Your books become specimens, completed pages form molecules, and every session adds new data to a personal archive of stories, genres, and reading habits. Begin by scanning a supported ISBN barcode or adding a title manually. When information is available, Codex Lab retrieves the book’s title, author, cover, and category details through Open Library. Each new specimen receives its own reagent code and a place inside your growing collection. Reading remains the heart of every experiment. Record how many pages you completed, add a label to the session, and return whenever you are ready to continue. A 42-day Experiment Calendar reveals the rhythm of your activity without turning a missed day into failure. As the archive develops, Codex Lab translates ordinary reading statistics into the language of a fictional research facility. Temperature represents the intensity of your recent activity. Yield reflects the pages produced across your sessions. Genre Balance shows how your attention is distributed between different types of books. Reagent Analytics lets you inspect individual specimens, while Lab Control provides a broader view of your reading pace, collection, and recent experiments. The Periodic Table of Genres turns your library into a field of element-inspired symbols. Horror, science fiction, mystery, and other categories occupy their own places, making it easy to see which parts of the literary table you have explored and which remain undiscovered. Once a month, Genre Alchemy combines two categories into a new reading challenge. Choose a book that fits the pairing, complete the experiment through real reading, and collect molecules as a record of the result. The interface brings the laboratory fiction to life through aged paper, dark glass, brass instruments, coded labels, and restrained steampunk details. The theme is especially suited to horror, science fiction, and mystery, while the tracking system works with books from any genre. Your collection and reading records are stored locally on your device. Codex Lab requires no account and includes no advertising or social feed. This is not a shelf to maintain. It is a body of research built one page at a time.
