Penchant: Daily Writing
A prompt a day for writers
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Every writer knows the exercise that works: ten minutes a day, one word, and everything it makes you notice. Almost nobody keeps it up.
Penchant makes it stick.
Each day you get a single word. A ten-minute timer gives you room to write about it however it comes — what you see, hear, taste, remember. No plot, no pressure, no blank page to fill. Songwriters and poets call it object writing, and they've sworn by it for years to write with more color and fewer clichés. Penchant gives it everything a notebook can't.
KEEP THE LINES YOU LOVE
Highlight a line and it goes straight to your vault: searchable, saved, and yours. No more losing your best phrase between a grocery list and an old voice memo. Penchant even brings back lines you wrote weeks ago, right when you'd forgotten them — so nothing good ever really disappears.
FEEDBACK, NOT A GHOSTWRITER
Penchant reads what you wrote and shows you where it came alive and where it went flat — which details landed, which you left on the table. It never writes a word for you. This is a place to get better, not to hand your voice to a machine.
BUILT FOR MOST DAYS, NOT PERFECT STREAKS
Ten minutes. One word. Grace when you miss a day. The habit is the whole point, and the habit is kind.
FOR ANYONE WHO WRITES
Songwriters warming up before a session. Poets sharpening an image. Novelists, journal-keepers, and anyone who wants to notice the world a little more closely and put it into words.
Free to start. Ten quiet minutes. Most days.
Minor fixes.
