Load the wagon, pick your pace, and pray the river is kind. Six colors, square-wave beeps, and dysentery — just like the computer lab in 1985. It is 1848. You have one wagon, five hopeful souls, and 2,040 miles of prairie, mountains, and rivers that would very much like to tip you over. Go west. Try not to die. THE OREGANO TRAIL is a loving throwback to the computer-lab classics of the early 1980s — the games you played on a humming beige machine while your teacher thought you were learning. Six-color pixel art, a chunky terminal font, square-wave beeps synthesized the old way, and gentle scanlines. No remaster gloss. The real look, on your phone. YOUR CALLS, YOUR FUNERAL • Pick your profession — the banker rides easy, the farmer earns triple the glory • Outfit your wagon at the general store: oxen, food, clothing, ammunition, spare parts • Set the pace and the rations — push too hard and the trail pushes back • Ford the river, caulk and float, or pay the ferryman — choose wrong and pay dearly THE TRAIL FIGHTS FAIR (BUT IT FIGHTS) • Disease, snakebites, blizzards, hail, thieves, and broken axles — every setback is real and every one can be survived with the right supplies • Warm clothing matters when the blizzard hits. Spare parts matter when the wheel goes. Skimp at the store and you'll feel it on the trail • Mountains and forests slow the wagon. Plan around the terrain or fall behind the season SHOOT STRAIGHT OR STARVE • Hunt bison, deer, and rabbits in the sparse pixel woods • Ammo is money and money is scarce — every shot counts DIE HISTORICALLY • Succumb to dysentery like your ancestors intended • Every run ends on the trail or in the Willamette Valley — chase your best score on the Oregano Top Ten • Share your gravestone. It's what they would have wanted. HONEST RETRO • 100% offline — play in a tunnel, on a plane, or in a covered wagon • No ads, no accounts, no tracking, nothing to buy • Auto-saves your journey; quit and pick up the trail later No two runs end the same. The only thing I don’t like about this game is every time I go to buy supplies. I can’t get out of the number menu and end up having to just exit. It makes no sense.

This is just like the original, but it is missing sections. I played this game for 3 minutes and finished a run through. I really hope there is still more to come!Updated: thank you Mike for your prompt response! I’m excited to hear that there is in fact more to come and the game is in development.

As an og Oregon Trail top ten scorer, this game fell well short of my standards. It was nothing like my experience on the trail, and my people kept dying with no dysentery. I completed the quest in less than two minutes, a time that gives no justice to the many months our ancestors foraged and risked their lives for a new beginning. Oregano Trail has dishonored their legacy and I will not tolerate another minute (which would’ve gotten me halfway). I am EXTREMELY disappointed and have spent more time writing this than I did completing the game.

Pretty good but it’s way too short. Also you can’t make kids, it’s all adults

We have an updated version pending Apple review that makes the game longer. Hopefully it comes out in the next day or so. The kid part is an interesting idea. I’ll take that one back and look at how I can incorporate. Thanks for the feedback!
