more • More accurate syntax highlighting: Improve highlighting for Bash commands, options, variables, and URLs. Expand language alias recognition for JavaScript, TypeScript, PowerShell, batch scripts, and more.
• Smoother sidebar transitions: Animate sidebar hiding and restoration when resizing between wide and narrow layouts. Reduce width jumps and overflow when resizing reverses mid-transition, while preserving the collapsed state.
• Better immersive reading spacing: Keep comfortable top spacing above article content when the desktop toolbar is hidden.
1.9.2 17h ago
• New EchoPie icons: Introduce a unified custom “Echo” icon set that adapts to light, dark, and custom accent themes.
• Colored bookmark tags: Add multiple tags to articles, reuse existing tags, and customize their colors. Filter bookmarks by tag alongside search, with tags and colors synced across devices.
• Mobile feed management: Swipe left on a feed to edit or delete it, with undo support. Feed addresses without a protocol automatically default to HTTPS.
• More reliable translation and summaries: Translate only the sentences that need translation in mixed-language content while preserving their order. Improve cancellation, timeouts, and cache handling. Summary caches now account for title changes.
• Cloud data controls: Delete cloud sync data while keeping local feeds and articles. Automatic sync stops for that service; manual sync can recreate the cloud data.
• Reading and performance improvements: Reduce repeated filtering and UI work. Refine summary, attachment, annotation, and status layouts for narrow screens and larger text. Keep outlines, footnotes, and image previews up to date after content refreshes.
1.9.1 1d ago
• Full-text fetching and saving: Automatically expand summary-only articles, with manual fetching, local saving, retries, and an open-original option. Better preserve full text during refresh and sync.
• More accurate content extraction: Improve handling of complex blogs, split article sections, and malformed HTML. Reduce missing text and unrelated content, better identify headline-only summaries, academic abstracts, and aggregator entries, and retain discussion links.
• Math and code reading: Improve inline and multiline equation detection and layout, fix some formula-related crashes, and reduce currency being mistaken for math. Add BibTeX highlighting and automatic detection.
• Images and audio: Add SVG image support and improve lazy-loaded image extraction, narrow-screen scaling, and loading indicators. Show audio loading errors with a retry option.
• Layout and navigation: Add left, justified, and right text alignment. Better preserve bold formatting, footnote links, and punctuation spacing. Restore the article list when switching feeds, groups, or filters, and refine reading progress, swipe navigation, and menu interactions.
• Stability and AI fixes: Retry failed library loading. Fix conflicts between refresh and feed edits or deletion, and prevent outdated translation or summary caches from replacing newer content. Improve Anthropic response parsing, local model downloads, and runtime compatibility.
1.9.0 3d ago
• Fixed duplicated, malformed, or incorrectly rendered content in feeds that use nested HTML tables, including JavaScript Weekly.
• Fixed an issue on macOS where reopening the app from the Dock could move the main window to the display under the pointer.
• Fixed an issue on macOS where mouse-wheel scrolling could unexpectedly collapse the compact reader.
• Refined the layout and information hierarchy of Sync settings.
1.8.2 Sep 7
• Adds a separate always-on-top option for the Compact Reader bubble, allowing it to remain above other windows when collapsed without affecting the expanded reader.
• Adds a reading progress ring to the floating bubble, styled with the current accent color and light or dark appearance.
• Improves trackpad scrolling on Mac, preventing blank space from appearing beneath the reader toolbar during overscroll.
• Refines previous and next article transitions with smoother fades, reducing visual jumps during continuous reading.
• Repositions and simplifies the article progress indicator for cleaner alignment with the top toolbar.
• Unifies corner radii, controls, and progress styling across inline media players and the sidebar Now Playing card.
• Simplifies first-run onboarding by replacing starter-feed recommendations with options to add a feed, import OPML, or sync existing subscriptions.
1.8.1 Sep 1
• Adds four PRO paper-reading styles: Classic Paper, Rice Paper, Newsprint, and Parchment, with light and dark mode support.
• Adds an unread-count badge to the Dock icon, with an option to disable it in Settings.
• Adds a Keyboard Shortcut Help panel, available through `⌘/` or Settings, and improves shortcut behavior around text input.
• Redesigns article navigation with adjacent-article preparation, interruptible transitions, edge-drag previews, and natural rebound animations.
• Gently dims article images in dark mode and restores their original brightness during interaction.
• Stores WebDAV passwords securely in the macOS Keychain and adds sync version checks and upload verification.
• Adds size and timeout safeguards for feeds, images, sync backups, and local-model downloads.
• Refines Settings, dialogs, the PRO purchase interface, image previews, overflow tooltips, and Mac title bars.
1.8.0 Sep 1
• Adds immersive reading on Mac. Double-click the reader title bar to hide the toolbar and tab strip; move the pointer to the top, press Escape, or use the menu to exit.
• Adds three line-spacing presets and lets you adjust inline article images from 40% to 100%.
• Adds Original, Bilingual, and Translation Only display modes for article translation. EchoPie now also detects when an article is already in the target language and avoids unnecessary translation.
• Lets you edit a feed’s URL, custom title, and category directly from the sidebar.
• Improves code and preformatted-text detection, including single-line code, nested fences, indentation, and legacy cached content. Code-block headers, folding, and copy actions are also clearer.
• Adds optional interface sounds for meaningful actions such as bookmarking and Read Later updates. Interface sounds are off by default.
• Improves Compact Reader behavior: opening it hides the main window, disabling Always on Top properly removes its floating state, and window transitions no longer trigger accidental auto-collapse.
• Improves memory usage and stability during long reading sessions, including local database operations and background translation or AI summary tasks.
• Refines animations across lists, the sidebar, reader, and dialogs, with refreshed illustrations and layouts for onboarding and empty states.
• Improves the Pro settings interface and operation feedback for clearer status and results.
1.7.0 Aug 26
• Redesigned the getting-started experience. In addition to pasting a website or feed URL, you can now choose 1–5 recommended sources across technology, design, and business.
• Reorganized the sidebar into two collapsible groups: Daily Reading for All, Today, and Unread; and Personal Library for Bookmarks, Read Later, and Notes.
• Added a Service Status page that brings together the availability of article translation, AI, local models, data sync, and PRO access, with shortcuts to the relevant settings.
The reader now distinguishes preformatted prose from actual code blocks. Regular text wraps naturally and supports translation instead of being incorrectly displayed as code.
• Improved code block interactions with hover and keyboard-focus copy controls, clearer copy confirmation, and better horizontal scrolling for long lines.
• Automatically corrects preformatted prose that was misidentified as code in older cached articles while preserving genuine commands and source code.
• Optimized image decoding and caching to reduce memory usage when reading articles with many high-resolution images.
• Refined cursor behavior to feel more native on macOS and fixed a lingering hover state after collapsing categories in the narrow sidebar.
1.6.0 Aug 21
• Added Immersive Reading on mobile, which hides the top toolbar. Tap the article to reveal the controls. The mode remains active when switching articles, and the Back action exits Immersive Reading first.
• Improved performance for very long and image-heavy articles with adaptive lazy rendering and simplified parsing to reduce lag.
• Enhanced image previews with double-tap zoom and swipe-down dismissal, plus smoother coordination between zooming, gallery navigation, and edge bounce.
• Improved reading continuity on mobile by locating the current article more accurately when returning to the article list.
• Redesigned mobile subscription drawer interactions with smoother category expansion and collapse. Expansion states are remembered, and the category containing the current feed opens automatically.
• Improved feed icon loading to reduce flickering when opening the drawer.
• Enhanced accessibility by adding selected, expanded, and button semantics to article lists, subscription categories, sidebars, and settings.
• Improved handling of malformed content by blocking invalid or unsafe article links, image URLs, and feed addresses, while preventing malformed attachments, synced data, or AI service URLs from causing crashes.
1.5.2 Aug 17
After two feature-packed releases, we slowed down a little for 1.5.1 and spent more time polishing the everyday reading experience.
• AI Overviews can now be generated automatically when you open an article for the first time. Overviews, explanations, and follow-up answers also use your selected target language. Full-size images, word clouds, and article share cards can now be saved locally.
• We also refined search, article-list performance, word-cloud rotation, and mobile navigation. The macOS menu bar menu now includes icons, along with a number of compatibility and stability fixes.
This release may not look dramatically different at first glance, but we hope it feels a little better every time you open EchoPie.
1.5.1 Aug 14
• The reader now supports mathematical formulas, Mermaid diagrams, syntax-highlighted code, collapsible sections, definition lists, navigable footnotes, and richer image captions and links.
• Selected text can be searched with Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, or Baidu, with results opening either inside EchoPie or in an external browser. On desktop, shortcuts now search the active article list or reader.
• The mobile image gallery supports interactive swipe navigation. A new button returns to the top when you reach the end of an article, while iOS edge navigation and long-article scrolling have also been refined.
• A new empty-library guide lets new users add their first feed or import an OPML file directly. No account is required, and data remains on the device by default.
• On macOS, the Dock and menu bar icons can be managed separately. When reopened from the menu bar in a multi-display setup, EchoPie appears on the current screen.
• Notes now have a separate sync control. Image sharing and AirDrop reliability have also been improved on iOS and macOS.
• Larger mobile touch targets, better accessibility information, and more responsive settings and narrow-window layouts improve everyday use.
• Font selection is now available to everyone. PRO prompts for sync, AI translation, and explanations now provide context for the action being requested.

• Improved text selection with better drag handling, horizontally scrollable action menus, edge fades, text scaling, and spacing.
• Improved mobile reading: dragging past the top or bottom of an article on iOS now moves to the previous or next article, and the image preview close button now respects the safe area.
• Added clear completion feedback for OneDrive, WiFi, and WebDAV sync.
• Refined desktop middle-pane resizing and minimum width, PRO plan presentation, and purchase restoration feedback.
