DermDecode reads the ingredient panel on any skincare product and explains what is actually in it - in plain English, matched to the skin type, concerns and preferences you tell it about.
HOW IT WORKS
- Point your camera at the ingredient list on the back of the bottle
- DermDecode reads the label and identifies each INCI ingredient
- You get a breakdown: what each ingredient does, what is worth knowing, and how the formula lines up with your profile
- Every scan is saved to your history, so you can compare products later
BUILT FOR YOUR SKIN, NOT AVERAGE SKIN
Tell DermDecode your skin type, what you are working on - breakouts, sensitivity, aging, dark spots, eczema-prone, fungal acne, rosacea - and anything you would rather avoid, such as fragrance, essential oils, drying alcohols, sulfates or silicones. The same product can read very differently for two people. DermDecode shows you your version.
PREGNANCY MODE
Switch it on and DermDecode highlights ingredients that are commonly raised in conversations about pregnancy, so you can bring them to your doctor or midwife.
CONSISTENT, HUMAN-REVIEWED INFORMATION
Ingredient explanations come from a human-reviewed knowledge base built into the app - they are not improvised. The same ingredient list with the same profile always gets the same breakdown.
NO JARGON, NO SCARE TACTICS
DermDecode explains what ingredients are generally understood to do, and says plainly where the evidence is limited.
WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHOTO
The photo you take is sent over an encrypted connection to OpenAI, our AI provider, and used once to read the ingredient text. DermDecode does not store it, and it is not used to train AI models. The app asks before your first photo is sent.
FREE AND PRO
DermDecode is free to use, with a limited number of scans and occasional ads. DermDecode Pro removes both - unlimited scans and no ads - monthly or yearly, with a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. Subscriptions are billed through your Apple Account and can be managed there at any time.
