Surakarta is a classic strategy game from the city of Solo on Java, Indonesia. Two sides of twelve pieces each face off on a 6×6 grid. What makes it special are the eight loops around the edges: only a piece that travels through at least one of these loops can capture. This creates a game with a movement all its own — calm in its build-up, surprising in its turns.
Lingkar brings this game to iPhone and iPad in a modern, lovingly crafted edition. The capture along the loop is rendered as a fluid animation: the piece visibly travels around the curve before taking your opponent.

Play in turns on the same iPhone, or use table mode on iPad: the board sits in the middle, both sides see their own status bar, with the opponent's rotated 180°.

An interactive tutorial in three chapters gently introduces the rules — skippable at any time. Plus 50 tactical puzzles across three difficulty levels that make the capture along the loop second nature.
CULTURE WITH SUBSTANCE
A small culture section tells of the city of Surakarta, of the tradition of scratching the board into the sand and playing with shells, and of batik and the Kawung pattern — brief, careful, and respectful.
