloud Compute model to help write your journal. • Cloud narrator is off by default. Settings explains what text is sent before you turn it on; photos, audio, video, and your archive are never sent. • If Cloud narrator is unavailable, writing falls back to this Mac and tells you what happened. Find Cloud narrator in Settings → Enrichment → Journal writing.

This release makes Studio feel fast everywhere — and gives your words better tools. Saving a note now returns instantly, even on a large archive — the day's processing continues quietly in the background. Opening a day is immediate, and browsing Places, Tags, and Posts is smooth. Write with formatting: bold and italics in your notes, styled as you type, with the editorial review available while you write — not just after. Add your words to any moment — any photo can now carry your narrative. Places, redesigned: the map sits up top, with your places gathered by locality beneath it, each with a cover photo. Day stories read cleaner — a note you wrote is told once, in your words. Voice styling now applies on more of your days. Your photo descriptions are protected: adding a note can never cost you a caption, and Refresh Photo Descriptions now retries failed attempts and reports honestly. Imports show their progress while photos are being described.

Write it down, even without a picture. New: Notes. Some days don't leave photos — you paid the bills, a friend stopped by. Now you can write it straight into your journal: choose Write a Note from the File menu (⇧⌘N) or any day's page, type what happened, and pick the day it belongs to — today or any day past. The day appears in your journal with your words at its heart. Edit your notes. A pencil sits right under every note's text, the same as the day's story. Fix a typo, add a thought — the moment and the day's story update, and edited notes are marked "Edited by you." Your original words are always preserved in your archive, untouched. Details that matter: the note sheet tells you in plain words which day you're adding to; notes use the current time today and noon for past days unless you choose a time; and the journal records life, not plans — future dates aren't selectable. As always: everything stays on your Mac. No account, no cloud, no tracking.

Start your journal with your photos. A new welcome walks you straight to the payoff: choose photos you already have — even decades old — and Studio organizes them into days and writes your first journal, all on your Mac. • Speak, and your journal listens. Record a voice note about any photo: the caption absorbs what you said, and the day's story is told once, in clean prose — your words, without the "um"s. • Richer photo descriptions. Optionally download an on-device model (Apple Silicon, 16 GB+) that writes full sentences about what's actually in your pictures. Your photos never leave your Mac. • Places from your pocket. Stops recorded by Life Capture Pocket's Road Mode arrive as real Moments, on the right days, marked "Remembered by iPhone." Day pages now name their places; months summarize where you went. • Editions. View any tag's moments as a beautifully laid-out edition, and export any month as a PDF. • One Enrichment pane. Place names, weather, calendar, and photo understanding — each explained plainly, each yours to switch. • A Voice Profile that explains itself, and dozens of refinements to importing, drag and drop, and reading.
