On iPad, the full-screen reading button now sits on its own at the left of the passage rather than beside the settings gear. And in portrait, leaving full screen returns to the view you were in — the weeks list no longer slides in over the day.

In The Message, a reading given as two ranges of verses — like this September’s Psalm 103 — showed part of the passage twice. It now reads straight through.

A whole new iPad app. The iPad now works the way Mail does: three columns — the weeks list, the day's readings, and the passage itself — side by side, with a pick in one column updating the next in place. Search the weeks by name or date ("Christmas", "Proper 17", "Sep 6"), tuck the sidebar behind the system button, or tap the full-screen button to read with no columns at all. Held in portrait, where three columns will not fit, the app opens with the day and the passage side by side and the weeks list a button away. A cleaner day view everywhere. The day's readings got a fresh card design on every device — season, title, readings, Listen to all, and the week's artwork in one column. And wherever a side list shows — on a phone turned sideways — a new header button slides it away and back, and remembers your choice. Also fixed: Christmas Eve and Christmas Day now show their titles in your own language; a week's artwork opens full screen at the right size instead of shrunk into the middle; and the side lists no longer scroll up behind the navigation bar in landscape.

Listen to the day's readings. The Listen button now plays the ESV's own recorded reading — and every other translation is read aloud in a matching voice, non-English included. Playback keeps going while you browse the app (a mini player follows you), keeps playing when the screen locks, and the ESV recording gets Lock Screen controls. Tap the mini player for a full player — scrubber, verse-by-verse skips for spoken passages, speed, and the day's queue — or start "Listen to all" on the Today screen to hear the whole day in order. Recorded passages are saved for offline listening. Off by default — turn it on under Settings → Read aloud. Also in this update: • See the Hebrew and Greek behind the words. Press and hold any verse for its original-language words, each beside its English rendering, with pronunciation and meaning — in the NET, KJV, and ASV, press and hold a single word directly. Lookups stay on your device and work offline. • Share a favorite verse. A new Share button in the verse comparison turns the verse into a picture for social media or a group chat — square, portrait, or landscape, light or dark, in the day's season color. • Four more translations: the Geneva Bible (1599), the Revised Version (1885), the NLT Catholic Edition, and the CEV with the Deuterocanon — bringing the deuterocanonical readings to nine translations, modern ones now included. • Open passages in Accordance: with the Accordance app installed, it appears among the "Open passages in" choices. • A calmer reading view: readings and passages sit on full-width bands, and dark mode puts brighter text on deeper surfaces — easier on the eyes. The season emblem now sits beside the Today title, matching the app's accent. • Fixed: the app moves to the new day when you return after midnight; on iPad, tapping the Settings gear no longer scrolls the reading to the top; the artwork widget's info view stays readable with the Light theme pinned; the translation menu no longer opens beneath the hint text.

Widgets for your home screen. Choose from the week’s artwork, where you are in the church year, a passage from the day, or the full list of readings. They keep themselves up to date each day without the app being opened and follow your translation and theme settings. Lock Screen widget: the liturgical day above your clock — as a single line, a small card, or a circle beside the time. Also in this update: • The Weekly Artwork widget shows the week’s painting with nothing over it but a small info button. Tap it and the widget flips in place to the season, the week, the passage the artwork depicts, and the credit — and back. On iPad, the artwork and Scripture widgets also come in an extra-large size. • The Day & Season widget wears the app icon’s ring of liturgical seasons, with the current season highlighted. • Jump to any passage. Previous, Next and the counter are now one control in the reading view — tap the counter to pick any of the day’s passages from a menu. It shrinks out of the way while you read and returns when you scroll back up. • Comparing a verse now opens instantly and works offline. • A new App icon setting, in Settings → Display, keeps the dark icon year-round whatever your light or dark mode. • Artwork credits listing several artists are now shown as readable names rather than a wall of dates.

Settings now uses your device's own controls. Every on/off setting is a standard switch — before, a setting that was turned off showed nothing at all, so there was no sign it was something you could turn on. Also in this update: • On iPhone and iPad, the option rows — font, size, line spacing, theme and the rest — now use the system's segmented control, tinted with the color of the church season. They follow your text size and motion accessibility settings automatically. • Read aloud now points you to where the speaking voice is chosen, including where to download higher-quality voices for free.

Now in your language: the whole app speaks Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese — every screen and setting, the church calendar with its seasons and feast names, and Bible references. It follows your device language automatically, and the app carries a Bible in each of these languages too. Also in this update: • Listen to the reading — the app can read the passage aloud with your device's text-to-speech. Turn it on under Settings → Read aloud. • More comfortable reading — two larger text sizes (XL and XXL), line spacing, bold text, and the dyslexia-friendly OpenDyslexic font. • True-black dark theme — a higher-contrast look that's also easier on OLED screens. • A tidier Settings screen — reading-text options (with a live preview) and display options each have their own page, with your current choices summarized at a glance. • Artwork, full screen — tap the week's artwork for a zoomable full-screen view. This update also brings the artwork back after Vanderbilt redesigned their site. • Easier to see and tap — season abbreviations on calendar days, larger touch targets, and a native translation-picker menu.
