Faster photos and videos Photos and videos now send much faster and use far less of your data. Voice notes you can hear first Record, listen back, then send or throw it away. Nothing leaves until you say so. Links you can tap Web links, phone numbers and email addresses in a message now open with one tap. Clearer read receipts One tick means sent, two means delivered, and you can now see at a glance when a message has been read. You can also turn read receipts off in Settings. Your dictionary, one tap away Once you have started a language together, your dictionary now sits right beside it. Plus a smarter file view, a tidier comment screen, and a fix for videos that could not be deleted.

The games section is now a room you walk into rather than a list you scroll. Three machines, each one playing itself while you decide, and the people waiting on your move are right there on the shelf with their faces and a light showing whose turn it is. Also in this version: Open a PDF straight in the app. No more picking which app should handle it, and documents keep the layout they were written with. Pinch a photo to zoom in, drag to move around it, and swipe down to put it away. Fixed a phone still ringing for an account it had been signed out of. Open the app once and it stops. Answering a call now stops the ringing properly. The word game no longer pauses in the middle of your move. Your list of people to play now scrolls all the way down. App lock says what your phone actually has instead of guessing. Clearing your call history now sticks, on every device.

Video posts play the moment you open them. Tap to pause, tap again to carry on, and what you have written stays readable while it runs. Captions now sit under your photographs instead of across them. Invite someone with a QR code, or give yourself a fresh code whenever you like. Adding someone is simpler, with search right at the top. Tap the picture on a request to see who it is before you decide. People without a photo get a colour of their own, so a list of names is easier to read at a glance. You can choose whether people are able to find you by your email address. It is in Settings, under Privacy. Archived chats now show you when something new has arrived. Calling is steadier. No more second call screen appearing, and the ringing stops when you pick up. Fixed a crash on the home screen, and several screens that would not scroll all the way down.

Games, rebuilt. A new games room, with your live games front and centre. Only one game per person now, so you can never end up playing someone twice. Send a friend the exact course you just ran and see who wins. Quieter notifications: practice games no longer buzz your phone. Plus a fix for the keyboard covering the new-language screen.

Chat is smoother and steadier, especially in long conversations and when you switch between English and your invented language. You can now give your friends the names you actually call them. Those names are private to you, and they appear everywhere, including when they call you. And Ours: a private space inside every conversation, just for the two of you. Keep photos, notes and the words you invented together, written on real paper. Nothing here expires. You can also seal something so it stays shut until a date you choose, and neither of you can open it early.

Getting people in Adding someone is now one screen with three clear ways in: send an invite, check your contacts, or enter a code. An invite you send survives a fresh install, so the person you invited arrives connected instead of on an empty app. Chats Open a chat and you land on the newest message. Load earlier messages to read back through long conversations, and a button brings you back down. Tap a quoted reply to jump to the message it quotes. Fixed Recording a voice note no longer makes later videos and voice notes play quietly. Unread badges now clear properly in busy chats. A conversation no longer looks empty when you are simply offline. Also GIFs are one tap from the message box. A cleaner look for adding your phone number.
