The world is your library

Snap a photo of your shelf and every book is listed in seconds. Lend, swap or sell with neighbours, find and steward little libraries near you, and run free book clubs. Point your camera at a shelf. Every spine becomes a cover, and the books you already own are catalogued in seconds, no typing, no barcodes. Then put your shelf on the map, and neighbours ask for what is a short walk away. You choose the terms for every book: give it, lend it, rent it, or sell it. Hand it off on a stoop, at a bookstore, at a coffee shop, or leave it in a little library. No shipping. No fees, whatever terms you set. The app is free. LITTLE LIBRARIES, ALIVE The little libraries near you are on the map with what is actually inside, reported by the people who open them. Add the books you see. Follow a box and hear when someone drops a book off. Keep a wants list and hear when one turns up nearby. CLUBS THAT MEET Free book clubs tied to real copies on real shelves. A current read, a reading list, a vote on the next book, a meeting at a real place, and a discussion that stays with the club. YOUR NEXT READ IS ALREADY NEARBY Search by title, author, or ISBN and see the copies around you: free, to borrow, or for sale. Keep a reading list and watch it tick off as you read. The books were already here. Abridgedly makes them visible.

Getting started • Your first screen says what the app is for: put your books on the map, and neighbours can ask to borrow, buy or take one. You set the terms. No fees. • After your first book, the app asks whether to put the shelf on the map. Your exact location is never shown. • Start a book club from the phone. Your clubs are listed on the Shelves screen, with what each one is reading. • "Add your first book" gives you the choice: scan a barcode, photograph a shelf, or type a title. The camera is only asked for once you pick it. • Sign in with Apple lands on the handle step like every other sign-up, with your name filled in. Finding books • Tap any book and it opens: on the map, on a neighbour's shelf, in a little library, in a club's poll. • Tap a place's name on the map to open it. The little (i) still works too. • A book in a little library is shown as one, with the box as its place. • Book pages link out to the catalogue's shops and reading sites, and say which link pays us. • Share a little library, bookshop or library from its page. • A bookshop or library that has been claimed says who runs it, and shows what they have put on the map. Adding books • Type a title and the catalogue suggests the book as you type, cover included. Pick one, or keep what you typed. • The viewfinder counts every spine in frame, not just one. • Adding by hand asks how you are sharing the book: free, borrow, rent or buy. Free is the default, and the row remembers your last answer. • A barcode scan's "Added" note says how the book was listed. • Sweep a shelf before you take the photo and every barcode the camera saw is already in the review, ticked. Profiles • Profiles show handoffs, books read, little libraries mapped and books shared, plus a reader's links to their other accounts. Reading together • Every reading list has a switch: tell me when a book on this list turns up nearby. • A club reading alongside a podcast, video or article shows it under the current book. Small things • The placing card reads at the largest text sizes. • "Are you sure?" questions open beside the button you tapped. • Stray borders and gaps on the Shelves, profile and Account screens are gone. • One spelling everywhere: neighbours, catalogue, organiser.
