The Annual plans are auto-renewable subscriptions. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. A plan renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and your account is charged within those 24 hours. You can manage or cancel a plan at any time in your App Store account settings. The Lifetime plans are one-time purchases and never renew.

TV Guide without setup: your provider's guide downloads by itself and stays fresh, and channels without proper ids are matched by name, so now/next shows on more channels.
Lighter on memory: pictures are decoded at the size they are shown. When something cannot be played, the message says why.
