Now made for iPhone Duo. Dayword fits the big inner display, with your daily words, review, and progress laid out to use the extra space. Open it up and learn. The average person picks up their phone 144 to 186 times per day. Turn those moments into Chinese learning opportunities. Learn every time you glance at your lock screen. No textbooks. No long lessons. No pressure. Learn practical Chinese vocabulary. See characters, pinyin and meaning, hear pronunciation, read an example sentence, and remember each word with simple spaced review. Start with a short placement check so Dayword can focus new vocabulary around your current HSK level while occasionally checking important foundations. Track your progress through the HSK ladder and keep Chinese visible throughout the day with Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets. Dayword includes a family-safe curriculum of more than 10,000 words derived from the HSK 2025 vocabulary, with focused decks for daily Chinese, HSK study, travel, signs, school, and work. Features: - Placement check with 1, 3, and 5-minute options - Level-aware daily vocabulary - Simplified and traditional character display - Pinyin and concise English meanings - Pronunciation audio and example sentences - Spaced review with Again and Got it grading - Progress ladder and activity streak - HSK, daily, travel, signs, school, and work decks - Local progress storage with no account required - Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets Note: Dayword requires a paid subscription. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your App Store account settings after purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. I have been learning Chinese for years, first in high school. I’ve always struggled staying motivated and feeling like I was making progress. This app is simple but keeps me practicing in a really simple way, and it shows me my HSK level, so I can track how I’m doing. I’m so excited to be practicing and learning again! And for a very reasonable price!!

You have to pay just to use this app and it’s $3/wk or $30 yearly. Basically, you might as well pay $30 if you want to use it, as that makes it 5x cheaper a week. But it’s a subscription model, so you’re on the hook and they can just raise the price whenever they want. I like the idea of this app, but the price/pay-model is prohibitively expensive. There’s not even a trial so you can see if it’s useful which is another big issue.

Thank you for your feedback. We have added a 7 day trial for new users to test out the app for free!

Okay, but needs work

Always plays a sound when you complete reviewing a word. It’s painful and impossible to turn off. Please fix this. Examples are slightly weird (AI) and definitions are not precisely useful because they don’t carry the context of where those words are used (AI pulled). I would recommend waiting/looking elsewhere unless the devs make some changes regarding these topics.

Made for iPhone Duo Dayword now runs natively on iPhone Duo. Unfold it and your words, reviews, and progress spread across the inner display, with navigation in the side rail. Fold it back and everything picks up where you left off. Manage your subscription in the app Settings → Manage subscription now opens a built-in subscription center. Check your plan, restore purchases, or contact support without leaving Dayword. Faster and more reliable We made bug fixes and performance improvements, including moved Dayword onto a newer foundation, so screens load faster, links into the app open the right page, and everything feels smoother day to day. Thanks for learning with Dayword. If something feels off, tap Contact support in Settings and we’ll take a look.
