Text them back: type to anyone in the recovered phone, and they answer in their own voice. A new phone reaches your desk every week. No account. No ads.
Someone's phone. Someone's secrets.
A phone was found. Its owner wasn't. The department puts the recovered phone on your desk, and everything you need to solve the case is already in your hands: their messages, their photos, their voicemails, their lies.
You're the detective. Read everything. Pin what doesn't add up. When 2 pinned facts can't both be true, you've broken the case open. Then name your suspect, back it with evidence, and get graded on your work, from S to F. The grade goes on your record. So does everything else.
THE METHOD
• READ EVERYTHING: messages, photos, notes, mail, and voicemails that speak out loud, each contact with their own voice
• TEXT THEM BACK: type to anyone in the phone and they answer in their own words. Nobody hands you the answer.
• PIN WHAT'S WRONG: anything suspicious goes on your case board, connected with red string
• BREAK THE LIE: 2 facts that can't both be true make a breakthrough
• ACCUSE: name who did it, prove it, and live with your grade
THE CASES
Case 1 is free from start to finish:
• COMET: a 12-year-old stargazer disappears before dawn, and her telescope shouldn't work anymore
The case file (a one-time purchase) or the Retainer (a subscription) opens every other case, 50 today, and every case added later:
• MIRA: a travel influencer with 900k followers vanishes between 2 posts
• HARBOR: a night watchman's phone, fished out of the harbor with 7 messages addressed to you
• ALIAS: a woman with no name, 8 aliases, and a phone mailed to the department by no one
• SIGNAL: 5 students chase a radio station that doesn't exist, and the mountain sends back a phone
Every folder shows how long its case takes, and new cases lead the desk under NEW THIS WEEK.
THE CASE FILE AND THE RETAINER
• The case file is paid once and opens every case for good.
• While the Retainer runs, it opens every case, makes lab analyses unlimited, and adds the department's full account of every case you close. If it ends, every case you closed stays on your desk.
• Played before version 2.8? Every case that was already on your desk stays open.
THE DEPARTMENT
• Earn your rank, from TRAINEE to CHIEF INSPECTOR. Promotions are rare and remembered.
• 4 endings per case: the ones you earn stay on your record, and the ones you miss dare you to reopen the case
• Take the oath and sign it in your own hand. Your signature lives on your service record.
• Send a case to a friend after your verdict. Once they make their own accusation, they see who you named and your grade.
• A forensics lab for when you're stuck. No case needs it. You start with 1 analysis, and credit packs add more.
YOUR PHONE STAYS YOURS
No account. No sign-in. No ads. No tracking. Your cases, grades, and progress live on your device. When you text a contact, our server reads the message to pick their reply and keeps no copy.
The desk lamp is on, Detective. Case 1 is already waiting.
Detective's Retainer is an auto-renewable subscription: $3.99 a week, $6.99 a month, or $39.99 a year in the US. Apple charges your Apple Account when you subscribe, then at the start of each new term. The subscription renews until you cancel it in Settings. Credit packs are one-time purchases.

This game is really fun and cool but the reason I gave it four stars is because I feel like it could be better, it’s a bit confusing and the voices are kinda creepy. I got this game because I finished an Elmwood trail and I’m waiting for episode four, I saw this game and thought it would be fun and a little similar. I feel like there should be options to text people more than just once and your text should pop up. Other than that this is a really fun game and it has potential just needs a little more depth and work like the voices especially lol.
Developer Response
Thank you, seriously. This is probably the most useful review we’ve gotten so far.About the voices, they are actually supposed to feel a little unsettling because you’re listening to recordings from strangers’ phones. That’s kind of the whole point. But if it feels more creepy/uncomfortable than tense or interesting, then yeah, we didn’t get that balance right. We’re already reworking the voice mix and delivery for the next update. And you’re completely right about the texting. I think that’s the biggest issue you pointed out. You reply once, then you don’t even see your own message in the conversation, so it starts feeling like you’re not really part of it. We’re putting that at the top of the list.Really appreciate you taking the time to write all of this.Thanks.
Game Center comes to the department.
• Leaderboards: see who has closed the most cases this week and of all time. The top 3 stand on brass plates, and your own place shows below the top 10.
• Nine department ranks, four of them new: Superintendent, Chief Superintendent, Commander, and Commissioner. Each has its own medal.
• Every rank is a Game Center achievement, and the Games app shows how close the next one is.
• A rank you have not earned yet shows its medal in full color.
• The case wire: say yes, and a sealed case's phone forwards you one message a day for a week. Turn it off in Settings at any time.
• If the App Store sends no prices, the offer now says so and tries again.
• Other bug fixes and small improvements.
