Keep your interviews out of iCloud Backup. Settings has a Privacy switch that leaves your recordings, transcripts and voice samples out of the backup, so no copy of them reaches Apple. It starts off, because the backup is also how you get your library back if the phone is lost or replaced: turn it on for a story where that trade goes the other way, and export anything you cannot lose. Export as PDF or Rich Text. A Kayit PDF opens with a title block naming the interview, who is in it and how long it runs, and every page is footed with the name and the page number, so a transcript can be filed or handed over as a document. Rich Text takes it into Pages, Word or Google Docs with the speakers and timestamps already styled. Take your quotes out in a shape something else can read. A quote list exports as Markdown or as a CSV table, one row per quote across a whole project, and a project's quotes file is real Markdown: every passage a blockquote under the name of the interview it came from. On iPad, leave a speaker out of the summary. Choose who the summary covers from the Summary tab: drop the interviewer and it summarizes what your source said, not the questions. Everything is still read for context, so the answers keep their meaning. Also on iPad, Regenerate now sits in the tab you are reading, and the age beside it is that tab's. The line under the panel used to report the age of the last Newsworthy run no matter which tab you were on, so regenerating a summary appeared to do nothing. And on iPad, a long interview gets the same summary a short one does: four to six points either way, where a long transcript used to come back with eleven. If the sections it was summarized in cannot be combined, the Summary tab says so instead of leaving you to notice the repeats.

Projects. File your interviews into named projects and archive a project when the story is filed. A project is a folder in your library, so your filing is the same in Kayit, in Finder and in a backup, and nothing moves unless you ask. Choose New Project from the File menu, drag an interview onto a project in the sidebar, or use Move to Project from a row. One roster for a whole project. Naming a speaker now offers the names you have already used in that project's other interviews, so a source you have interviewed six times is spelled the same way six times. Every quote in a project, in one place. Open a project's quotes to see every passage you have saved across its interviews, and export them together. A project keeps its own notes. The running list of what you still need lives in the project as a plain Markdown file, so you can open it in Finder or in your notes app as well as in Kayit. Send a whole project. Export a project the way you export an interview, audio and transcripts together, and open it on another Mac. Filter the sidebar. Type in the field below the list to find an interview by name, wherever it is filed, including inside an archived project. Rename an interview. Choose Rename Interview from the row menu in Recent or All Interviews, or from the Transcribe window, and Kayit moves the recording and everything saved beside it: the transcript, your saved quotes and the AI insights. Correcting a typo no longer discards your insights. Editing a single character used to throw away the summary and every flagged passage for that interview; they now survive the edit and stay on the right words. Take the insights with you. Copy or share the whole summary as Markdown, or use the context menu on a single point or outline entry to take just that one. A Newsworthy passage copies with its speaker and timestamp, in the same shape a saved quote copies in. Name what you export. The export sheet now lets you name the text file, the zip or a single audio clip yourself, instead of taking the name Kayit worked out for you. Insights runs the better model on more Macs. The most capable on-device model needed 24 GB of memory and now needs 16 GB, so on a 16 GB Mac the panel finishes in about two-thirds the time and chooses better. A Mac with 8 GB now runs the mid-sized model, which used to need 14 GB. More flagged passages, and fewer repeats. The pass that finds striking lines was throwing away about half of what it found, and the summary no longer repeats quotes the Newsworthy list already carries. Hiding a speaker now hides everything they said. Filtering a speaker out of the Newsworthy list used to leave their own striking lines standing underneath it. The speaker's name sits above the paragraph now, and appears only where the speaker changes. The waveform is legible in dark mode again.
