“One more layer of light, even on the last frame.” —the darkroom owner Fixed being unable to use multiple exposure on the last frame. After a roll is full, you can keep layering exposures on its final frame or reopen the camera from roll details. The frame count stays the same. Also fixed an old developed image being reused after a failed development and a new exposure, and improved full-roll shutter and multiple-exposure lever handling.

“A little brighter, a little darker. Your call now.” —the darkroom owner Exposure compensation is now in the camera. Use −/+ to adjust brightness before a shot. Values appear as fractions, and your setting is remembered. A gold frame around the number shows when exposure compensation is in use. Bring it back to 0 for the camera’s usual exposure. Take a look before you shoot, and keep the light the way you like it.

“ULTRAMAX 400 goes on the free shelf. The camera has had a little care, too.” —the darkroom owner Kodak ULTRAMAX 400 joins the free films: vivid reds and blues, natural skin tones and fine grain. One more roll to choose for an ordinary day out. Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets give you a quicker way to open the Tenra camera. We also fixed the endless spinner after opening from a widget and improved capture and developing stability.

“Take a closer look before loading a roll.” —the darkroom owner Film thumbnails are larger, and you can now search or filter the film list by color and black-and-white. The sample book has a fourth photo—a green botanical scene—so it’s easier to compare each film’s look. Date-back digits are smaller, too. If developing stops because your device is low on storage, Tenra now explains what to do instead of showing a technical error. Your original photos remain intact. You can also retry temporary loading failures in samples, the Library and the Darkroom.

"The two new rolls go on the free shelf." —the darkroom owner Meet Kentmere PAN 400, with gentle greys and open shadows, and Agfa Vista 400, with vivid reds, cool blue-grey tones and delicate grain. Both are free. The camera now has a date back. Switch it on to print the capture date in orange LCD-style digits when the photo is developed. It uses yyyy-MM-dd, rotates for portrait shots and stays clear of sprocket holes. Your switch setting is remembered; imported photos are not stamped.

"A good street scene won’t wait. Keep the shutter close at hand." —the darkroom owner Volume buttons now work as the shutter in the camera. Press either button and release to take one shot; holding it won’t shoot a burst. Flip the no-advance lever to use them for multiple exposures too. Outside the camera, the buttons control volume as usual. Volume-button capture requires iOS 17.2 or later.

"Same roll, different bath, different temper." —the darkroom owner Ektachrome E100 is here: clear color and natural skin tones with standard development, or purple shadows and teal skies with cross-processing. Skin tones shift too. Choose when sending the roll to develop; once started, the choice is locked. E100 development requires Pro. The film library now searches roll titles, film names and cross-process labels. Less rummaging through old rolls.

"The shutter should keep pace with your hand, and a whole roll's business shouldn't be handled piecemeal." —the darkroom owner This update fixes the shutter's feel: the curtain and the buzz used to wait for the photo to finish processing before catching up, and now both land the instant your finger presses, so shooting feels a lot crisper. The whole-roll page in the film library also gained share and save-to-album buttons of its own, so you handle the whole roll right there instead of hunting through single frames — and the single-frame actions that used to cause confusion on that page are gone. Sorry it took you a while to figure out before.

"Fixed the machine, then the door handle broke." — The Lab Owner Fixed a crash when importing photos from your library. It happened when a photo lived in iCloud and couldn't be fetched right then — the shop wasn't catching that case. Now you get a "couldn't read that, please try again" instead of the door slamming shut. Sorry for the trouble.

"Grain should be grains, not clumps." — The Lab Owner The lab owner went back to the machine and remixed the chemistry: on high-resolution photos, zooming in showed the grain running together into veins rather than the discrete specks film actually has. It's finer now, each grain its own — and the strength is unchanged. Also fixed two crashes: importing when only the last frame was free, and sending a roll off from the shelf. Thanks to everyone who wrote in.

"If the sign says 2x, you don't sneak them a 5x." — The Lab Owner Fixed the very shaky 2x on some iPhones. The embarrassing truth: on phones with a telephoto lens, the app jumped straight to that lens — and on recent models that's a 5x. Five times the zoom, five times the hand shake. 2x is now an honest 2x. The developing machine got an overhaul too: the iOS compression engine had never actually been switched on, quietly running on a backup — big files, slow developing. Now that it's plugged in, developing is faster, files are less than half the size, and quality doesn't lose a single pixel. Photos saved to your album match exactly what you saw in the shop. Two small things while we were at it: the 1x/2x indicator no longer gets out of sync after switching apps, and the film border watermark switch remembers your choice. Thanks for the reports.

"Carry thirty-six frames at once, and you're bound to drop them." — The Boss Fixed a crash when viewing a developed roll or saving a whole roll. Truth be told, the app was being greedy — holding the entire roll in memory at once until the system showed it the door. It now picks up one frame at a time, and your saved photos keep every single pixel. Edge prints got some polish too: Fuji marks now wear a 5×7 dot-matrix typeface, and Kodak generation codes are corrected against real film. Thanks to everyone who reported it. Questions? Something new arrived at the shop — sprocket edges. Pick it when you load a roll, and every frame develops with real 135 perforations, edge numbers and emulsion batch codes, like it was cut straight off a full roll. Free for everyone. I also owe you an apology. The camera's resolution setting was never dialled in properly, so your photos came out a good deal smaller than they should have been — noticeably so on iPhone. It now captures at the highest quality your device can manage, and new rolls will look dramatically sharper. The export path is fixed too: what you see in the darkroom is exactly what lands in your album. Rolls you've already developed can't be recovered, and I'm sorry about that. Thanks to the customer who wrote in — without you I'd have taken far longer to notice.

"The camera remembers how you held it." —the darkroom owner This update fixes multiple exposure when you shoot landscape. The ghost frame no longer loses its left and right edges — you see the whole thing in the viewfinder — and the new exposure now lands exactly where you lined it up. Every combination of portrait and landscape holds has been re-checked.

"One frame holds two moments." —the darkroom owner This update opens up multiple exposure: flip the MX lever below the viewfinder and the next shutter stacks onto the previous shot instead of advancing the film, as many times as you like, and it never uses up frames. Whole-roll export now hands you every photo on the roll, not just a contact sheet, filed under Tenra by roll name, and it runs in the background with a progress count.

"Change your lens, and the world looks a little different." —the darkroom owner This update adds 1×/2× lens switching — one tap below the viewfinder. Phones with a telephoto lens go fully optical; the rest use digital zoom. A handy second focal length for the 50mm crowd.

"If you step out to take a call, the camera should still be ready when you're back." —The Lab Owner Fixed: the viewfinder went dark after switching to another app and back while shooting. Thanks to the kind customer who reported it in a review — five stars and a bug report, too generous.

"Quit a roll halfway? Eject it. Couldn't before. Can now." New shelf in the shop: ejected rolls rest there, six at most, every frame kept. Reload to keep shooting, or bring one in to develop. Unshot rolls just go back — no fuss. Same stock waiting on the shelf? I'll ask before you load a fresh one. And Pro films are labeled now: shoot free, pay only to develop. No surprises.

Two new films in stock. Double-X — the black-and-white they shoot movies on, with silver blacks no digital can fake. And Fujicolor 業務用100: plain name; those who know, know. The sample book is on the counter now. Flip it before you load, and stop asking me how each one looks. Re-mixed the Ektar bath — colors run truer. As for leader burns, my hands vary lately: sometimes a nibble, sometimes the whole first frame. That's film. New sign at the door, too.

Been fixing things around the shop. All of it, in one go. One — a few rolls came back with the colors wrong: greens gone red, cyan blotches on faces. Three days of digging: one developer bath was mixed off, and it only bit film brought in from outside. The bath's been replaced. Rolls still hanging will develop fine; bring back the ruined ones, I'll redo them on the house. Two — when the storeroom moved, some rolls still had labels pointing at the old shelves. People came to collect and left empty-handed. Every label's been rewritten. However many times this place moves, your film will be found. Three — the sign at the counter pointed Apple customers to Google's desk. New sign. Four — tuned up the camera while I was at it: the curtain drops where you can see it now, and the frame counter on top is polished. Whether it fired, which frame you're on — look for yourself, stop asking me. To the ones who reported things: thanks. This shop stays open because you watch it too.
