POUR
Hold your finger over the jar and sand streams through the funnel. Tilt your phone while you pour — the layers land on a slant, just like tilting the bottle at the fair table.
FEATHER
Drag the skewer through your layers and watch them pull into chevrons and waves. Four tips to work with: the classic skewer, a fine toothpick for writing, a three-prong rake for combed waves, and a flat paddle.
CORK IT
When it's right, cork it. Your jar goes on the Shelf with its name — and a time-lapse of its whole birth you can share.
THE RULES OF SAND ARE REAL
Fill it to the brim before you cork it, or it shakes to mud. And an uncorked jar turned upside down? It pours out the mouth, grain by grain, until it's gone. That's why you cork them.
