RightClickOCR – PDF OCR
Right-click OCR for PDFs
Only for Mac
$24.99
Mac
Your scanned PDFs look fine — until you press ⌘F and nothing happens. RightClickOCR fixes that with one right-click, without your documents ever leaving your Mac.
Right-click any scanned PDF in Finder, choose "Make Searchable (OCR)", and seconds later a new copy sits beside the original — identical to the eye, but now you can search it, select text, copy quotes, and find it with Spotlight.
WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE RIGHTCLICKOCR
• 100% on-device. OCR runs with Apple's Vision framework on your Mac's own silicon. No cloud, no account, no upload, no telemetry. Nothing leaves the machine — ever.
• It lives in your right-click. No app to open, no files to drag into a window, no queue to manage. The tool comes to your files, not the other way around.
• Originals are sacred. RightClickOCR always writes a new "Name (Searchable).pdf" next to your file. Your original is never modified.
• Whole folders at once. Right-click a folder and every PDF inside gets processed in one batch.
• Crooked scans, handled. Pages are straightened automatically, and handwriting is recognized too — meeting notes, file memos, margin scribbles.
• $24.99 once. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no accounts. Buy it, own it.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Right-click a scanned PDF (or a folder of them) in Finder.
2. Choose RightClickOCR → Make Searchable (OCR).
3. Done. A searchable copy appears beside the original. Open it, press ⌘F, and find any word. Spotlight indexes it too.
BUILT FOR PEOPLE WHO CAN'T UPLOAD THEIR DOCUMENTS
RightClickOCR was built by a practicing attorney who was drowning in unsearchable discovery scans — and couldn't ethically feed privileged client documents to a cloud OCR service. If confidentiality is part of your job, this tool was built for your job:
• Legal — discovery productions, case files, signed agreements, exhibits
• Medical & healthcare admin — records and correspondence that must stay private
• Accounting & tax — client statements, receipts, filings
• Research & academia — archival scans, old papers, library copies
• Paralegals & executive assistants — the daily scan pile, batch-processed
• Anyone with a filing cabinet's worth of scans and a conscience about where they get uploaded
WHAT MAKES A PDF "SEARCHABLE"?
A scanned PDF is just a photograph of paper — there's no text in the file, so ⌘F, Spotlight, and Preview search find nothing. RightClickOCR reads every page and adds an invisible, perfectly aligned text layer under the image. The page looks exactly the same; the words underneath become real, selectable, searchable text.
PRIVATE BY ARCHITECTURE, NOT BY POLICY
Most OCR tools promise privacy in their terms of service. RightClickOCR promises it in its architecture: the app is sandboxed, touches only folders you approve, and collects nothing. There is no server to trust, because there is no server.
ONE-TIME 10-SECOND SETUP
macOS asks you to switch on every Finder-menu extension once: System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions → Extensions → Finder → toggle RightClickOCR on. The app walks you through it the first time you launch. After that, it's just… there, in your right-click, whenever you need it.

Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Make Searchable now rebuilds every page from a fresh scan of the page image, so old or stray text layers never end up in the copy. ⌘F finds each word once.
• Crooked scans are straightened automatically.
• Sideways and cropped pages come out exactly as they display.
• Pages with only a few lines, such as cover sheets, are recognized reliably.
• Several files chosen together are processed one after another, so every copy appears.
• Searchable copies stay close to the size of the original scan.
• The setup screen shows what is already done and asks nothing twice.
• New Open at Login switch keeps RightClickOCR in the menu bar, ready for the next right-click.
