DETENT is the cockpit panel that starts with your radios, turning your iPhone or iPad into a tactile radio stack for your flight simulator PC. Instead of dragging sliders or clicking tiny knobs with a mouse, you spin real concentric rings on your touchscreen. The outer ring tunes megahertz, the inner ring tunes kilohertz in 25 or 8.33 kHz steps, and every click lands on a haptic detent so you can feel the frequency change without looking down. Press and hold the center, or tap the dedicated swap button, to trade active and standby. It is the closest a touchscreen gets to a real radio stack. WHAT YOU CAN TUNE - Dual COM radios (COM1 and COM2), each with independent active and standby frequencies - Dual NAV radios (NAV1 and NAV2) with OBS course setting - Transponder (XPDR) with squawk code entry, mode readout, and IDENT - Autopilot bugs and mode buttons (beta): honest lamp read-back so you can see what the autopilot is actually doing, live now for supported GA aircraft with more coverage on the way, all working in demo mode - A direct numeric keypad for typing a frequency or squawk code exactly, when you already know the number and do not want to spin to it AIRPORT FREQUENCY LOOKUP Search any airport by ICAO identifier, or tap Nearest to find the closest field to your aircraft in the sim. COM and VOR frequencies come from a bundled offline database built from OurAirports public-domain airport records, so lookup works with no internet connection. Tap a result and send it to a radio's standby slot, ready to swap. TRY IT WITHOUT A SIM DETENT includes a demo mode with simulated radios, reachable from first launch, so you can try the full panel, the keypad, and airport lookup before connecting anything. No sim and no companion software required to evaluate the app. HOW IT CONNECTS DETENT talks to a free Windows companion app, the DETENT Bridge, over your own local network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet, LAN only). Pair once by scanning a QR code the Bridge displays, and DETENT reconnects automatically after that. There is no cloud relay and no internet requirement for normal operation. BUILT FOR REAL RADIO WORK DETENT is built for pilots flying with live and AI air traffic control (VATSIM, PilotEdge, BeyondATC, SayIntentions, and similar). Hear a frequency, spin it into standby by feel with your eyes still outside, swap, and you are on frequency. On iPad, all radios and the transponder are visible at once in a dense panel layout; on iPhone, page between radios one at a time. PRIVACY DETENT has no account system, no subscription, and no cloud. It does not collect analytics and has no third-party SDKs. All networking is local to your own network, to your own bridge PC. Your flight, your frequencies, your network. COMPATIBILITY Requires Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on PC and the free DETENT Bridge companion app running on that PC (available via the Microsoft Store), connected over the same local network as your iPhone or iPad.
