Materializr
Open-source 3D CAD for makers.
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
iPad
Materializr is real parametric solid modeling on your iPad.
It is built on the same industrial B-rep geometry kernel used by
professional CAD packages, wrapped in a touch-first
interface designed for makers.
Sketch on any face or plane, pull your sketch into a solid, and keep
editing any step of the history later — even after closing the project.
When your part is done, export an STL and print it.
Materializr is free and open source. There are no accounts, no
subscriptions, no ads, no locked features, and your designs never leave
your iPad. If it earns a place in your workflow, an optional Supporter
tip helps keep development moving.
Materializr is developed in the open under the GPLv3. The complete
source code, documentation, and community are at

Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Features:
File exchange, wholesale — BREP import/export, OBJ + 3MF export, sketch → DXF export, and DXF import that stamps laser/CNC profiles straight into a sketch. IGES now applies the Y-up/Z-up conversion. Project files prefer the shorter .mzr extension (.materializr still opens).
Reference images — drop a picture into the viewport and model against it.
New modeling ops — Guided Loft (loft steered by guide curves), N-section loft, Boundary Fill, and Separate (split a body's disconnected solids into individual bodies).
Chamfer/fillet, rebuilt — true corner miters and hips, and a cut-based fallback that rescues blends OpenCASCADE's native builder refuses (holes/pockets crossing the edge). Face-lineage topological naming keeps bevel identity stable through booleans, reloads and history edits.
History that follows — extrude remembers its regions, the cascade disables steps that can't follow instead of reverting everything, and hovering a history step highlights its geometry.
Desktop QoL — Linux HiDPI interface scale, click-drag line tool, movable operation panels, Push/Pull gated off curved faces
Fixes:
macOS startup crash on macOS 26.x — the bundled SDL2 is now source-built against a current SDK with a macOS 14.0 floor
Audit hardening — op results validity-gated before commit, SVG import budgets, settings clamping + .cfg injection fix, transactional project load
Shell honestly refuses fillet-ringed faces it can't hollow; stepped-hole sketches no longer extrude a floating plug
Recovery autosave debounces on quiescence; two-finger touch gestures no longer click through (im-touch)
