Bug fixes and improvements to prayer reading, minyan-only sections, and calendar-based prayer suggestions.

The Apple Watch app is here — properly here, inside the app you already have. ON THE WRIST, ON ITS OWN Daven's watch app has been built and tested for months, but a build setting left it out of the binary that reached the App Store, so wearers who went looking for it were told the app was not compatible with their watch. It was not their watch. This release puts it where it always belonged. Seven pages under the crown, all computed on the watch itself and all offline, with no iPhone needed and nothing fetched: • Now — the next zman, counting down, and what to daven • Siddur — the day's service in full, in your nusach • Brachos — the blessings, by what is in front of you • Zmanim — the whole board for where you are • Calendar — the Hebrew date and the month around it • Compass — which way to face • Omer — while it is being counted The watch's text is generated from the phone's own siddur and its own rules, so the two can never drift apart: a build whose watch content lags the phone is now refused before it is made. ALSO IN THIS RELEASE Six of the pinned siddur sources were corrected upstream and those corrections are adopted here — typographical fixes, a duplicated word removed, and one phrase that had been missing restored. Everything from the last release is still here: the daily Daf Yomi with its phrase-level translation, the Kinnim and Midot days, and the reader that gives the printed page the whole screen. No ads, no data sale, no cross-app tracking.

Daf Yomi comes to Daven: the world's page of Talmud, set as type rather than photographed, with the English one tap away. THE DAILY DAF Today's daf is one tap from Today. Both amudim, the printed page in the Vilna typefaces with Rashi on the inner margin and Tosafot on the outer, and a reader that gives the page the whole screen. TAP THE GEMARA, GET THE ENGLISH Touch any phrase and the page zooms to it, holds it in gold, and its English answers below — with arrows to walk the daf phrase by phrase. The translation can never be the wrong one: what you touched and what you are shown are two halves of a single row of a single response, paired when the daf was fetched and never re-matched. The phrase is the unit, not the paragraph, wherever the Hebrew's own punctuation and the English's own structure agree that it can be. Where they do not, the passage stays whole — under-splitting is honest, a crossed pairing never is. EVERY DAF OF THE CYCLE Kinnim and Midot have no Gemara — they are Mishnah, printed at the back of Meilah and carrying on its page numbers, which is why nothing addresses them by daf. Those seven days now show the mishnayot the cycle assigns, with their English and with Bartenura and Rambam alongside. Two pages where one masechta ends and the next begins were being half-shown, and are now whole. Every phrase of the Shas was checked: 145,760 of them, across 2,704 dapim. Every one has an English answer. READING IT The daf fills the screen edge to edge with the chrome floating above it, and the camera frames the Gemara rather than the sheet, so the column fills the width and the margins fall outside it. Pinch freely; the app's own zoom moves only when you choose a phrase. Amud א turns into amud ב with a swipe, or the corner control. A daily reminder if you want one, at the hour you choose. The daf turns at nightfall with the Jewish day, or at midnight with the calendar on the wall — your choice. Daf Yomi is part of Premium. The daily siddur and all 150 chapters of Tehillim stay free, and there are still no ads, no data sale, and no cross-app tracking.

The Shabbat and Yom Tov siddur for Nusach Sefard, a compass that lights up, and a year of days checked one at a time. NUSACH SEFARD: SHABBAT AND YOM TOV Kabbalat Shabbat, Maariv, Shacharit, the Torah reading, Musaf, Mincha, Motzei Shabbat and Havdalah — with the Shabbat meals, the zemiros, candle lighting, Kiddush, Hallel, the Omer and the festival services. Sefard readers had none of it before: the edition the app carries prints those headings in its table of contents and no text beneath them, so the siddur looked complete and stopped at Friday afternoon. It comes from the companion volume of the very same edition, translator included, so it arrives in Hebrew AND English like the weekday text — and English across the whole library nearly doubled. THE PRAYER COMPASS ON APPLE WATCH It would point exactly the right way and refuse to light up. True north is derived from your location, and the watch was waiting on a fix that never arrived, silently. It now asks properly and keeps asking — and when it cannot answer it says which thing is missing, rather than going dark: "still locating you", "allow location for true north", or "turn your wrist in a figure eight" when the compass itself needs calibrating near a magnetic watch band. MUSAF אַתָּה קָדוֹשׁ is back where it belongs. Kedushah is said only with a minyan, and the third blessing of the Amidah had been filed inside it — so folding the minyan-only parts away, which is what happens when you daven alone, hid the very passage you say in Kedushah's place. Fixed in every nusach, on Rosh Chodesh and the festivals. THE RIGHT SECTION, AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN The running head named whichever passage was last leaving the top of the screen, so it lagged a section behind for a fifth to a third of the way down a long service. It now names the section actually in front of you. THE DAY'S TEXT, DAY BY DAY Every day of the year is now checked against the halacha for that day — Yaaleh V'yavo, Al HaNissim, Tachanun and the days it is omitted in all four nusachim, the motzei Shabbat additions, LeDavid in its season, and v'sein tal u'matar from the 7th of Cheshvan in Israel and early December elsewhere. Chabad bentching: Livnei Korach is said with Shir HaMaalos on days without Tachanun, and it had been appearing every day of the year. ELSEWHERE The Apple Watch no longer redraws the glance sixty times a minute while the screen is dimmed and nobody is reading it. Search and location fields no longer have their placeholder text sliced off mid-word on smaller iPhones. No ads, no data sale, no cross-app tracking. The daily siddur and all 150 chapters of Tehillim stay free.

Candle lighting computed where the custom publishes it, Hallel said the way it is said, and a compass that lights up. CANDLE LIGHTING Minhag Yerushalayim is not forty minutes before the sunset outside your window — it is one time, printed in every luach, that the whole city lights by. Daven was applying the custom's forty minutes to whatever coordinates you were standing on, which is half a custom: the community's offset and your own private sunset. Candle lighting is rounded down so it is never shown late, so the seconds between one end of a city and the other were the whole difference, and the Watch could read a minute later than the printed time. A published communal time is now computed at the point that custom publishes. Everyone inside Jerusalem, Haifa and Zikhron Ya'akov reads one clock, on the iPhone and on the Watch alike. Where a custom is regional rather than communal — the New York fifty minutes, printed per city — your own place still decides, and so does any calculation you chose yourself. HALLEL From "Odcha ki anisani" to the end of the psalm, each verse is said twice. Daven now writes each one twice and says so at the point it begins. Reading Hallel inside Shacharis, the section list called it by psalm number. It is called Hallel. THE DAYS Al Naharos Bavel is a lament for the destruction and is said before bentching only on the days Tachanun is said. It was being set before bentching on Shabbos, Yom Tov and every Rosh Chodesh of the year. Shir HaMaalos takes its place on those days, the way the bencher prints it. The Yehi Ratzon paragraphs and Acheinu, said as the scroll is rolled on Monday and Thursday, now wait for the same days — Rosh Chodesh and Chanukah are days the scroll comes out and these are not said. Vihi Noam and the Motzei Shabbos passages at Maariv no longer turn up on a Tuesday. APPLE WATCH The Prayer Compass could stay dark while the arrow pointed exactly the right way. True north is derived from where you are, and the compass had never asked for a location — so it never had one. It asks now, and the screen lights up when you are facing the Wall. THE READER Unfolding a minyan-only card lands at the beginning of that section, instead of somewhere else in the service.

A compass for the direction of prayer, a Daily Tehillim screen, and zmanim that travel with you. WHICH WAY TO FACE A live compass that turns you toward the Western Wall from anywhere in the world — an airport, a hotel room, a business trip. The arrow follows the shortest path over the earth, so it points northeast from New York, north from Johannesburg and west-northwest from Melbourne, not simply east. The whole screen turns gold the moment you are facing it. Tap the information button for the sources: Berachos 30a, Rambam and Shulchan Aruch OC 94:1 in full, and why the arrow is aimed where it is. It is on the Apple Watch too, computed there on its own. DAILY TEHILLIM The day's portion, ready to say, with an optional daily reminder at a time you choose. The reminder can be set from the Daily Tehillim screen or from your Tehillim cycle in the library — it is one reminder either way. ZMANIM THAT TRAVEL Land in another city and the times follow you, without asking. Choosing a city by hand still wins, always. BENTCHING The Harachaman blessings for whose table you are at — your own, your parents', or your host's — are laid out the way a printed birkon lays them out: all three there to see, each with its instruction in plain English. Correct for Ashkenaz, Sefard, Edot Mizrach and Chabad. USEFUL NOW The home screen no longer offers a text on a day it isn't said. Kinnot belong to Tisha B'Av and now appear only then, and the same rule now covers Selichot, Megillat Esther, Chanukah, Hallel, the Omer count and Kiddush Levanah. APPLE WATCH The Shabbos rest screen could close the prayer you were reading, mid-Amidah, the moment candle-lighting arrived. If you are already inside a text, Daven now leaves you in it. The corrections above to the section list, the Torah service and the Kaddish names are on the Watch too — both apps read from the same source. ZMANIM The sun's path is redrawn: one continuous line that crosses the horizon instead of stopping at it, with the sun where it actually stands and every zman set on the arc where it falls. The half of the day still ahead is visible in light mode now, and times no longer print through the heading beneath them at larger text sizes. Times follow your iPhone's 12-hour or 24-hour setting everywhere, not only in some places. CALENDAR Fixed a month grid that could open completely blank. The sync card says what actually goes into your calendar — holidays and fasts, candle lighting and havdalah at your city's times, the Hebrew dates you added — and whether this phone is connected. THE READER Tapping a section in the section list now goes straight there, instead of scrolling through the service on the way. The section list repeated some sections three times over. Each is named once now, and every Kaddish is named for the Kaddish it actually is. The Torah service was appearing on days the Torah is not read — a Tuesday morning was being told the Sefer Torah was returning to the Ark. It now appears only on the days it belongs to, and the Half Kaddish is back between Tachanun and Ashrei. A section heading no longer stands over nothing on a day when what follows it is not said. Changing the text size, or folding the minyan-only parts away, no longer leaves the page shaking. ELSEWHERE Every Premium subscription now begins with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. Removed the “how long this takes” estimate from every prayer, and the long-press note editor in the reader. Settings shows the address you are signed in as. No ads, no data sale, no cross-app tracking. The daily siddur and all 150 chapters of Tehillim stay free.
