New Pawprint Icon The app icon and paw markers throughout the app have been updated with a fresh new look. Alert Time Window Enhancements There was previously an issue when an Alert Time Window crossed midnight. That's been fixed and now they can work reliably overnight. New "All Day" toggle during setup. Reminder notes that Focus modes can silence alerts, plus a warning if no time windows are set. Delete Confirmations Alert Zones and Time Windows now ask for confirmation before deleting. Smarter Map Buttons The filter buttons now change colour when they are active. Reordered Species Lists Animal names are now more conveniently sorted alphabetically when reporting a sighting, filtering the map, and browsing wildlife info. Bug Fixes Fixed a bug that turned on a paused Alert Zone when editing it. Fixed a bug that prevented the correct date and time from being saved reliably when creating or editing a report. Fixed a bug that allowed an Alert Time Window to be saved with no days selected. Fixed a bug that could cause Alert Zone notifications to stop arriving after restoring the app to a new device.

Recent Activity With this update, you can now report when you come across recent wildlife activity, instead of only being able to report that you sighted or were approached by the animal. This is great for when you come home and notice fresh piles of droppings, footprints, claw marks, or a broken fence! Pause Alert Zones Having multiple alert zones set up is great, but if you're not interested in getting notifications in each whenever a report is made, that's not a good experience. Now on the settings page, you can simply toggle alert zones on or off without losing them completely. This is a great feature for when you're away from the cabin and won't be needing alerts from that zone for a while! Alert Zone Preview When setting up an alert zone, the map now shows a live circle representing the zone's radius as you adjust it. This means you can better gauge the size of the zone for which you want to be alerted to wildlife encounters. New Animal Species Bobcat has been added to the species list, along with an "unknown" species - this one works well when paired with the new "recent activity" report, for when you want to share that you have evidence of a nearby animal, but aren't sure what it is. Wildlife Info There are now info pages for all of the animal species, not just black bears! Of course, this is just for general awareness and does not replace guidance from local wildlife authorities.

Notification Cooldowns Previously, every sighting within one of your Alert Zones would trigger an alert. However, as more people use the app and report more sightings, the risk of repeat alerts for the same animal goes up. Nobody wants to go crazy with alerts, so this version introduces Notification Cooldowns. You can still choose to be alerted to every sighting within your Alert Zones, but you can now also choose to limit the frequency of reports of the same animal type in the same Alert Zone until a cooldown period has passed. You can also choose how long you want the cooldown period to be: 10, 20, or 30 minutes. Alerts about other animal types in that same Alert Zone will still be active during the cooldown period. Enhanced Report Sharing When you share a wildlife sighting report, a notification alerts all existing users who have that area monitored by an Alert Zone. However, perhaps there are other people that you'd like to notify: friends, neighbours, some who are outside iOS or not yet using Critterhood. Now, there is a new share button immediately after submitting your report, which opens the iOS share sheet and allows you to easily share with other messaging or social media apps, with an editable message conveniently pre-filled with your sighting information. This will make it even easier to keep people notified of wildlife sightings. Prominent Report Now Button The Report Now button has been made even more prominent on the dashboard, making it even easier and more intuitive to submit a wildlife sighting report. Go to Top Button It was sometimes not immediately obvious when the dashboard was scrolled down and the Report Now button was hidden. Now you can jump instantly to the top of the page with a button that appears in the upper right corner only when the dashboard has scrolled down. Map Compass Fix The map compass now correctly reflects your orientation when exploring sightings. New Animal Species Due to popular request, skunks and foxes can now be reported. Info pages for these (and other animals) will be coming in a future update. Change Log A version Change Log has been added to the Settings page.
