The sky is striped into wind bands, each blowing its own way. Release to rise and drift; hold to pull the line taut and dive. Climb past crows, squalls and dead kites.
The dawn sky over the kite festival isn't one wind — it's a stack of them.
Loftline paints every stripe of sky as its own wind band, chevrons showing which way it blows and how hard. Let go and your paper kite rises, carried sideways by whatever band it's riding. Touch and hold and the line pulls taut: the kite stops drifting, eases back toward your hands, and dips — your only tool for slipping under a crow or waiting out a squall.
Every ribbon you catch is currency. Back on the ground, the Kite Workshop turns them into a better kite: lighter spars that climb faster, waxed line that bites harder when you brace, a charm tail that draws ribbons in, patch kits that re-knot the line mid-air instead of snapping, and the windreader — a forecast of the band overhead before you enter it.
Then choose how she's trimmed. Only one rig is strung at a time, and each trades one strength for another: Racer's Trim climbs the gates but tucks the tail, Gleaner's Trim harvests ribbons but climbs slow, Stormwright's Trim rides out squalls. The right answer changes with the sky you're about to fly.
• One finger, two states: release to rise and drift, hold to brace and dive
• Every band is different — gentle breezes near the field, howling crosswinds and dark squall bands up high
• Crows patrol the bands, dead kites hang snagged where their flyers lost them, and lightning crackles in the squalls
• The Kite Workshop: 21 upgrade levels across five tracks, all bought with ribbons you caught
• Trim rigs — mutually exclusive builds you swap between flights, each a real tradeoff
• The Far Fields: ribbons also buy passage to three distant skies — the Dusk Shoals' rising thermal columns, Lantern Night's drifting paper lanterns, the Roaring Shelf's brutal squalls — each with its own light, five named pennants and a field best
• The Festival Gates: 13 named altitude arches strung up the sky, each with a ribbon purse and a line of the festival's story — the last sits 5,200m up
• The Festival Trials: ten authored skies flown on a standardized kite for Bronze, Silver and Gold altitude medals, unlocking in order and paying a one-time ribbon purse per medal
• Nine sail designs to unlock and fly, earned by altitude records, ribbons and streaks
• The Flight Log: nine festival ranks earned with lifetime altitude, plus trim bests, golden gusts caught and a tally of what ends your flights
• The Daily Gust: one fixed sky per day, the same for every flyer, with double ribbons — and a streak that forgives a rest day
• Day's Errands: three fresh festival tasks every dawn, each paying ribbons the moment it's done
• Patch kits save your flight mid-air; the windreader shows the wind before it hits
• Optional Extras: two purely cosmetic sail packs — every upgrade, rig, rank, field and sail is won by flying
• Fully offline, nothing collected
Read the stripes. Work the line. Trim the rig. See how far the sky goes.

v1.3 — THE FAR FIELDS
The sky beyond the festival opens. Spend ribbons to travel to three distant skies, each with its own light and its own trouble:
• The Dusk Shoals — ember light over rising thermal columns that lift your kite far faster
• Lantern Night — an indigo dark full of drifting paper lanterns
• The Roaring Shelf — storm greys and brutal squalls, breaking into gold up high
Each field keeps its own best altitude and flies five named pennants — one-time ribbon purses strung up its sky. The Dawn Field, the Trials and the Daily Gust fly exactly as they always have.
