Bug fixes and polish
• Right now line: a needed entity is only reported when the path from your location is actually open — no more 160 m headlines at midday. Spots from stations on your own continent count more.
• New setting: "Bands for the Right now line". By default it uses the bands you have antennas for in your station profile.
• DX page: when the path is closed, it tells you why and when it is worth a try.
• Broadcast schedule: DRM broadcasts and Radio-Kurier's Europe frequencies are now marked.
• Logbook: start time is shown and saved in UTC when editing; faster search; deleting from the detail view is stable.
• The Bands page reloads when your location changes and no longer hangs while the server is calculating.
• QRZ upload stops when there is no connection.
• Many small fixes for time zones, audio and layout.

Ionaut 2.0 – redesigned.
• Now: the home screen tells you in one sentence what works right now –
with an image that matches the real conditions: grey line, aurora, tropo,
thunderstorms. Tap for details, such as the path and forecast to a needed
entity.
• Five sections instead of one long list: Now, Bands, Globe, Logbook, More.
• Bands: the next 24 hours for every target region at a glance.
• Globe: target regions glow across their land area, through the whole day
with the time slider. DXCC album with smooth countries.
• Logbook: the path of every contact on the map, with day and night at the
time of the QSO. New: upload to the QRZ logbook.
• Azimuthal map showing the real Earth as of now – turn the antenna with
your finger.
• Operating locations can now be edited directly, antennas included.
• New app icon and new icons for every tile.

New in 1.8
- Station: your licences with expiry date and reminder, your equipment with a
battery schedule (packs like a charge every few weeks) and your operating
locations with antennas – all in one place.
- WSPR in Live spots: alongside PSK Reporter you can now switch to WSPR, with
the transmit power of every report. See how far 200 mW really goes.
- Phrasebook: greetings, thanks and numbers in 28 languages, with
transliteration and spoken audio. Right at the callsign, in the logbook and
in the DX cluster.
- DX cluster: filter several bands at once, or just the bands your antennas
cover.
- Moon rise and set now for today at your location.
- All icons redrawn.

New in 1.7 — our biggest update yet
- Globe: the real Earth with day, night, city lights and aurora. Your contacts
glow as arcs, a time slider shows where each band carries over the next
24 hours, and the DXCC album colours in every entity you have worked and
confirmed.
- Your signal's path: see from the side how your signal hops through the
ionosphere — with measured ionosondes, MUF and D-layer. Also for every HF
contact in your log: "How your contact got there".
- Ask Ionaut: ask in your own words, get answers from real data. Log a
contact from one sentence, scan paper QSL cards. With Apple Intelligence,
on your device.
- Satellite in the real sky: hold up your iPhone and the camera shows where
the satellite will appear. The list now sorts by visibility.
- New tropo map with time-lapse and Live Activity; reach map time-lapse; the
Sun in 3D; band plan as a spectrum; "How was my signal".
- Daily briefing: twice a day, what matters right now.
- Apple Watch complications. Siri and Shortcuts.
- On the road: the whole app can work from your GPS location.
- Many translation improvements across all 44 languages.

New in 1.6
- Reach map: a disc around your location showing where the band carries at this
hour. Every direction is the true bearing, the colour is VOACAP reliability —
computed with your power and your antenna. Turn the beam and watch the
footprint follow.
- Exam questions: the official catalogue of the German regulator, all 1750
questions, sorted by licence class and examination part. Reproduced by
permission; works offline once loaded.
- Shortwave broadcast schedule: who is on air now and what is coming up,
filtered by language, all times UTC. By kind permission of ADDX.
- Radio year: what your logbook says about the year — busiest month, furthest
contact, most worked country. Ready to share.
- Antenna orientation: enter how your wire runs. The forecast now uses your
lobe instead of assuming north-south.
Fixed
- The forecast assumed a north-south lobe for dipoles, wires and loops.
- Twilight zones were missing from the world map around the equinoxes.
- Space weather on the Lock Screen now refreshes in the background.
- Many smaller corrections to texts, labels and hints.

New in 1.5
- Station profile: enter your antennas — type, bands, height, feedline and
power. The DX forecast then computes for your station instead of a sample
dipole, and you see how much power reaches the antenna.
- The QSO entry answers while you type: bearing, distance, locator from the
callbook, and whether the entity, band or mode is new to you.
- Scorecard from your own log: how often the forecast said closed while you
were making contacts.
- The history charts now tell you whether a value is unusual.
Fixed
- The band plan showed frequencies with a German decimal comma in every
language.
- Satellite alerts did not name the satellite in five languages.
- Nineteen texts in the sun and moon module were English only.
- Many smaller corrections to units, dates and labels.

Learning to send. The CW trainer now works both ways. Straight key or paddle (Iambic A/B, sides swappable), sidetone with soft edges. The app reads your rhythm back and tells you what is wrong with the timing: dash-to-dot ratio, spacing inside a character, between characters, between words. If your dots vary in length it says so first — until they steady, nothing else means anything.
Repeaters: India. 57 repeaters, by kind permission of Jose Jacob, VU2JOS. There are no coordinates yet, so they appear in the list but not on the map, and the app says so instead of inventing a location. New country list: what is on file per country, which bands, how many entries have no position. The map now loads whatever is on screen, instead of only your surroundings.
Watcher with HamAlert. This adds the Reverse Beacon Network, SOTAwatch, POTA and PSK Reporter. No password involved: you get an address and paste it into HamAlert under Destinations → URL notifications. Alerts now name their source and no longer depend on your device language.
Tropo ducting map. Nine regions to choose from. Fixed: it crashed over North America, the Caribbean and South America, and Europe was stretched across the globe. The map is much easier to read.
DXCC. Beam headings, cluster, callsign lookup, map and log search now know all 341 entities instead of 109.

Sporadic-E — new module
Shows where Es clouds are standing right now. Three readings sit side by
side and are deliberately not stirred into a single number, because they
say different things: what was actually reported in the past hour, what
the ionosondes measure, and what the season would lead you to expect. Real
reports beat any calculation — the sonde only decides where nobody has
been on the air.
Reports on 2 m and 4 m only count as Sporadic-E if a 6 m cloud stands at
the same place and time. An E layer that carries 144 MHz carries 50 MHz
easily; the reverse does not follow. On 10 m the result is cross-checked
against the F2 layer, so an F2 opening is not mistaken for Sporadic-E.
Formula reference in the calculator
The official German formula reference for the amateur radio examination,
complete and properly typeset rather than photographed: fractions as
fractions, roots with a radical bar, subscripts where they belong. From
every section you jump straight into the matching calculator. Reproduced
by permission of the Bundesnetzagentur.
Widgets rebuilt
Every view has been redesigned from scratch and now follows one shared
layout. New: Sporadic-E with a radar view centred on your own location,
and a DX view showing every world region at once, sorted by where you can
reach right now. Space weather gives the space to the bands instead of two
bare numbers, and Grayline draws a 24-hour day/night strip. Large widgets
are supported for the first time.
DX cluster with history
The spot list used to reach back about twenty minutes. It now covers
close to three hours.
Licence classes
The per-country notes have been reviewed and tidied, and the English texts
are now complete rather than patchy. Albania had the wrong unit on 40 m
(MHz instead of kHz) — corrected.
Also
- iPad: world map in the correct aspect ratio, time axis no longer wraps
- Translations refreshed across all 44 languages
- Many labels made consistent
1.3 Aug 10
D-STAR live — who is transmitting worldwide right now, via which repeater and for how long. With your own record for your callsign and four distinguishable reasons for "I cannot see myself".
Conditions watcher — tell me when 20 m opens to Japan. Eight destinations, band selectable, two sensitivity levels.
EME windows — the next five usable lunar windows instead of just "now". With a partner station, only the shared time counts.
Grey-zone planner — 48 hours ahead: grey zone at your end, at the target, darkness over both ends.
Eclipse sequence at your own location, an arithmetic module for the licence exam, a customisable home screen, a solar flare warning in the DX forecast, and an EME widget.
Space weather now draws on several independent sources, so a single outage no longer takes the module down. Every value shows where it came from and how old it is.
Also new: a handbook of around 65 pages as a PDF, German and English, linked in the app and at ionaut.klohn.info.
1.2 Jul 30
- Fully optimized for iPad – landscape layout for the dashboard and every module
- New: Tip Jar – support development if you enjoy Ionaut
- Polish for the globe, history charts and learning illustrations
- Various improvements and bug fixes
