AURUM is a physics puzzle of transmutation. Drop living substances into a golden vessel, fuse like with like, and raise matter through eleven forms, from lead grey to radiant, until the Great Work yields its prize: AURUM, liquid gold.
Substances tumble, settle and come to rest against one another with real weight, in physics written for this game alone. Unions chain into cascades, and cascades sing: every merge plays a note on an instrument built from scratch. A perfect chain becomes a melody you will want to hear again.
THE GREAT WORK runs sixteen stages through the four chapters of the Magnum Opus: Nigredo, Albedo, Citrinitas, Rubedo. Keep the nightly Watches. Turn the seasons at the Orrery. Earn feats and epithets worthy of a master.
Your sanctum is yours to dress: palettes, vessels, skies, voices, and finishes that mature, growing richer the longer you keep them.

The Great Work grows. Four new rites join the shelf: Jade Court, Pearl of the Moon, Cinnabar and Sapphire Deep, each with its own palette, vessel, sky and voice, and every rite ripens through four degrees. A star falls now and then, and tonight's star is the same for every alchemist. The vault glows with all the gold you have poured, and a returning alchemist meets a second night. Thirty-eight deeds, a weekly circle on the firmament, and a quiet word at your usual hour, if you allow it.
