Separately, worry-postponement research led by Thomas Borkovec found that parking a worry for a fixed time each day, as part of a structured multi-week program, can help quiet it rather than suppress it. And "sleeping on it" is old folk wisdom we treat as exactly that - wisdom, plus a healthy night of distance.
