Whisperleaf turns speech into text — entirely on your iPhone. Record a thought, a meeting, or an interview; import a voice memo or an audio file someone sent you. Everything is transcribed on your device, and nothing ever leaves it.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account. No cloud. No internet required. Your audio and transcripts stay on your device — no one can steal them from a server, or use them to train AI. Recording works on a plane, in places with no signal, in secure buildings.
WHAT IT DOES
• Live transcription while you record — watch your words appear
• Speaker labels: voices are told apart and labeled automatically; rename, merge, or restore any label with a tap
• Summaries of long recordings, generated on your device (optional one-time download)
• Translation, on-device, using Apple's translation languages
• On-device translation supports Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Arabic, Hindi
• Import audio (m4a, mp3, wav) and transcribe it — voice memos, interviews, files from chat
• Export transcripts as text, PDF, or Word, together with the audio
• Continue recording into an existing transcript
• Clean Up: tidy filler words and stumbles while keeping your words yours — the original is always kept
• Record with the screen off; recordings are saved safely even if a phone call interrupts

Apple Speech runs instantly with no download. Want wider language coverage? Download the Whisper model (about 630 MB, one time) and switch in Settings. Remove it, or the optional summarizer, at any time.

• Translating a long transcript now shows real progress, and canceling a language download is no longer treated as an error.
