Taylormade Camera
Pro Camera, Editor & Prompter
Free · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
Taylormade Camera is a pro camera and editor built for people who make content on their phone — talking heads, vlogs, reels, tutorials.
SHOOT LIKE A PRO
Apple Log color, HEVC recording, and a true 180° shutter for natural motion blur. Front or back camera, one tap. Focus peaking, zebras, false color, and a live histogram show you exactly what you're capturing — no guessing.
SKIN TONE GUARD
The camera watches your face in real time and rides exposure automatically so skin tones stay right, even as the light changes around you.
READ WHILE YOU RECORD
A built-in teleprompter scrolls your script next to the camera, calibrated to your speaking pace, with mirror mode for beam-splitter rigs.
EDIT RIGHT ON YOUR PHONE
Trim, split, and reorder clips on a real timeline. Add music or record a voiceover. Remove a green-screen background. Apply color looks or import your own .cube LUTs. Export straight to Photos.
EXTERNAL MICS, HANDLED
Bluetooth microphones are picked up automatically — connect one and Taylormade Camera switches to it instantly.
YOUR FOOTAGE STAYS YOURS
No account, no cloud, no tracking, no ads. Everything you shoot and edit stays on your iPhone unless you choose to export it.

ADD TO TIMELINE — NOW ON EVERY TAKE
• Finish a take and "Add to timeline" is right there next to Save. It used to appear only when a teleprompter script was loaded; now it is on every video take.
• Choose where it lands: start a new project, or add it to a project you are already building. Each one shows a thumbnail and its clip count, so you can pick by eye.
• Keep rolling and keep adding — take after take stacks onto the same timeline without a trip back to Projects.
• Change your mind and nothing is lost. Cancel, and the take is already waiting in Projects ▸ Camera takes.
ALSO IN THIS UPDATE
• Shooting sideways: the buttons you see after a take now sit on one row in landscape, so they stay clear of your shot.
• The review buttons stay readable at larger text sizes instead of getting cut off.
1.5.1 Aug 24
Shoot horizontal. Turn your phone sideways and the camera turns with it — real 16:9 widescreen, not a cropped vertical video.
HORIZONTAL VIDEO
• Turn the phone sideways on the camera screen and everything rotates: the viewfinder, the controls, and the video you record. You get true widescreen 16:9.
• The teleprompter comes along, and sideways it is the widest and easiest-to-read it has ever been.
• Controls move to where your thumbs already are — record button on one side, your assists on the other, presets across the bottom.
• Works even if you keep Portrait Orientation Lock turned on, the same way the built-in Camera does.
• Your framing is locked once you hit record, so a take can never change shape halfway through.
• Everything else in the app stays upright, exactly where you expect it.
ALSO FIXED
• Your takes are now saved with the right dimensions. Vertical videos were being filed as if they were horizontal, which could confuse editing later.
• The Apple Watch framing mirror was showing a sideways picture. It now matches what is on your phone.
1.5.0 Aug 19
A better editor: live trim preview, sound while you edit, and playback that keeps rolling — plus a countdown on your watch.
EDITING
• Sound now plays while you edit — even with the ring switch on silent. The editor previously played by the phone's ringer rules, so a silenced phone meant silent previews.
• Playback no longer stops when you adjust something. Change a look, exposure, volume, or text mid-play and the video keeps rolling with the change applied.
• Trimming got a real monitor: drag a trim handle and you see the exact frame under your finger — with your look and crop applied — plus an IN/OUT readout so you know precisely where the cut lands. Release, and playback picks up right at your cut.
• Trimming pauses playback while your finger is down, and the timeline stays smooth through the whole drag.
• Fixed: the preview could go black or freeze while trimming.
APPLE WATCH
• Starting a recording from your watch now gives you a 3-second countdown to get in frame — with a tap on your wrist each second, and a big 3-2-1 on the phone screen. Tap again during the count to cancel.
• The countdown follows your Settings timer (turn it to Off for instant recording, or up to 60 seconds).
1.4.1 Aug 3
Crop, a real shutter angle, and a much bigger preview — plus a fix for washed-out video.
EXPOSURE
• Fixed: the camera could drift far too bright and stay there, correcting itself and then washing out again. Skin Guard was reading the picture in the wrong scale and pushing exposure up against a target it could never reach. It now measures the same way the app's own exposure tools do, waits for the camera to respond before nudging again, and can never push into blown-out highlights.
• Skin Guard now has an off switch outside Pro — tap BRIGHT on the camera screen.
• New BRIGHT control: a plain brightness slider for anyone who does not want to think about ISO.
SHUTTER + ISO
• Shutter angle is now something you choose — 45°, 90°, 144°, 172.8°, 180°, 270°, 360° — instead of a fixed 180°.
• Angle and speed are shown together, because they are the same setting two ways. Set one, the other follows.
• ISO is now visible in every exposure mode, with the camera's live value, and holding an ISO no longer jumps the exposure — the shutter is matched so the picture stays put.
• Tap the ISO readout on the camera to jump straight to the controls.
EDITING
• New Crop tool: 9:16, 4:5, 1:1, 16:9 or original, zoom in, and drag the picture to choose what stays.
• Add clips you shot in the app straight to the timeline — no exporting to Photos and importing them back.
• Fixed: adding a clip from the timeline did nothing at all. It works now.
• Imports that fail now tell you WHY (a video still in iCloud, no room on the phone) instead of a silent count.
• A much bigger preview: the tool panel fits its contents, empty timeline lanes are gone, and a new button hands the whole panel's space to the video.

Fixes from your first-day feedback — keep it coming.
IMPORTING
• Importing from Photos now shows real progress ("Importing 1 of 3…") and tells you when a video stored in iCloud needs to download first
• If an import fails, the app now SAYS so instead of silently doing nothing
AUDIO
• If no audio is coming in while you record, a warning appears within seconds — no more discovering a silent take after the fact
• With a Bluetooth mic connected, take playback now comes out of the iPhone speaker (it used to route into the mic itself — which has no speaker)
TELEPROMPTER
• Write a new script right from the camera — no more detour to the Scripts tab when you have no scripts yet
• A + button next to the script picker starts a new script any time
1.3.1 Jul 24
NEW: EASY MODE
• The camera opens simple by default — no dials, no jargon, just point and shoot
• One tap into Pro whenever you want full manual control (ISO, shutter, white balance, focus)
• A rescue banner catches a blown-out shot in seconds and fixes it in one tap
NEW: SHOOT A SCRIPT SCENE BY SCENE
• Load a script into the teleprompter, record a scene, and it lands straight on an edit timeline
• Trim it, tap + to shoot the next scene, and the teleprompter picks up exactly where you left off
• Keep going until the script is done — no more re-importing every take by hand
REVIEW BEFORE YOU MOVE ON
• Every take now plays back immediately after you stop recording — see it before you decide to keep it or retake
EASIER EDITING
• Undo and redo any edit — trims, splits, text, effects
• Pinch to zoom the timeline in and out for frame-accurate cuts
• Export now shows real progress with a Cancel button
PRO CONTROLS
• Full-screen Pro layout with live preview, grouped exposure/focus/white-balance/audio controls
• Save your own settings as a one-tap preset
EVERYTHING ELSE
• Bigger buttons and text throughout, full VoiceOver support, and Dynamic Type sizing
• The "Edit" tab is now "Projects" — tapping a take you've already started editing reopens that project instead of starting over
1.3 Jul 22
NEW: APPLE WATCH REMOTE
• Record, stop, and retake from your wrist — with a live framing mirror so you never have to touch the phone
NEW: HDR VIDEO
• Record 10-bit Dolby Vision HDR — real highlight punch on modern screens
NEW: EASIER EDITING
• Rebuilt timeline: the playhead stays centered and you scroll your video under it — no more chasing a marker
• Bigger trim handles, a time ruler, and Split that cuts exactly where you see the line
• Fixed a bug that stopped exports after trimming
• Delete clips right from your library
NEW: HORIZON LEVELER
• A level line that snaps gold when your shot is straight
NEW: STEP-BY-STEP WALKTHROUGH
• A guided tour with hand-drawn arrows pointing at exactly what it explains — peaking, zebras, false color, Skin Tone Guard, and more
CAMERA
• What you frame is what you record — the preview now matches your export exactly, front and back
• A full-width audio meter above your controls so you can see levels and catch peaking
• Pro mode opens at ISO 100, 180° shutter — the cinema baseline; set the countdown timer to any length
• External mics (DJI, USB) always win over AirPods for auto-connect
• The screen no longer sleeps while the camera is open
• Codec picker now spells out HEVC (H.265); fixed a Log color ISO display bug
1.2.1 Jul 21
INTERVIEW AUDIO
• Plug in a dual-channel wireless receiver and get a live meter for each person, a 2CH badge, and a heads-up if one mic goes silent mid-take
• External USB mics are now first-class: auto-connect, stereo capture, clean fallback if unplugged
RECORD
• Review every take: Retake or Save after you stop — no more clutter in your library
• Voiceover mode: record audio-only takes with the teleprompter, then drop them into your edit
• Back lens picker (0.5x / 1x / telephoto)
• More accurate zebras and false color, including Apple Log monitoring
• Camera recovers automatically after calls and interruptions
TELEPROMPTER
• Bigger reading area with drag-to-scroll and live speed control
• Edit your script right from the camera screen
