Descent of Yomi

Deck-builder meets Soulslike

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Descent of Yomi is a roguelike deckbuilding card game about descending, ever deeper, through an underworld that reshapes itself with every run. Gather cards and relics, hone your deck, cut down the boss yokai that bar your way, and reach the deepest floor of the land of the dead. ・Branching maps that change every run — no two descents are alike ・80+ yokai from Japanese folklore / 180+ cards / 170+ relics ・7 Origins with distinct playstyles, and unlocks that grow as you play ・Sakatoki — cheat death once per run by turning back time ・Beyond the final boss waits the bottomless Endless Descent ◆Into the Depths of Yomi, Again and Again At the deepest reach of Yomi, the land of the dead, lurks the source of all calamity. You stake your life and descend — deeper, and deeper still. Hitotsume-kozō, rokurokubi, kasha, gashadokuro... the old lineage of Japanese yokai lies in wait. Death is not the end. Carve its memory into your cards, and descend again. ◆Offense Is Defense — the Stamina Game Stamina is the heart of every duel. While your stamina holds, your body is hard to cut — yet every card you play burns stamina too. Press the attack and your guard thins; hide behind it and you lose your edge. Read the enemy's moves, turn them aside with Parry, and the instant their stamina breaks — drive the critical blow home. Poison seeps in, piercing blades find flesh. Take the next step down anyway. ◆A Journey That Is Never the Same Twice Over 180 cards and 170 relics — the combinations are endless, and there is no single answer. Branching paths, shrine blessings, merchants, the forge: every choice compounds into a deck and a journey that are yours alone. And should a yokai's claws bring you down, Sakatoki will turn back time — once — to the moment before your death. ◆Yokai Transformation — Wield the Power of Oni At the cursed Magatsu sites along the way, forbidden cards lie sleeping. Curse cards hold power enough to overturn any battle — but play one, and you can never be fully human again. Stack curses upon your soul to survive, or die untainted. That choice will shape how your journey ends. ◆Ink-and-Blood Artwork, Sound of Old Japan A unified Japanese aesthetic — as if incense and paper, ink and blood rose from the screen. A genre-crossing soundtrack laced with traditional Japanese instrumentation colors the dark road below. ーCan You Return from Yomi Alive? Challenge. Fall. Rise again. See for yourself what waits at the bottom of the underworld.

1.0.5 — Karma, a new tier of difficulty For those who have already descended into Yomi and returned. A new difficulty, Karma, awaits. ■ New [Karma difficulty] Once you complete a descent, a difficulty selector appears on the Origin screen. Clearing one tier unlocks the next, and each tier carries every effect of the tiers below it. Unlocks are shared across all Origins — clear a tier with any one Origin and the next opens for every Origin. [Per-Origin clear records] The Origin screen now shows a banner marking whether that Origin has cleared the selected tier. [Abandon your current run] You can now discard a run in progress from the title screen and start fresh. (Keyboard: Delete / Controller: B / Mouse & touch: press the label) ■ Changes - Beyond Depth 81 of the Endless Descent, enemies now grow stronger each time you face them again. Health rises slowly while vigor and attack lead the curve — deeper fights stay short, but turn lethal. - Adjusted the balance of some enemies. - Cards can no longer be banished at the Smithy if it would take your deck below 10 cards. Curse cards count toward the total. - Affliction stacks are now capped at 999. ■ Fixes - Fixed rewards and Shrines offering fewer choices than intended — in the worst case, none at all — even when candidates remained. This was most likely deep in the Endless Descent. - Fixed the gold and jade shown on the map preview disagreeing with the amount actually granted. - Added a fallback so you can always leave a Shrine, in the rare case the "Move on" option never became pressable.
